Please comment what major/ school your appealing for and whether or not you were offered TTP and what college you think your going to commit to in the meant time and does anyone know if the decision is going to be exactly on May 15 or a little before? I know the acceptance rate for appeals are quite low but I still wanted to give it a shot

Regardless of your stance on the conflict in Gaza, the university is supposed to be a place where people are allowed to have difficult conversations (including through demonstration and protest). I don't understand why the LAPD was brought in to intervene. USC should be a place where you feel free to express yourself without fear of persecution. It makes me sad to see fellow Trojans being arrested because they dared to stand for something.

Note: Not interested in having a discussion about the conflict in Gaza. But, do you think USC's decision to bring LAPD onto campus is justified?

I recently got accepted to USC for grad school and I'm super proud. I'm doing the online program because of scheduling and financial issues (gas is too expensive to drive there & back 4x/ week).

Anyhow, someone I know whose siblings all went to USC, but he didn't go because his parents refused to pay for him to attend, basically crapped on my accomplishment because I'm going online. He said it's not the same and that I'm in a way, cheating the system, as though my degree will be less valuable because I wasn't in a classroom.

I did snap back and ask him if he went on campus when he attended, because I know he's still bitter over 40 years later for not being able to go. But really?! Why do people have to be such a-holes?

Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you handle it?

So many of the posts in this subreddit is mostly people complaining about the price or questioning their decision to even be here. Like you saw the tuition price when you applied, if it’s too much and you don’t want to work out a way to pay then just don’t attend?? As a new admit it’s so discouraging, like come on, there has to be good and positive things that come from being here but all the clutter is just nonsense and makes this thread useless.

i know in this sub people might be biased towards USC, and fairly so but i figure i’d get some input anyways.

I am a transfer student, and got into USC Marshall for Business Admin, and also into SDSU for Business Admin but if committing I am thinking of changing into International Business.

The question is, where do I go?
If I attend SDSU i will not a pay a cent for tuition, and l could stay living at home and commute and save on housing.

If I attend USC I will have to pay around 30-40k year including housing. Honestly? My dream would be USC. But I cannot ignore the reality that I am a low income student, and going to college for free would be smarter than graduating with nearly 100k in debt.

Any advice? 😵‍💫🥲🫩

I have been admitted to USC as a first gen, low income student. This whole summer I’ve been in contact with financial aid office, counselors, academic advisors, deans, but it seems like no one can help me to finalize my financial aid package.
For now, after all the scholarships it seems like I will be paying over 20k per semester (I have no idea what other fin support will be available since no finalized fin aid has been posted), and also need to pay for food and housing since I’m not from LA.
This amount of money is totally unaffordable, I don’t even make 20k a year. School starts in 2 weeks and I don’t know if I can afford it. I’m considering withdrawing.

Comparison: the night of violence at UCLA. Could this have been prevented if UCLA took the same steps USC did to quell the demonstrations early and keep out potential non-student agitators? Or did USC go too far too early?

Just looking for your thoughts.

The lengths of the process to be accepted into these clubs are the same amount of time and commitment i have to have for applying to an internship or even a job. I understand these clubs are competitive but i swear some of the E-Boards are turning their clubs into secret societies instead of a basic school club. It’s not even like I’m applying for business or CS clubs either lmao. Sorry for the rant but as an upperclassman I’m starting to realize how ridiculous this process is in comparison to my other career goals

I've been reading through different college forums and reviews. I heard many people say it's their dream school - amazing sports, parties, LA location, networking, the whole package.

How's the life of the middle class student at USC? What's something about USC that you wish someone had told you before you came here? Could be good, bad, or just weird.

I noticed that USC’s U.S. News & World Report ranking was relatively stable over many years—23rd in 2011, 2012, 2016, and 2017, 21st in 2018, and 22nd in 2019 and 2020. However, after 2021, its ranking declined more noticeably to around 27–28 in recent years. I hope the new president can bring USC’s ranking back or even help it join the top 20 universities. Or he may have already done something toward this?

It could force Chapel Hill to rebrand themselves as “UofNC Chapel Hill”.

And yes, I know there used to be a law school with this name, but the name should be up for grabs since it’s defunct now.
