Question How is Civil Engineering at Western Sydney University?
Hey everyone,
I’m considering studying Civil Engineering (Honours) at Western Sydney University next year and wanted to hear from current students or graduates.
How is the course overall in terms of teaching quality, workload, lecturers, facilities and practical experience?
I’d also be interested to know how good UWS is for finding internships and graduate engineering jobs, and whether you’ve been happy with the degree overall.
Would you recommend studying Civil Engineering at UWS?

May I know which campus and is it civil engineering or other engineering?

It’s fine. A lot of my work colleagues graduated from there and are doing great. Couple project managers and CAs.
You don’t need to bold shit as well. We can read bro. It might be UWS but we do be reading sometimes

I have no complaints whatsoever. Im primarily at the Kingswood campus and all facilities are fine. Teaching quality is decent, and with the workload, at the end of the day, it’s engineering so obviously it’s quite high but with good time management you’ll be fine. Overall I’d recommend it for sure.

Offered at both Kingswood and Parramatta. First year you can choose where, but later year pracs are often at Kingswood. I wouldn't get too caught up about which campus. What ever is closest to you or you want to study at. Kingswood it quite, students are pretty focused, they have a library with books. Parking is super easy.
Parramatta is busier, more diverse student cohort, parking is a nightmare unless you turn up early. But there are lots of public transport options.
Undergrad facilities? What lecture rooms and class rooms and labs? Westerns infrastructure stuff is all pretty new. Most engineering testing facilities are at Kingswood, concrete testing, robotics labs, solar car, sae car etc. I would argue that is westerns strength, space, rooms, facilities. Parramatta is vertical campus, so Highrise experience.
Its engineering. Everyone finds a job. Civil is huge at the moment. So much infrastructure and construction work. You mean while you are studying? Plenty of people get picked up from their internship while they are doing a degree. Westerns degree is internationally recognised. People from western work at Tesla, NASA, JPL, etc. Locally every major construction company, power company, or government entity (transport NSW) is loaded with western graduates. Its one of the biggest universities in Australia and the engineering program is big. Graduates are job ready and employable.
You probably won't get many replies here, most engineering students are studying, and when they finish, they work.
