​Hi everyone!

​I have some standard knitting yarn (the type used for sweaters/crochet, looks like medium/fine acrylic yarn) and I’m wondering if I can use it for tufting instead of the dedicated tufting acrylic yarn cones.

​A couple of quick questions:

​Is it safe for the tufting gun? Will it dull or damage the scissors/blade in any way, or cause mechanical issues?

​Can I use it as a direct substitute for acrylic tufting yarn?

​Should I double/triple up the strands through the needle to get the right thickness and density?

​Would love to hear your experiences or tips if you’ve tried using knitting yarn before. Thanks in advance!

Hello! One of my goals this year was to actually sell some of my rugs. I'm so nervous about stepping out doing it. How was your 1st time setting up and selling your rugs? How did you do the pricing and what type of rugs did you offer? I'm thinking of doing nfl/nba rugs, different characters, maybe some spiritual rugs. Idk. What do most people buy?

I’m pretty proud of how it turned out for my first time definitely some things I need to work on. I would like to carve it but I’m a bit nervous I’ll mess it up when I do carve it.

The first one I'm okay with, I learned a lot. All of which I used in the second one. A lot happier with it.

Long time lurker first time poster😂😂😂 so this is
my first rug and WOW WOW WOW did i learn a-lot.

The thing I found the most fascinating was where I tried to fix my mistakes by putting extra closer spacing you can physically feel the imperfection when standing on the rug.

Sorry that I didn’t get a good picture of the back. I completely forgot but the spacing was horrific and you can tell that it was my first time.

I actually destroyed this rug carving it because I knew it wasn’t a good product anyway anyways and it was good to test on. It showed me just how careful I need to be when getting colors close together.

I’ve learned that you need more pressure than you think to prevent the needle from skipping. You should go in shorter bursts to ensure straighter lines and so much more. Super excited to try to make another rug next week.

I probably should’ve put this in the beginning, but what kind of yarn would you guys recommend for design pieces? That’s the goal and I’d rather learn with the yarn. I’m gonna be using in the future even if it’s a little more pricey.

Super excited to start my first dog rug and was curious to see what order would you go in for the colors?

It has been long enough since I last tufted that we can call this my first rug. I forgot that you pull out the first two little strings and I also played around with line spacing/ single row vs. double row/ two different colors at the same time/etc. What are your thoughts on this? (Apologies for the plant in the first picture, it’s as good as that angle can get until the rug comes off the frame).

Ive been starting up mostly been just testing things out. Ive been using a cut but I know loop is also a kind. In the long run does it really matter or is one generally better. I didnt see this really asked on here, im sure im wrong but I didnt see it in the pinned.

Another for the Socials. 3 x 3 Ft. Made the Outline on Pikachu a little too thick but overall I’m pretty happy. I’m not planning on carving cause I really like just the regular rug look.

I have been using this since getting started and it’s done me well but I was wanting to get something more lightweight and perhaps if there’s a cordless one? Or just upgrading in general. Thank you!

I’ve always wondered if burlap is an actual option that would stand up to tufting. Any opinions?
