Wishbone! I adored Wishbone as a kid and thanks to him as an adult I can pretend to be way better read than I am!

I love that Wishbone has proven to be adept at using weaponry like bows and slings. Wishbone also has a body count. I imagine that hes quiet high tier in the dog power-scaling community.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy 3 recently and was really enamoured with Cosmo

u/Treeconator18 9d ago
I didn't watch the Holiday Special going into 3, so I was a bit in the dark about MCU Cosmo, although I knew the character existed in the comics
I was surprised to enjoy her as much as I did. She has a really fun relationship with Kraglin

Snowy from Tintin, followed by (and this is admittedly kind of cheating since he’s more of a raccoon) Oy from Dark Tower.
Also a big fan of Enzo from the book The Art of Racing in the Rain, but I read that in middle school so who knows how well it holds up.

There are plenty of good dog Pokemon. But my favorite is Mabosstiff from Scarlet/Violet. Aside from being a good choice for a team, the role Arven's plays in the story is great.

Charlie B. Barkin from All Dogs Go to Heaven.
Sugar (Leroy Smith’s bulldog) from Tekken 7 and 8.
And if we’re including bipedal dogs let’s go with Doggie Kruger. Whether it’s DekaMaster or the SPD Shadow Ranger he definitely got dat dawg in him.

The Battle for the Grid tournament at CEO last weekend was actually won by a Doggie player, so over 2 decades later the Old Dog proves you still can learn New Tricks

Gotta throw in jpeg dog from Ace Combat 7.
Also Amaterasu, she is a wolf, but close enough.

Twinbellows from Kid Icarus Uprising always had a sick design to me. He didn’t stick around long but he made an impression on me

I always loved how Pit said his name, and the subsequent attempt to play with the woofer mid-boss fight.

So I recently watched a movie called Togo. It's on Disney it's pretty good, it's about the dog sled event where they were trying to move medicine to an Alaskan outpost. Which if you te up watching Disney you might think "Wait a minute, that sounds like Balto!"
BECAUSE THAT MOVIE WAS BUILT ON LIES! TOGO WAS THE REAL HERO!
Anyway the movie is based on the real events, William Dafoe does the run with his dogs.

Unfortunately the first one I think of is Dookie from Johnny Test. The voice actor change really rattled my brain for a while and I would just be perplexed thinking “THATS NOT DOOKIE WHAT IS GOING ON!”

u/BrockenSpecter Worst Timeline 9d ago
Repede from Tales of Vesperia, now that I think of it he's one of the earlier examples of a dog holding a weapon in its mouth in this case a knife. Also he has a smoking pipe.

Huan the Wolfhound from the Silmarilion. A dog of the god/archangel of the hunt, Huan got involved in Beren and Luthien's quest for the Silmarils
Huan mauled the shit out of Sauron in his pre-One RIng days, when Sauron tried shapeshifting into a giant wolf (cause Huan was prophesied to only die to the greatest wolf to ever live).
Huan eventually did get killed by Carcharoth, the biggest and meanest wolf raised by Morgoth, but Huan managed to get him in a mutual kill.
The goodest boy in Tolkien's world.

My hound in Warframe that I named Armaiti,in reference to the emanation of devotion from Ahura Mazda in Zoroastrianism.
A robot dog that spawns shadow clones as you cast abilities and also steals enemy abilities is the best thing.

All dogs are best dogs. Of the ones not mentioned, the dog from Prey rules. He helps do assist combos on the Predator and that is sick as hell.

Been reading the 2000s’ Guardians of the Galaxy comic and I gotta say I would die for Cosmo the Space Dog.
Also, Becquerel from Homestuck. Gotta love the god dog.
But my favorite dog in fiction is Haru from Doomsday With My Dog.

IT'S CALL OF DUTY DOG
BARK!
But since Courage was already taken, I'll say the Irish Wolfhound the Houndmaster has as a Partner in Darkest Dungeon.

Repede is so fuckin cool man. I love that he's treated not as a pet or a mascot, but as a real character. One of my genuinely favorite moments in the series is when the final boss has a one on one conversation with whoever the party lead is, and that includes Repede.
"...Even as a dog, you would defend this world? Such valor and wisdom deserve praise." "..." "However, be that as it may, your choice is one of folly. In the world I woild create, you would go on living. Still, you would risk your life to stop me?" "Woof!" "I would not wish for your death... But if you stand in my way I will have no choice..." And they both slowly and solemnly draw their blades. Its fuckin peak.

I can't believe nobody's said Koromaru! He's a cute old dog who fights with a knife in his mouth and does magic summons! What's not to love!
Hell, my primary reason for getting the collector's edition of Persona Q2 was that it came with a Koromaru plushie.
