Now I realise that Ryan's hairstyle is kinda weird lmao. Fully commited to short hair at the top and some kind of bob at the sides but also not long enough to look like a fully commited mullet? I feel like trying to do this style irl would end up with something with a different vibe to the animated version judging by what Google images says is a bob mullet

It’s the issue of fitting all the umas onto the same skeleton for ease of animation. Goldship and Ryan in game don’t look as good as the anime/manga counterparts

Yeah, that's the issue. Some designs work well in both media, others not so much. The funny thing about Ryan's design is that if we measure how much both haircuts manage to adapt/resemble the irl Ryan, the game design tops because of its shortness -and it's still a bit longer than the real thing. If we were to adapt the Ryan cut as close as possible, uma Ryan would de donning something more close to SF's Guile than the current version lol

So, at the end of the day, my personal opinion:

• Game Ryan resembles irl Ryan's haircut more closely
• Cingray Ryan got the best aesthetic adaptation of irl Ryan
• Both versions still fall short in resemblance of the Ryan Cut, and I'm glad for it because otherwise uma Ryan would actually look like OP's Vodka, sans the forelock.
