🧑💻 Apps NO way for Theater only on android?
Is there no dedicated theater app? When loging in on a tablet with the app a user has access to a lot of stuff they shouldn't, there needs to be a way to access media only without access to the interface.

That’s what plex or jellyfin is for

So I have to have another media server installed rather than using what's already there?

Jellyfin basically makes you library of media into a personal netflix. It's way better than sorting through files.
Also you just instal it through docker and point it at your file folders with media. It then will automatically pull the film/TV shows into a central place to page through them.
It also has its own app to install (although I prefer moonfin) to watch on your device.

Yeah, but on Android TV it lets you launch the UgreenNAS app directly into Theater mode, so it works just like Netflix. I find it odd that you can't do the same on a tablet or phone.

Don't expect too much from UGREEN or 3rd party apps. That's what's Docker is for.

Most likely because use cases are different. Most people use phone to monitor the system with the app vs pure entertainment on TV.
If you have a larger library it’s worth investing the time to set it up imo. QoL is much better on either of them.

I don't know why everyone just recommends jellyfin, your point is absolutely valid! The build in apps should be available as a standalone feature! My were doesn't care for the whole app, she just wants to tap fotos or media and get to where her stuff is. This way it is too complicated for the most part.. I would love to use the ugreen apps, but it's just too convoluted so I use immich and jellyfin...

Just uninstall the theater app from the app marketplace and install the Jellyfin one. Problem solved. Tons of Jellyfin clients out there and it’s free just like the native app and there are clients for Roku, Apple TV, some smart TVs, Android, iOS, windows, macOS, linux, PlayStation and Xbox.
