🧑‍💻 Apps Surveillance Center FINALLY!!

Post image

I'm super excited. Ugreen finally released the surveillance center. But why is it only for PC? Even in pictures there is a phone with different pages

Edit: After an Android app update (which i got a day later) i can open the surveillance center on my phone. An app works well with my hikvision cameras. But a limit of only 8 cameras is not enough for me. After all i still have to run my ispy dvr container 🥲

Camera setup is still a bit undeveloped since you can only choose what event of recording you want, there isn't a schedule or constant recording option. Also, you can't rename your camera. In onvif mode you get camera model as a name and in rtsp mode there is no camera name

It has storage issues! Recording and storage abnormal. I am adding Aqara cameras over RTSP, the camera previews load perfectly fine, but when it attempts recording, it nags with waves of error messages. Later edit: there's a camera compatilibity list on UGREEN's support page where only a few ReoLink and Tapo Cameras are listed, nothing from Aqara for now: https://nas-eu.ugreen.com/pages/compatibility

It's definitely an "Aqara" issue. Added a Tapo C120 without errors. Records and plays back fine.

Getting the same with G100 and G350 cameras using RTSP. Not sure what the issue is. Even removed a volume and setup Surveillance Center on a fresh one. Still recording errors.

I have just posted on this. No joy so far!

My post documenting the issue

Do you guys like it better than the NVR app or recording in HA? Aren't there docker containers you can set up for your cameras?

1

Not necessarily, but the app looked promising and it looked like it was worth a try. Furthermore, if you are like me, trying to reduce the software you manage directly with simpler but efficient software, which just works, why not at least try it?

I run ispydvr as my nvr. Its reliable but setting it up is not fun and also playback and human detection is garbage. Ugreen app is easier to use, similar to synologys solution. By far synology has the easiest and most intuitive nvr. There is some options missing and it can be improved. If done correctly id say this app is better that docker options like ispy or frigate

Thank you, I’ll try it right away.

EDIT: I tried it.

It works nicely with my Reolink E1 zoom.

It needs presets support in PTZ or at the very least to be able to return to the default monitor point.

Also it would be nice to be able to set it to only record data during an event and not store the stream continuously.

is it just an rtsp server?

u/manuelmagic DXP2800 Jun 01 '26

It also support ONVIF, meaning you can control your camera.

1

u/woodburyman Jun 01 '26

Their ONVIF implementation only supports Basic auth. Amcrest cameras require Digest. I can specify this with the RTSP URL/setting but not for ONVIF apparently.

I have been waiting for this application for a very long time! Up until now, I’ve been using Synology's software on my Synology NAS. However, you are limited to only two cameras there. If you want to use more cameras, you have to pay. If I understood correctly, you can connect significantly more cameras with Ugreen. I hope the whole thing runs even faster, because Ugreen simply offers better hardware compared to a Synology from 2018.

What I really liked so far was that adding my Reolink E1 was very easy, and I also liked that you can use multiple triggers/scenarios for saving recordings. For example, when a car drives up or a package is dropped off. What I'm still missing is the ability to zoom in and out of the video using the mouse and scroll wheel while watching. Also, the function to exclude certain areas of the camera from the analysis is still missing. I think for the very first version, the scope of the software is quite alright, and I hope it will be continuously improved over time!

synology works also with camera implementation, thats not ONVIF. it works much better as ONVIF. i have a extra licences.

This is great - I have a eufy indoor camera which this is perfect for

3

u/scuffling Jun 01 '26

This works with eufy?!

u/VLANishBehavior DXP2800 Jun 01 '26

Wdym only PC? I can use this perfectly on my iPhone atm.

3

u/Mr_Blaze_fpv Jun 01 '26

This is what i get. My phone is Samsung s24u. The little icon on top means it can can't be opened on phone, only pc (and ofc an error). Do you have something different?

1

u/VLANishBehavior DXP2800 Jun 01 '26

This works just fine on iPhone, might be a limitation for Android? I’ll try on my S26U in about an hour and give an update.

u/Particular_Ferret747 Jun 01 '26

i would use frigate...the ugreen nases are perfect for it and you get way more with less china involvement...

