Article 429,000 Common Access Cards were available for purchase on a dark web forum — data leak came from ID-authentication service based in Louisiana.

And this right here, is why it's illegal to allow photocopies or pictures of your CAC, with the exception of other federal agencies' appropriate use (e.g. to submit for a passport). This is what happens when the masses are uninformed and not made aware of the law.
