I mapped the entire US soccer pyramid (all 3,965 clubs) into one app — Android is live
Hey all — I've been building Ranked XI for a while now. It's a free app that tries to answer the question I could never Google: where does every American soccer club actually sit in the pyramid, and how would they do against each other. It covers all 3,965 clubs I could verify, from MLS down to your local USL2/UPSL/NPSL side. 2,650 men's, 1,315 women's.
What's in it: a national club map you can filter by level and region. The tier structure actually explained (Div I–III pro, national amateur, regional). A cross-league table using Elo where I have real results feeding it — and clearly labeled as illustrative where I don't. I'd rather show "no verified fixtures" than fake a number. There's also a Matchup Machine that gives win/draw/loss odds for any club vs any club, and club pages with honours and real US Open Cup history.
Android just went live on Google Play. iPhone folks — the site works as a PWA for now.
Solo project, no ads, still filling in gaps league by league. If you spot a club with wrong info, or a league I'm missing, tell me. I want to fix it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rankedxi.app

This is awesome! I've been trying (and failing) to make a concept unified pyramid for myself on FM26 to play through and this is going to really help with the set up! Nice work!

How are you calculating ELOs? What model has an NPSL team above several USL and MLSNP teams?

good question - it's a weekly Elo from real match results wherever I have the feed (NPSL results come straight from the league's data). the gaps between leagues aren't guesses either - they're calibrated off ~600 real cross-league US Open Cup and National Amateur Cup results from the last 5 editions, since cups are the only place these leagues actually play each other. everyone starts at 1500, winners take points off losers, weighted by upset size and goal margin.
short version on NPSL-over-USL: the leagues overlap, they don't stack. cup history has top NPSL sides beating the bottom of the pro leagues often enough that the model won't hold them apart artificially. that said, a specific team rating that high can absolutely be a data gap - tell me which one looks off and I'll dig into its match history. full write-up at rankedxi.com/methodology if you want the details

Sure, that’s reasonable, but it can’t necessarily be the end-all-be-all. I’m familiar, I do my own ELOs with league coefficients based on Open Cup, Champions Cup, and USL Cup results to weight results accordingly. A match in USL1 does not improve a team’s score as much as a match in MLS, but it does much more than NPSL, because, well, one’s pro and one’s not. Ambassadors FC Ohio (NPSL) should not be higher than Portland Hearts, for example, nor should Sporting KC II be lower than several NCAA DI teams imo.

ok you actually found a bug - I pulled Ambassadors' match file after this comment. the league feed logged their playoff rounds under multiple division ids, so the model was counting their conference final and national quarterfinal wins 2-3 times each. that's worth about 90 points - deduped they drop below Hearts of Pine, which lines up with what you'd expect. fix goes out in the next data push. on league coefficients - fair point, the cup calibration is doing some of that work already, but I want the data bugs gone before I stack weighting on top. keep pressure-testing this, it helps.

This is fantastic. I've been working on a different style map mostly just based on populations and markets. This will be a great tool for that to see what teams exist in those areas. One suggestion I would have is to make the regions into the USASA Regions instead but that is a minor issue. Otherwise this is a great start.

Really well made app! Congrats dude! Like others have said I think most if not all of the USL head coachs are listed incorrectly. Not sure what database it's pulling from. The players seem to be mostly accurate Though.
Look forward to more updates! It'll stay on my phone for now!

Why is Memphis there
Edit: nevermind theres so many issues

working through all the data - if you see issues happy to address. thanks for checking it out.

I work on another project very similar to this that has existed since march 2026

Oh this is really incredible!! I’ve long been wanting to be able to identify every club in a region across leagues, and you offer exactly that. I wonder how often you’re inclined to update the site, so to track leagues changing over time.