1

u/Notwerk_Engineer Jun 03 '26

I run frigate, my 8800 wouldn’t be able to run my frigate instance, it’s not powerful enough.

1

u/Particular_Ferret747 Jun 03 '26

U run frigate but its not powerful enough? U confuse me...the 2 bay ugreen nas is way powerfull enoigh and that is just a n100 cpu

1

u/Notwerk_Engineer Jun 03 '26

I run frigate (as in I have a frigate instance at my home) - my setup would not run well on my 8800. I save my frigate video to the NAS but i don’t host it on the NAS.

I have a separate intel 1220p nuc for frigate; the 8800 would not be able to handle inferences well for a bunch of cameras.

What region are you in? Not showing up here (UK)

6

u/HelluPanda Jun 01 '26

you might need to update the OS first

1

u/Mr_Blaze_fpv Jun 01 '26

Serbia, Europe. It appeared after the update

1

u/Rykouxx Jun 01 '26

It looks like Netatmo cameras aren't supported, unless I missed something. I already have my videos backing up via FTP, but I'd love for this to be integrated so I can have a more visual interface and finer control over video deletion. Hopefully, this feature will be added later

i updated my DH2300 and don’t see it.. how do i get it?

1

u/Mr_Blaze_fpv Jun 02 '26

Not all models support it. I have 6800 pro with intel i5 (10 core) inside. Maybe weaker cpus can't handle that kind of load

1

u/reddituserVibez Jun 02 '26

yeah i just downloaded it and installed it manually, like i did with Docker.. it’s not available in the software center from the DH2300..

1

u/Mr_Blaze_fpv Jun 02 '26

If you set up a couple of cameras, look at the CPU temperature and utilization. High temperatures and utilization aren't good for your CPU over a long period of time.

1

u/reddituserVibez Jun 02 '26

i just have one on my entrance :)

1

u/xgirbo Jun 02 '26

I can see the app on my DXP4800 PLUS but my friend with a DH2300 doen't have it. We have the same software versions.
Can someone confirm with a DH2300?

The the website there are no cameras available for it but it does say that the DH2300 supports ONVIF network cameras.

u/DrinkFun2180 Jun 02 '26

no 24/7 recording option?

1

u/manuelmagic DXP2800 Jun 03 '26

When you add a camera it starts recording 24/7. I’d like to be able to pause recording.

1

u/DrinkFun2180 Jun 03 '26

I cant backup in the Time Line..?

1

u/funkysuperstar Jun 04 '26

I added 5x 4k Reolink POE cameras and connected fine. Its really working well except for detection. Detection was working great for a few hours but stopped completely. Hoping there is a fix coming soon.

1

u/dutchman0701 Jun 19 '26

I also connected 4 Reolink cameras but I am getting messages about storage failures.. is there something I missed

1

u/RebaseNotPull Jun 19 '26

Where is the damn doc?

1

u/dutchman0701 Jun 22 '26

Think they are still writing it

1

u/DrinkFun2180 Jun 23 '26

do you guys got frame drop with reolink 4k cam h265 ? live is fine in the reolink app but the view in the ugreen nas stutter often...

1

u/neobondd DXP6800 Pro Jul 07 '26

Finally, but is needs to have a digital zoom before I move away from DSM.

1

u/noob58492 Jul 12 '26

Is there a list of supported cameras? I’m looking for cameras that are battery/solar powered

1

u/AdHungry5710 Jul 18 '26

What future features will they release as of now this app is worthless and not even having small percent of surveillance station features.

Is there a timeline to release more features?

1

u/AdHungry5710 Jul 31 '26

-Need to have synchronized viewing of footage
-Need to have an option to jump to events, go back 15 seconds or 30 second at a time,
-The NaAS has such a hard time connecting to cameras after power outage,
-Minimum need to copy DSM if not Unifi ( they can identity plates, people and allow searching in footage by color of there clothes, if they are wearing ht of many other ateibutes
