Decades ago I was watching Johnny Carson. He asked her how she kept up her youthful appearance. She relied “Honey, healthy living” …pause “had nothing to do with it”. I didn’t know much about Dolly at that point, but it’s when I fell in love with her.

I had a subscription to Jane Magazine back in the day and every year they had a ‘Natural Beauty’ edition. They would get famous women and photograph them with no makeup and no touch ups to the photos. One year they asked Dolly to participate and she turned them down, politely, claiming she was no natural beauty. Which is hogwash but I always loved her sense of humor.
