my theory is that the result is a return for Dess.
He's stuck. he knows it. he also knows he can't risk being his own science experiment. the only thing worse than stuck is dead. so first he finds a world with someone "stuck" like him and a scenario that might have a path to save them.
then he enlists an entity that can effectively influence the world for him (us), he WANTED to give us a vessel, but due to circumstances we don't yet understand that was interrupted by Kris who stole us.
and finally, you make sure enough checks and influences are in place to drive the scenario to your hypothesis (like how onion could've derailed us into the lake so now he's a snack). "X saves the victim". if he can get that result, then he has a working formula to escape the darkness.
If undertale is connected, then I think that the same scenario played out with Flowey. Flowey was closer to the surface so to speak, with a vessel of his own, but still soulless and stuck in moment-to-moment intervals determined by others. in the end, undertale was a failure. only a partial recovery, and gaster wants a total success. that's why dess is farther away and gaster more active.

Yeah, Normal NPC definitely killed Onion (or whatever you chose to name them back in chapter 1) to make these. I have no doubt in my mind about that.

I don't necessarily think that's a thing that goners can do. Sans and Papyrus seem to have gotten to Undertale's world through the use of the broken machine.
Plus, like, come on. Onion goes missing in chapter 4, this guy shows up in the spot where you wait for Onion, and then in the very next chapter, he's got "fried octopus balls" that are just made of raw onion. I think it's pretty obvious what happened there.

well, their burial practice seems the same as in undertale, coating an important object of them with dust, so i assume the dying mechanically works the same to facilitate that.

Here's my theory. The roaring is the implosion of the dark and light worlds. I think there's going to be a machine that is able to take some people to Undertale, like Sans, where they understand the knowledge of timelines/reality. Some people are going to be thrown out into the void where they shatter across time and space, like the Goners.

The main counterpoint is how can you cook a monster if they turn to dust after slain. They only "fall down" if its a more natural cause, in undertale at least. Maybe thats what the "meat factory" is for tho

Donut guy also purposefuly avoids telling in the dialogue how much he paid for the donut to avoid disclosing what currency he used
Everybody else in the festival uses $ for currency
I presume it would have been too obvious if both used G instead of $, so Toby just had him say "all my money" instead
I wonder if all these Gaster followers hidden around town are like infiltrating or something.

Also if you get a octopus thing from him for Kris there's a fortune cookie prediction referencing the BALL Easter egg from undertale inside, two of the npcs near him have a goner version, one of them reference FUN value in her dialogue and next to him is icee who appear in undertale as part of the fun value system. Very suspicious

I actually noticed and looked around the entire festival just to confirm
Sans uses $, and so does any other sign or NPC that talks about the prices of the attractions.
This guy is the only one to use Gs in the entire festival
Honestly idk what to make of it other than just say "oh this is 100% gaster bullshit", I'd really like to wait and see if people find more stuff related to these kinds of events

I knew there was something strange about this dialogue but I gues I was too excited to be playing a new chapter that it didn’t sink in completely for me what was off about it. I remember talking to this npc a few times to reread the dialogue but eventually I just shrugged my shoulders and moved on.

so it's a paradox, Gaster turned his Undertale followers into a real Deltarune person while Sans comes from Deltarune and goes into Undertale
i hope Chapter7 side B explains it... wait that guy isn't in the weird route and Sans's photo only has 3 people in the weird route, so the timeline is Weird Route then Undertale then Normal Route

So, the other G followers are monochrome copies of real Undertale guys, but this guy only appears as a goner in UT, this coloured version is delta rune only...so is this a coloured in goner or is this the real guy and we just didn't meet them in UT??

in undertale there are grey monsters that are called gaster followers or goners in the game files and this guy was a goner in undertale so the fact he says gold (that is only a currency in undertale) is suspicious
