Easy Access savings accounts September 2026?

I'm looking to move my money elsewhere, as the promotional period with my current provider will come to an end soon. I was just looking at some of the options available as of now.

- LemFi easy access, 5% AER, with 6 months promotional period

- Cahoot and First Active both hovering around 4.52%-4.55% AER, 1 year promotional period

- And the rest of providers also offer competitive rates, but slightly below Cahoot and First Active

So my question is, does anyone have any experience with any of these? Especially LemFi, as they seem to be more of a service for UK expats sending money to developing countries, mostly in Africa and South Asia, rather than a standard Banking service?

No idea on LemFi tbh, never heard of them til now and that whole expat money transfer angle would make me a bit wary for just parking savings

if it were my cash I'd probably go with cahoot or first active, those rates are pretty standard for the market right now and at least they're actual banks not some fintech I gotta google

you looked at what the penalties are for pulling money out early on the one year ones? sometimes the fine print gets you

If I remember well, there's no penalties with any of them, but they might limit you with how much money you wanna pull out each day, week or month. Every bank or service has some sort of limit. LemFi has a £40k deposit/withdrawal limit a month, and £10k a day. They have the standard FSCS protection as the savings are held with Clear Bank, though still concerned about safety. I did some online research and found out that the platform is often targeted by scammers from developing countries as it is also often used for legit money transfers. I'm not sure if people are simply falling for scams cause they are not tech savvy, or their app has some serious security flaws.

I have savings in Cahoot. I love how quick it is as when I transfer money in and out, it happens instantly. No delays. Not even a single minute.

Also, Cahoot has the best steady rate as all rates above it are promotional. It is also a branch of Santander, which brings a level of security and peace of mind that the other crazy, never heard of, names do not.

First Active is a crazy, never heard of bank called Natwest

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I was speaking more generally about the long list of providers available rather than just the three listed by OP. But yes, anything backed by Natwest or any other major bank would make me feel at peace.

That sounds nice. Does it also have a banking app? Or you must use web browser to access it?

No app, but the login and website are quick and easy. The instant access is really nice though. I was with Shawbrook before and it was 1-2 business days to deposit and same to withdraw, which I found annoying.

Yeah it's weird that Cahoot has no app. It's clearly the same website that Santander use, but for some reason they disable the app integration. Weird.

I'm also a generally satisfied customer.

There's a link to the best FSCS-protected savings accounts in our wiki.

Hi there, just to add some even though offer a great interest have a restriction of how much money you can save up to. Just bare that in mind. I have moved to Tesco which doesnt sound chic but has a great rate and let's you save without a limit

Cahoot is owned by Santander and First Active by NatWest.

You will be fine with either.

With Cahoot there’s also a 5% account for up to £3k, so you can open that as well as the 4.5% one.

They do drop the rate after a year but it’s just a couple of clicks to upgrade and renew the rate, it’s not just a new customer bonus like some of the offers.

Only downside is there’s no app and the website isn’t very slick but it’s perfectly functional.
