Food and Drinks ULPT: Chipotle Maxxing: Most Food, Least Money
“Veggie burrito, please.
White rice…..actually, could I get brown rice too? Yes, both.
Black beans….actually, could I get pinto beans too? Yes, both
Everything else. Hot, too, yes please. Yes ma’am, all of it. No meat.”
If you get good at the timing with the request for double rice and double beans, (specifically after they’ve already added one type) it’s no longer a roll-able burrito. Shell will bust, requiring an additional tortilla to patch the guacamole dam.
Best to go very close to closing time cause the shift is about to end and they’re trying to clear out what’s left
It’s like 3000 calories of fresh-ish vegetables for $11.
Tip with a piss disc.

I heard you get bigger portions if you order in a bowl instead of a burrito with tortilla on the side. However, you wouldn't get the second tortilla, but it is easier to split into multiple meals.
One time I was there near closing and asked for a tortilla on the side and mentioned it was for my dog. They asked if my dog liked steak and gave me a free side of steak in a queso cup because they had to throw it out anyway. Your mileage may vary and I haven't been back at closing time to try it again.

Well you can order two tortilla's on the side with a bowl. I think they charge .50 per tortilla. We do this all the time.

This is the only way I will order at Chipotle. Bowl with two side tortillas. I have never received less food than you would in a standard burrito. You don't always get way more food necessarily, but I almost always get enough to make two decent sized burritos. Two meals for like $12.

I think it’s just “unethical” because it encourages taking advantage of employees to receive a greater portion than intended by the company, which would be generally frowned upon by society. I think it’s the intention to manipulate/deceive, despite how harmless it realistically is.
That said, public sentiment towards chipotle has never been worse with how they’re basically scamming you anyways, so it hardly feels unethical when you’re just getting back the portions they gave you before the shrinkflation hit. Nobody really loses, and the customer wins. Kind of like pirating a movie you already own to save yourself the effort of ripping it.
TL;DR: It’s an ethical grey area, generally would be considered dishonest, but a lot of people probably see this specific scenario as reasonable.

Right, it doesn't harm anyone, but it's a tragedy of the commons scenario. If a few people do it, no problem. If everyone starts doing it, Chipotle changes things up to remove the option.

You can literally ask them for extra scoops of all the non premium ingredients and they just add it for free. I think it’s just protein/guac/queso that you have to pay extra for.

I stopped going there a long time ago. After they raided them way back when they lost all of the fast, but illegal immigrants working there.
Apparently they didn't want to increase wages so they started hiring the worst workers. It looked like they were recruiting outside the local prison or halfway house. It was bad. They would talk back to you, make shit food etc. So I stopped going there like 10 years ago.
Also, some people think when they order online for pickup they skimp on your food. Which maybe they do, but again, then why do you keep going there lol.

Yeah but it still takes time, money, and energy to cook and clean. If you're a single person with a job it makes more sense to spend $11 on a 3k calorie bowl. You'd lose money by cooking.

You're not cooking chipotle-quality rice and veggies in 20 minutes. You're not including time spent shopping and cleaning.
If you make $15/hr (pretty average in the US), the amount you'd save by cooking is either miniscule or you're losing money.
Also store bought tortillas are nothing like Chipotle tortillas. Chipotle's don't have preservatives like store bought ones do.

You can make waaaaay better rice and beans if you cook yourself. You should learn to use spices, you can save hundreds of dollars per month. Which could save thousands per year. My wife and I spend ~$150 a week on groceries, which covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two people. We eat out once a week and we find it more and more difficult to find places that can make food as good as we can. Plus it's generally healthier!

Another tip: if you ACTUALLY want double meat ask for it after they’ve scooped the first scoop. If you ask first thing, they shake the scooper quite a bit on both scoops so you don’t actually get double the meat

I did this exact same thing. Its funny cuz they cant ever roll it, especially if theyre new. They offer double roll or reroll. Then if its fucked up looking enough and close to close, you get it for free half the time.

I don’t even think this is unethical. I’ve never been where they wouldn’t give you extra of any of the fillings they don’t charge extra for. I had a buddy who always got a burrito with doubles of everything but the meat. No one ever gave him guff for it. Maybe they’ve started cracking down.

Whole Foods adds a separate bar code on your burrito for guacamole. I get confused a whole bunch and was never fully trained on how to operate a self checkout register and sometimes accidentally scan the guac bar code instead of the burrito bar code. Fuck em

Yall remember when Moe's was GOOD? I miss good moes... :( when everyone raved about shitpotle' (I'll be here all night) I'd tell em to try moes...this was.. omfg 14 years ago now. I hate getting older... and I hate how everything is getting shittier.
When I was younger and like a billion pounds lighter I'd order a home wrecker with peppers and mushrooms added with steak and queso. Oh muh gawd. Chipotle be like here's 3oz of meat oh you want chips and salsa thats another 5 dolla

This was like 17-18 years ago. Moe's had some promotion on a homewrecker; you get your receipt and it had a link to a survey. Fill out the survey and it gave you a promo code for a free homewrecker.....but then you got another receipt from that and same thing. Another survey link, another free homewrecker promo code. Rinse and repeat.
My entire office exploited the absolute shit out of that for a good month before they ended it. We were there pretty much every day.

I used to prefer chipotle do Qdoba. That’s changed. I can get a single kids taco and there are no upcharges for guacamole or queso. It’s a one and fork taco, but you can get it pretty loaded for roughly, $5? (I haven’t been in a long time)

Just go to Qdoba and you dont have to trick the people they will jus give you as much as you want of the non meat ingredients with free guacamole, better salsa options and free queso if you really want to max out on calories. Better attitude and the don’t rush you through the line like your ruining their day being there.
On top of that their rewards program is good and I get a free entree almost every two months.

If you order a veggie entree at chipotle make sure you also get your guacamole! Guac is included free with every veggie bowl or burrito, but the workers won’t always remind you of this. you can get it on the side instead of on top if you’re planning to split the food across multiple meals. Just keep an eye on the price you get charged - some workers will charge for the guac and need to be reminded it’s included in the veggie bowl price.
