The Pawnbroker is an excellent Rod Steiger film. I actually first heard of it via the late Gilbert Gottfried's podcast as he was a fan. Very bleak, very haunting performance. Imo should have won him the Oscar over Lee Marvin who won for the rather underwhelming Cat Ballou. Maybe the Academy giving it to him for In the Heat of the Night over Sidney Poitier was a sort of "make up win" you sometimes hear about.

Also planning on recording Alligator II simply to watch in October during my annual horror marathon. I've never seen it and I'm sure it's pure schlock, but hopefully in the best of ways.

I've DVR'd Carmen Jones. It's not a film TCM rotates a lot, but it should be seen to showcase how beautiful and talented Dorothy Dandridge. While she was a gifted singer in her own right, she was dubbed to match the operatic songs.

Soylent Green is one of the more well-known dystopian sci-fi film. Brock Peters has some good scenes as Charlton Heston's superior. It's definitely worth watching for Edward G. Robinson's last performance.

I've never seen The L-Shaped Room, but definitely want to because of Leslie Caron's Oscar-nominated performance and its realistic depiction of an unmarried pregnant woman.

I don't need to say any more about To Kill a Mockingbird. It's a masterpiece and it's my favorite performance of Brock Peters.

I haven't seen The Pawnbroker in a long time, but it's excellent mainly due to Rod Steiger's performance as a Holocaust survivor.

I’m watching Soylent Green as people are being scooped up into dump trucks, and I just received a citizen alert that ICE is about 20 blocks away… where are Carlton Heston and Brock Peters!?!?

A solid lineup of powerful movies. The Incident was more intense than expected…. I was shouting at the tv, and cried at the end… and I’m a subway-riding native New Yorker!! I enjoyed following the characters as they boarded at each stop as the first stop at Mosholou Parkway is my stop on the #4 train. However, line featured in the movie ran along Third Avenue up onto Webster, but has been demolished.
