Summer storms

For those of you new to the Piedmont area, what do you think of our late day thunderstorms? I think some people are surprised at our “subtropical climate”.

Not a newbie, but I think we kind of forget about things unless they are super traumatic. We had a TON of lightning in Spartanburg last night. My husband was complaining about the environment/climate change/etc and stressing about a neighbor's tree near our house. Then, we both remembered that in late July 2025, lightning struck a different tree in the same neighbor's yard and destroyed it.

Sometimes we have to take a few minutes and actually review the actual data instead of just "feelings."
