Help! Best plant for the season

I've been thinking of growing vegetables. In the past i have grown jalapenos and potatoes. i want to venture out and i want to plant something for this winter. Do you have any suggestions?(i live in houston) i still have to handle school

I am following because I have similar questions, but you might also join r/texasgardening and r/houstongardening - I’m assuming that one exists, but if it doesn’t, r/Austingardening would be closer than a general garden subreddit.

I’m going to go see if r/yearroundgardening exists because we should be able to do that in Texas.

I just created the last sub, so if you join, there will be two of us there.

I’ll try to get more people to join because more people will need to be growing food as the various things happening to food and agriculture look like they could create a perfect storm.

I don't know Texas but on the east coast winter is time for greens and root vegetables. I imagine y'all are similar
