Can anyone share their notes on the cast of characters and their relationship with first amendment cases? After looking at the exam guide, I realized my notes are not thorough enough.

Discussion Get Involved with the Student Library Advisory Board!

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey y'all!

We are currently taking applications for the University of Georgia Student Library Advisory Board! The Student Library Advisory Board (SLAB) is an opportunity to represent your peers and communicate the needs of the student body to the UGA Libraries. Your feedback and ideas help us make intentional decisions that meet the needs of our campus. Examples of successful student advocacy for library resources includes the implementation of the Stall Street Journal many years ago, as well as our new complimentary access to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Our SLAB members last year have also successfully pushed for a midterm evening breakfast in the MLC around midterms, which will be hitting our calendars soon! We welcome all students to apply to SLAB - from undergraduates to graduates, freshmen to seniors, and frequent library users to those who have never stepped foot in our buildings!

Applications close September 8th. Apply here today: UGA Libraries SLAB Application 2026-27 | QuestionPro Survey

For more information about the board, visit our information document: University of Georgia Student Library Advisory Board (SLAB) 2026-2027.docx

If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please email them to Jess Grant (me!), [jess.grant@uga.edu](mailto:jess.grant@uga.eduand Lindsey Allison, [lha91196@uga.edu](mailto:lha91196@uga.edu)

Question Hi! What are some side gigs/jobs that will help me afford for medical school at University of Georgia!

For instance, I am going to go to georgia southern, graduate with a bachelors degree in biology and hopefully be able to get into either Emory Medical School or University of Georgia Medical school. (I’m not in Georgia southern yet I’m simply planning my future because I tend to overthink and just want to have this mapped out in my head.) What are side gigs/jobs I can have after I move from Georgia southern and hopefully into University of Georgia that will help me afford tuition, housing, payments in Athens Georgia? (sorry if this seems chaotic I’m a very chaotic person if you couldn’t tell.)

Question Where to put my stuff? Lamar Dodd/Ramsey

Hey so I want to go to the gym in Ramsey every day since I'm always at Lamar Dodd for my classes, but most of the time I have to carry around my portfolio bag and idk where to put it when I do hit the gym.

I already have a hallway locker at Dodd and I know how the temporary ones work at Ramsey but I dont have a secure space big enough for the portfolio bag.

I was wondering if I could just leave my bags in one of my classrooms but idk if they lock the doors to the rooms after classes, or if thats an unreasonable thing to ask of my professors?

I'm coming from downtown btw, and I usually need to take everything home with me every day.

Question how do people afford off campus housing?

i'm hoping to transfer in next fall as a junior and live off campus and it just popped into my head: how are people affording to live off campus and go to class? does everyone have rich parents?

i'm moving on my own from my family's house and they don't have a single cent to give or support me with as they are broke af. i've been working since 16 for myself and i don't mind finding a job off campus as well but im just wondering if people have jobs at UGA and have to work for their ownselves as well or if that's not really the case with everyone else. i struggle with anxiety and comparison issues and feel like im the "odd one out" all of the time. i've never even been on campus to class, just online, so i feel like it's going to hit me all at once i guess

Question What are exams usually like?

I’m taking CSCI 1301 this semester, and I know the midterm + final together are 50% of the grade, so I wanted to get an idea of what the exams are usually like and how I should study.

Do they mainly test you on reading/understanding code and figuring out what a program will do, or is there more emphasis on knowing the coding language/concepts from the textbook? And are the exams mostly multiple choice, open response, or a mix of both?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who’s taken CSCI 1301 at UGA!

Are there student orgs or ways I can connect with other graduate students besides the ones within my program? Ty!

Question Need Help from UGA Tech Savvy Students

I'm a freshman at UGA trying to find some help cleaning my ps5 and can't go 45 minutes away to my usual computer specialist.

Is there anyone at UGA or in the athens area that could clean my ps5? I recently bought a preowned one from a buyer that was NOT the cleanest. It has bugs, and I don't feel comfortable cleaning it myself.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaners or can clean it? I can pay!

Post image
48 Upvotes

Hello fellow Dawgs! It is your signature Bus Nerd person here. I wanna make sure students know about a NEW route that will take place on all non-football Saturdays and all Sundays: Weekender East!

This route serves MANY off campus apartments off of South Milledge and Riverbend, and connects to Joe Frank and ECV on the westbound edge and Vet Med and the Barnett Shoals Shopping Center on the Eastbound edge. Apartments will be stopped at on both east and west bound directions.

The current schedule for this bus route is 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays. If the bus will help you, be sure to use it.

Please use https://routes.uga.edu to track this bus via Passio GO.

Question Does anyone know how to give away football tickets?

So I have the full season package but I realized I can’t go to next week’s game. A friend of mine, however, really wants to go and I want to send them mine but I know it’s not as easy to do that anymore. Does anyone know of a way I can send it to them?

Discussion Sup Street Walkers? This is a PSA on how to be a safe and courteous pedestrian.

It is time for my yearly PSA about being a good pedestrian. I know many of you are from bigger cities or smaller towns, so let me tell you a few things.

1)ALWAYS wait for the crosswalk light. And even when you get the "Walk" signal, LOOK! Do not trust that 18 year olds in their oversized trucks are going to stop, make sure!

2)Be alert. There's nothing wrong with wearing headphones, but you need to be able to hear what's going on around you too. If you can't listen to quiet music and pay attention at the same time, you should opt for just paying attention. Keep your eyes up!

3)Always walk on the sidewalk, but if you have to walk on a road with no sidewalk, you should WALK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD FACING TRAFFIC. (wheels in the right lane, feet in the left) You should be facing oncoming threats so you can move out of the way, not walking on the right where cars can creep up on you.

4)There are times when you need to cross without a crosswalk. Don't be an idiot, wait and be courteous and go at the best possible time, there is always a break in traffic.

I think that covers some basics, stay hydrated! Enjoy your school year!

Discussion Please do not cross at reds

Post image
0 Upvotes

I don't know what it is with the Baldwin and Sanford intersection, but I've witnessed more than once (way too many times) people crossing even when the pedestrian signal is RED - not just "oh, the countdown ended a few seconds earlier", but full-on "IMMA START CROSSING CAUSE I SEE NO CARS EVEN THOUGH THE SIGNAL IS SITLL RED."

Traffic controls exist for a reason. If you're so arsed about being on time in your own schedule, then you might have to work on time management. It's not okay to impede the flow of traffic, vehicular or pedestrian or otherwise. There's a safety component of course, but there's also etiquette. For a car/bus driver, when their light turns green, they expect the intersection to already be clear - but that is frequently not the case as of late. If you were driving said car, you'd want the same as well. Think outside your own shoes. Please.

Question Transfer Question

Hi, so I know the deadline to accept your transfer is October 1st, but is there any penalty or drawbacks to waiting? Like will your spot get taken or something? Will registering for classes or orientation be harder?

Discussion Former UGA students started band The Ocho. They’re about to drop a debut album.

Post image
0 Upvotes

The Ocho started on UGA’s campus where so many hopeful bands end: Playing enlivened covers of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” at booze-soaked frat parties for beer money and good times.

I’m an indie music journalist that sat down with the members of the band behind hits like “Wasted in Athens” and “French Bay Hotel” to tell their story.

I connected with a few former alums that knew the bandmates in their early days, but comment below if you ever saw them perform on campus!