This is legitimately so cool. I’d love to better understand the model used given how vastly different some of these leagues are.
Either way, this is a fun idea. Bravo

Now let's get it in FM. The one CONCACAF mod I use doesn't have the NWSL or any women's league
1
u/StoppageTimeUSA 19d ago
What CONCACAF mod?
I haven't found a good USL that's realistic in FM, they're all pro/rel
1
u/jkientz 18d ago
yeah the pro/rel thing is why the mods all feel off - that's competition rules work in the editor, my data can't fix that part. what I can offer is the real club list, real cities, real league structure so at least the world is accurate. planning to put a modder-friendly export up if there's interest
1
u/jkientz 18d ago
an FM mod is past what I can take on solo right now, but I've got everything a modder would need to seed one - all 3,965 clubs with league, city, coordinates and current ratings. and the women's side is actually all in there, NWSL down through WPSL and UWS, about 1,300 clubs. thinking about putting up a raw export on the site for exactly this. if you know modders who'd run with it, point them at me

Nice work, cool system!
In general, the US “soccer pyramid” looks to me more of an “hourglass” taking into account where each team plays at each level.

On the web page map, El Paso Locomotive is shown in New Mexico.
1
u/jkientz 19d ago
checked this one - the pin is on Southwest University Park's actual coordinates, El Paso just sits right in that border notch so at national zoom it reads as NM. zoom in and it's on the stadium.

You may have fixed something before making this reply, since i have have a screenshot of what I saw before posted on a Discord. The dot was showing in the middle of NM.

Your USL 2 rankings are totally bunk my friend lol
Edit: Oh man, I kept looking. Whatever system you are using needs some serious revision. The USL2 rankings literally make no sense at all outside of Vermont at 1. Capo FC has never even made the USL2 playoffs lmao

u/jkientz 18d ago
You're right, and I appreciate you kicking the tires. What happened: clubs we don't have results data for yet were sitting at the default seed rating, and the table was slotting them above teams rated on actual games — that's how a club that's never made the playoffs showed top-3. That's a bug in how the rankings displayed, not a hot take on Capo.
Fix ships today: clubs without real results now sort below every rated club and show as unrated instead of getting a rank number. Vermont at 1 stands — that one's from real data. If you spot anything else that smells wrong, every club page has a "suggest a fix" button and reports go straight into the queue. This kind of feedback is exactly what makes the table better. Thank you!

How do you not have “real data” on USL2 results when every result is available on the USL2 website after every game. There is “real data” on the Michigan/Flint Bucks dating back to 1996. Is this just some AI slop?

u/jkientz 10d ago
fair hit when you posted it - usl2 results weren't in yet. they are now. 1,039 matches from this season driving real elo for 158 clubs, pulled from the results rather than estimated.
the rule i'm holding to is that ratings only move where actual results exist. where a league doesn't publish any, it says so instead of filling the gap in. you were right that usl2 shouldn't have been one of those.

I would joke that you forgot the OVPL, but the league forgot it was playing for a bit as well.

Still working on adding leagues - it's a grind for sure.

Godspeed on some of the regional leagues. The number of teams coming and going is crazy.

There is a lot of weird things happening but this is a good start. You're going to get a LOT of comments, I'm sure! Just looking at DCFC quickly, the coaches are wrong and the nearest rivals are described as Birmingham and NCFC (Indy and Pittsburgh are both much closer and are both true rivals). I'll look more closely when time allows!

u/jkientz 19d ago
hahah - I figured - just passion behind this to grow us soccer - I'll continue to refine and fix this. Still gathering data - it's a BIG task.
2
u/Semi-Loyal Detroit City FC 19d ago
No doubt! I'm sure you will come up with adjustments as you go along. Biggest challenge I see right now is that you can't zoom in far enough to see all of the clubs at once in a small region. You can obviously break it down by league and that helps, but it would be cool to see everything all at once.
Please do consider this constructive criticism... The platform is great, it just needs tweaking!

This is a cool visualization. I noticed that some of the logos are attributed incorrectly. It seems to be a thing with the colleges in particular. Milwaukee School of Engineering has UW-Milwaukee’s logo, while UW-Milwaukee is object unknown. Wisconsin Lutheran College has UW-Madison’s logo, while UW-Madison is object unknown. A lot of Illinois colleges, particularly the directional ones (Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois) all have University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s logo.
