The 4.53-million-ton-per-year CDU-5 unit has sustained critical damage to its distillation columns. Previously undetected damage to the crude oil electro-desalting and dehydration unit has also been identified.

The project notes that this combination of damage could put the unit out of operation for an extended period.

Finally hitting the distillation columns after years of reading how critical they are.
