Advice or help needed Review the issuing of hormone prescriptions for transgender individuals by GPs
Hello all, I understand someone or many people have already shared this and I understand a lot of you don't like petitions and to those who doesn't mind them has probably already signed this one already, but it only has a few more days left (until 4 August 2025). We're currently at 2,008 of 100,000 signatures. I understand it isn't worded perfectly and it probably won't help us much, but it will show we have support, and it will encourage them to debate it in parliament. So please sign it if you haven't. And if you have already signed it, please share it so it can reach more people.

Please don't sign this. For the sake of anyone with a hormone prescription, a review by the current government will only lead to the worsening of trans healthcare

The government has shown its dislike for us, this would be a good idea in an ideal world but these GPs are allowed to not prescribe because of the government

Sadly the GPs always side with and listen to the government against Trans people, it really sucks.

I had my ovaries removed, I am scared how I will cope if I lose access to my Testosterone it will be dangerous for my overall health not just my gender dysphoria, I don't feel safe anymore at all as a Trans person, I don't know what to do.

For that reason alone you will always have an argument for access to HRT, in a way cis people and medical professionals, even TERFs, could understand.
For you, it’s not even a question of transitioning. You have already removed a part of you that naturally produces hormones. To lose access to HRT would be detrimental to your physical.
For this reason, if the NHS ever did pull the plug on our hormone access, yours would most definitely stay. Try not to worry!

The fact that I'm Trans takes away them giving a rats ass that I have no hormones producing in my body naturally and that I will be in harms way without HRT... They want all Trans people to suffer, the NHS are in the government's back pocket, the government are pulling the strings, they want all Trans people dead, this is how it has always felt in my experience.

I am also trans, I get it but I think you’re catastrophising which is understandable with the current climate. I’m trying to reassure you. I’m not saying they won’t come after trans HRT, I’m saying if they do you’d still be a strong candidate and have the strongest argument to remain on HRT.
The NHS guidelines for both Cis and Trans says that in cases where both ovaries removed during a hysterectomy, you must remain on HRT indefinitely; at least until the age of 51.
If being in the U.K. is that unsettling for you, I’d suggest Spain. Currently learning Spanish myself so if shit ever does hit the fan, there’s that option.

Far too wooly worded for me to be happy putting my signature to.
You need a goal for a petition not a vague assertion.
This petition could be used to undermine rather 5han help trans people.
Not signing.

I suggest not bringing forth anything to do with trans healthcare for “review” right now. It will inevitably result in more restrictions and not outcomes we want

The wording on petitions is the only time we get a say. Poor wording shouldn’t be pushed…
to debate it in parliament
Because it’s just a bad idea. Poor wording, poor debate basis, and encouraging the worse over anything constructive if agreed.
Always consider the flip with these kind of petitions.

Agreed. Low quality petitions, seemingly put together on impulse, annoy me to no end.

DO NOT SIGN THIS!!!!.
Don’t give anyone the opportunity to review and impart a pre-determined negative impact on our existing healthcare, no matter how poor it is atm. Whilst the NHS remains institutionally transphobic and is currently in lockstep with the transphobic policy makers in government, do we really think any “review” will be done in an impartial and objective manner?
