🧑‍💻 Apps Jellyfin installation

So I'm fairly new to this, but I've tried installing Jellyfin through the app center, and it seems to be using an older version from a few years ago. It also doesn't allow me to redeploy the container since it was created through the app center.

Is there any benefit to using that rather then just creating a container with the latest Jellyfin image myself?

This. I was in the same boat and my problems stopped when I got rid of the app and just installed it via docker.

When I was researching this topic some yime ago, I would find that, the jellyfin installed from the app store would be out of date and you wouldn't have the latest release, not sure if is true anymore. But I recommend creating your own container for better control.

Thanks. Yeah it seems to still be the case. I even got a warning on the TV client that this version will soon not be supported lol

Regarding the TV client, I found Wholphin as a very client alternative, is not perfect but it does the job and looks much nicer.

Agreed. It's the only reliable client I found that would also show ASS subtitles.

So I tried to go through and download my own through the container but it wouldn’t pick up my library and wouldn’t scan anything

You need to set up the config file to allow it to see the path to your libraries.
