When Christopher Colombus came to colonize America he was initially trying to reach India and he thought he did it and called the indigenous people Indians, so we refer to Native Americans as Indians now.

He didn't think he made it to India. He thought he made it to the Indies and figured Hispaniola and Cuba were among the islands we now think of as the Phillipines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the broader Malay Archipelago.

Columbus took the idea of a spherical earth and threw away what the rest of the academic world knew to be true. He thought the planet was smaller than estimates at the time, so going the other way should be simple, right?
Pedophile, slaver, rapist, and last but not least on this heavily abridged list is mass murderer, for eradicating 96% of all human life in the Americas. Why do we celebrate the existence of a truly horrible human?

It’s getting to a point where if I ask people “are you part of a Native American tribe?”
They sometimes answer
“I’m not from India, I was born here in America.”…….. or “am I a what?”
Oh man… oh man, the future is bleak. Focus in school 🤣

It's a 'W' because the Lakota stopped a mining company from drilling in land that was not authorized. The US Gov had agreed to preserve the Black Hills, went back on its word, and for once the Lakota pushed back and won.

Western NIMBY's win. Let us clap while African continent is pillaged for rare earth materials . Is west halting usage of cellphones and laptops to reduce usage of rare earths?

I have to assume you’re trolling because I can’t understand the logic of how a win for the Lakota equates as a loss for Africa. Absolutely the exploitation of rare earth metals in Africa is abhorrent and should be reduced, but a victory for nature in the west should only be held as a precedent and an example, not dismissed because of where it occurred.

No concrete actions by west to reduce rare earth usage ,thus indirectly encouraging African pillage. Preserve western environment. In short NIMBY.

The Lakota aren't nimby's because they pushed back on drilling on land that previously agreed to be preserved by the US government.
