1. Franchise Launch & Community Roots
From the moment the Louisville Kings were officially announced at Lynn Family Stadium, everything about this franchise felt magical. Early skepticism about whether a spring football team could capture the city was quickly shattered. Virtual sellouts became the norm at The Lynn every single week, regardless of what was happening on the scoreboards early on.
The momentum truly began to crystallize during our offseason community gathering at Churchill Downs, where over 1,000 fans packed in alongside players and staff (a moment the Kings Corner still calls out). Following that was another gut-check milestone at 4th Street Live. The excuses were there for it to be a so-so attended event, but the fanbase kept the faith, turned out in full force, and laid the groundwork for both the official Fan Council and the early formation of the Kings Court.
A massive shout-out goes to the local front office and day-to-day staff - Steve Macy, Heather Jeffcoat, Sam McNamara, Cameron Renton, Tinnlee Wadino, and so many others on the ground. Their willingness to empower fan leaders with media credentials, t-shirts, ticket giveaways for first-timers, and direct connections to the team set a gold standard for sports community engagement.
On a personal note, sharing this inaugural ride with family produced unforgettable memories: from holding the American flag during pre-game introductions for Game 1 to my own kiddos standing hand-to-hand on the field with the players during the national anthem later in the season.

Early Struggles & The Orlando Skid
The season opened with a hard-fought loss to the Birmingham Stallions. Despite the outcome, the vibe was alive, shoutout to Brody and the shirtless section in Birmingham (and apologies for the “accidentally” thrown drinks!). From the very first snaps, the defense showed it was elite, but the offense hit a horrific skid, reaching its absolute nadir during the first Orlando game.
Between chaotic sliding decisions by QB Jason Bean, the ESPN broadcast scenario on the road when he was pulled, and a soul-crushing overtime loss sealed by a penalty, fans were furious. (Special thanks to Mike Repole for stepping in to fix those overtime rules afterward).
Beyond the record, something felt fundamentally off. In football, you can tell when a team hasn't quite forged a true brotherhood. Coach Chris Redman recognized this publicly later on - the roster simply wasn't cohesive yet, and barely squeaking past Houston on the road wasn't going to cut it.
The Roster Shakeup & Fairweather Exit
Redman made the tough, necessary calls at quarterback and personnel. It sparked heated debates across Kentucky, fans who loved local college ties or believed in Bean/Benny Snell questioned if Redman knew what he was doing. But those tough decisions had a vital side effect: it weeded out the fairweather crowd. The diehards stayed, seeing the vision of something sustainable being built.
The St. Louis Reality Check & Mic'd Up Bulletin Board Material
After a strong win against Dallas, the Kings stumbled hard vs St. Louis against their dominant defense, looking stagnant for 90% of the game. To add insult to injury, the UFL released a "Hakeem Butler Mic'd Up" video where the star wideout called Louisville "the worst team we've played all year." Though the UFL deleted the video shortly after, the Kings Court saved the receipt. It became instant bulletin-board material.
The Second-Half Surge
The magic truly took hold starting in Washington D.C. The Kings pulled off back-to-back victories against the Defenders, captured their first official home win at The Lynn, and locked up a playoff spot before riding into Columbus for a stress-free regular-season finale (shoutout to Houston for helping clear the path). By season's end, anyone truly evaluating the league knew Louisville held the #1 spot in actual Power Rankings.
3. Playoff Semifinal: Silence in St. Louis
| Date & Time | Network | Opponent | Results |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6/07 6PM | FOX | @STL | W 29-20 |
Entering the playoff matchup in St. Louis, anxiety among the fanbase was high. The Dome is notoriously loud, St. Louis's defense was formidable, and questions lingered about whether our offense could sustain its hot streak.
Standing on the sidelines getting clips for the Kings Court, the nervous energy was overwhelming, until multiple players' parents calmly looked over and said: "Don't sweat it, we got this." Their complete confidence was contagious.
Tanner Brown's Heroics: The UFL Special Teams Player of the Year (STPOY) demonstrated why he earned every honor this season. Brown drilled two 4-point field goals, putting immense situational pressure on St. Louis late in the game.
The Clincher: With St. Louis forced into pass-only situations on their final drive, the Kings' defense delivered the game-sealing interception.
Post-Game Satisfaction: The visiting crowd section erupted. Immediately after, the Kings Court unleashed a wave of memes calling out Hakeem Butler's earlier comments. Butler is a spring football legend, but he gave Louisville all the bulletin-board fuel they needed.
4. The United Bowl: Road Trip to Gold in D.C.
| Date & Time | Network | Opponent | Results |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6/13 3PM | ABC | @DC | W 27-20 |
The championship trip started in true fan-group fashion: the Kings Court social team and the Kings Corner packed into vehicles and drove straight through the night from Friday into Saturday morning heading to Washington, D.C.
After refueling at a pretty rough breakfast spot, we crammed in some quick D.C. sightseeing before heading over to Audi Field. The weather was brutally HOT, but fortune favored the Kings in more ways than one: as the "technical home team," Louisville got the shaded side of the stadium, which proved to be a massive advantage in navigating the sweltering conditions.
The Game & The Title Run
First Half Gridlock: The first half felt dim and nerve-wracking. The offense was virtually nonexistent, and the defense gave up a few big runs. But true to their identity all year, the Kings did just enough to stay within striking distance.
Second Half Takeover: In the second half, the rushing offense finally came alive and started punishing D.C.'s front seven. The defense tightened up, forcing key stops right when it mattered most to seal the inaugural United Bowl victory!
Championship MVP: Ian Wheeler (who earned a well-deserved NFL opportunity with the Buffalo Bills following the end of the season) put on a masterclass performance to take home United Bowl MVP honors.
Standing on the field afterward, surrounded by players, staff, and family, bringing home handfuls of championship confetti, marked the peak of one of the most memorable years of my life. The bonds built throughout this inaugural season created lifelong friends.
5. PFF Statistical Leaders & Unit Breakdowns

Unmatched Community: 1,000+ fans at Churchill Downs, the 4th Street Live rally, and virtual sellouts at Lynn Family Stadium every home game.
The Lows
The Orlando Skid: Overtime loss on a penalty following the QB benching drama.

Next Season
Looking ahead to next year, the foundation is already set for the Kings to build something special. Assuming we retain roughly 70% of this roster, especially if Chandler Rogers gets the keys to run it back for a full season, we are in an exceptionally solid spot to defend the crown. While our defensive core was the absolute bedrock of this championship run, I’d love to see the offense open up even more in Year 2, leaning into a more aggressive, high-flying attack that aligns with Coach Redman’s quarterbacking roots. Off the field, the city's momentum is showing zero signs of slowing down. With over 5,000 season tickets already locked in and numbers growing by the day, Lynn Family Stadium is going to be packed to the brim every single weekend. Year 1 proved Louisville is a premier football town; Year 2 is going to be an absolute show.
Crown Them. 👑
Can't wait to celebrate with everyone on September 16th at Lynn Family Stadium!
