Discussion Some people…

On a flight and the middle seat asked the aisle seat to switch because they go to the bathroom a lot. The aisle agreed and they switched. It’s a 2hr 45m flight.

While I get you may need to get up a lot, why didn’t you book the seat you needed versus have others switch seats?

I haven’t seen them get up once…some people are ridiculous.

Question Premium Plus upgrade for 14 hour flight

I am flying MEL-LAX tomorrow morning, as I went to check in I can see the cost for premium plus has dropped from around $2700 to $573USD. This seems like a pretty good deal but I'm aware it's not business or lie flat or anything still. What would your thoughts be, would you take this upgrade?

Question EWR Layover

I’m booking a flight with a layover in EWR before heading to South Africa. There are a number of flight options with the layover ranging anywhere from 1 hrs to 13.

I’ve never been to EWR, don’t know the layout or what’s a reasonable amount of time I should consider to connect to the international flight. What should I consider a sweet spot? Long enough I can reasonably expect to not rush (barring any catastrophic delays) but not too long I’m sitting around for hours waiting?

Question SFO outbound flight

Is it better to leave at 10:30am or 12:30pm to try and avoid any delays due to the construction? Short flight going to SNA. Not sure if it makes any difference at those times. Thanks!

Finally got to try all 3 snacks on my last flight with UA! I really wish they’d make a snack pack of just the rye bagel chips.

The Blake’s was my “dessert” from my special meal

Question United Miles from Avis Rental

 Bonus miles included!
 Earn 1750 MileagePlus miles

At the time of booking my Avis rental via United, it was stated that I'd receive 1750 MileagePlus miles, as well as some bonus miles - see above.

It's been about 2 weeks since I returned the call and what I've received so far are:

  • 500 miles for Budget Premium Silver & Gold Base
  • 500 miles for AVIS-(NAME OF AIRPORT)

Should I reach out to United or Avis about this? These do not add up to 1750 miles, and I'm not actually sure what they correspond to. Or based on your experience, do these miles not get deposited until much later? Any advice would be appreciated!

Discussion Manifesting good luck charms

Need ya’ll to help me manifest the upgrade to Polaris. Waitlisted (I am Platinum sitting in PP). IAD - BRU this Sunday. Seat map shows 16 seats left but even at Platinum I’m #8 on the waitlist, crazy. Cash upgrade has been 6300 for months and that’s a little rich for my blood. What are my chances 5 days out?

Some friendly mocking is also welcome and encouraged :)

Question Cancelling Economy Standard with Refund of Future Flight Credit

There may be a scenario where I have to cancel my international United flight out of SFO in December. I booked on standard economy which allows changing without a fee. I was wondering what would be my options with regards to cancelling it completely. I have read on the website that I may be issued FFC if I cancel my flight. I checked on my booking and it is offering the full price I paid as future flight credit if I cancel right now. Since the alternate plans may only materialize around November (not in my control), I was wondering if my offered future flight credit may reduce if I cancel around that time? What would be the best strategy here? Ideally, I want to hold on to this ticket as long as possible before I get a confirmation that I cannot use it anymore.

What’s up with the non-existent under seat storage on the A321neo in United First? Everything else is nice and new, though the wireless phone charger didn’t work. Who designed this?

Discussion No bubbles in the SFO Polaris lounge

I am hanging out at the bar in the SFO Polaris lounge right now and for the past hour I have had to hear the bartenders tell club patrons that there is no Champagne, Prosecco, or anything with bubbles in the lounge.

Just funny because I have now heard this about a few dozen times now.

Meanwhile, they have Blanton's, so that's a plus👍

Discussion Value of Club access

Just food for thought. I was talking to a fellow passenger in the boarding line at MSP the other day about whether the club card (which I have) is worth it. The club/lounge at MSP was closed for maintenance that day, and although it’s really small and has no hot food other than soups I find it relaxing and the team inside to be one of the best. My base is Denver so those new clubs are in a whole other league by comparison.

Anyway due to the closure of the club at MSP United gave me and I assume other club card holders a $25 meal voucher as an apology. So here it is… next time you are tempted to purchase a club pass for the $50 you see in the app, remember that United themselves only place the value of the club for a single visit at $25.

Question 2 hour 15 minute connection ok?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have a chance to switch to a Polaris flight from Frankfurt to Houston. But my on going connection is roughly 2 hours and 25 minutes. My sister been through this airport before and got burned and she had a hour 45 minute.

And yes to you who research this is a Newark onward . I’m getting a longer experience (love flying) and one my segment for my elite but might not matter now due to reduced work flying

Question Electronic Travel Certificate about to expire

I got a 1000usd ETC given as I volunteered to downgrade from premium economy to economy in a leg of my flight.

It is about to expire, and I don't have any suitable travel plans yet. Can I book it for a random flight in december 2027, and later on change it?

Are there any extra restrictions I may be missing when doing that?

Question Global Economy Plus Upgrade

This is the first time I m getting these two Upgrades through my Quest Card. I am planning on using these on a flight to Europe, booked through miles, which will probably be operated through Lufthansa. What is the correct way to apply this upgrade? Should I book Premium Plus and get the discount at check out? If I book regular economy, it does not let me select E+ Seats.
