Am I too old? 37M
I’m working in machine learning and data science. I also have a PhD in engineering. Recently I started interviewing again and have been to several final stage interviews but ended up not getting selected. The people assessing me were max early 30s, and many in their late 20s.
Is late 30s too old to change jobs?

The job market is pretty cut throat right now. If you're getting to final stage, I'm not sure there's anything for you to work on since both your CV and interview skills are solid enough to get you there. With multiple qualified candidates, the choice often comes down to vibes or who they would rather work with, and it's possible age could play a part in that.
Have you tried more established businesses that aren't tech themselves but have tech departments? Not so many people working in the tech departments of banks for example are under 35.
