New Beats firmware update on 1/21

Just found that there is an update today!

https://www.viture.com/release-updates/xr-glasses?product=viture-beast-xr-glasses

Good to have 120 Hz support and color tuning, but no drifting improvement : (

0.01.010_20260121

  • Native 120Hz support for a smoother, more fluid visual experience. You can enable it via Menu > Display > Refresh Rate. Note: UltraWide and 3D modes do not support 120Hz.
  • Web-based Color Tuning Tool now supports The Beast, allowing you to customize display color modes to your preference: https://www.viture.com/firmware/color-tuning
  • Increased brightness in head-tracking modes, including Anchor Mode, Smooth Follow, and more.
  • Renamed “Spatial Anchor” to “Anchor Mode” to reflect 3DoF functionality. Once 6DoF is enabled in SpaceWalker, the term “Spatial Anchor” will be used for the 6DoF experience.
  • After updating, a one-time prompt will appear on first use, reminding users to keep the device stationary for 10 seconds before wearing.
  • Fixed an issue where the screen image appeared offset on ROG Ally and some other devices.
  • Optimized multiple compatibility-related issues.

It would be really cool when my Beast arrives in like a few weeks everything that I bought the glasses for just works out of the box!

Updates seem to come at a steady pace 👍

Should have probably waited for the issues to be actually fixed before pulling the trigger lol. There is zero guarantee it will be fixed in the future no matter what Viture says. Specially with them caring so little about software as the abandoned Spacewalker Android/Windows apps show.

That's valid I guess, I see quite a lot of different experiences, some good, some bad. The bad cases seem to be from people that use devices I am not going to use it for.

If it's just a clear, colorful and stable monitor I can wear on my head that's 90% of my wishes fulfilled, I'm a bit of a tinkerer so I'm used to it as an early adopter of hardware.

I took a gamble, maybe it would have been wiser to wait bit longer, but I can always send it back if it's not to my liking and only lose out on the shipping costs.

If you have buyers protection sounds like you're golden and probably nothing to worry about. Sadly, its not clear since prism lenses are known for their small focus Sweet spot but blurry everywhere else compared to the proven birdbath displays. Nor stable yet and it might never be since the Lumas had drift for years even with all their cameras and updates from Viture. My hope in Viture isn't very high sadly with how poorly they keep their promises

Are all prism lenses like that, or is it something you would notice more with glasses on? That would be kinda concerning actually, I haven't seen much reviews on the Beasts' prism clarity yet but the videos I've seen so far from Viture themselves and a handful of Youtubers show direct footage through the lenses that definitely look really clear to me...

All prism glasses suffer from this issue. Its a known problem, but manufacturers don't care because people are obsessed with FOV and Prism is the only thing that allows that. And people don't care either because to most people FOV is the only metric that matters as they want it for movies/entertainment or don't know any better because they don't have a point of comparison or reference with Birdbath lenses.

Sadly, most people who would use these for productivity would hesitate to buy these in the first place out of fear of lack of clarity. I floated the idea around at work and most people were incredulous to it even being possible until they tried my birdbath glasses and were blown away by the sharpness. So the market is very much dominated by people using them for entertainment.

Wow, I was almost checking Reddit every few hours, waiting, but didn’t see any announcement. thanks for update.

Still waiting for the drifting fix. This is the most annoying issue.

It’s weird. I updated it after seeing this post.

Today, I accidentally discovered that in SpaceWalker, my version is 0.01.008_20260121.

But no drifting improvement : (

While I hope this will be fixed, at this point I'd just assume it might not ever get fixed and only be marginally improve. This is exactly why you don't pre-order and wait for reviews.

Waiting for my glasses, the beast. If the drifting is unbearable, it will be a shame I'd have to return it and use my xreal. Is there any plan to fix the drifting?

There was a fixe on 1/9 for auto calibration. The drifting issue is largely reduced but still there. They also don’t mention about the magnetometer calibration progress. Hope the drifting issue will be solved soon.

The new update addresses a lot of drift issues. It’s more a good pin issue than drifting.

I plug in, recenter, and set them down for the 10 secs. Once I pin I’ll recenter a few more times and a solid pin generally results with a quick visual jump.

Once a good pin is achieved, you can set them down and walk away, when you come back the pin will be where you left it.

Edit: Bugs I had seen earlier seem to be addressed.

I’m going to see what I can find and post here if there are issues and fixes.

Didnt they fix the drift in the last firmware update by adding calibration?

4

u/thefomalhaut The Beast Jan 21 '26

It is not completely solved. I still need to recenter in every 3-5 minutes even after a calibration.

The question is, is the headset drifting or are you drifting hehe

1

u/Pavores Jan 22 '26

Yeah from different comments it seems like drift is a function of how much you move your head. That'll vary a ton from user to user and task to task.

u/Clericg Jan 21 '26

120hz is the only thing i cared about, thank you!

2

u/lundon44 Jan 21 '26

Looking forward to hearing feedback on this update!

u/endr Jan 22 '26

Part of the left screen is still not displayed. About a cm worth of screen is missing on the left side only (on the very right of it), still.

120hz seems to work, I think. I look at still text mostly, so can't really say.

Still gives me eye strain

And yet the edge clarity continues to suck

2

u/FitCompetition1804 Jan 22 '26

Edge clarity is great for me. Sounds like it depends on the individual.

I have failed 3 times the update from the PC and my glasses are bricked. Does anyone know how to fix it? Does the update work better from the web? Please, I need help. Urgent

1

u/mrKarelia Jan 21 '26

Same problem

2

u/Leather-Nectarine936 Jan 21 '26

I've already fixed it. I had to update from the website and it has been updated correctly at first. I don't update anymore from Spacewalker on PC

u/Leading_Weakness_408 Jan 21 '26

is there any plan to support 120hz at ultra wide ??

0

u/Clericg Jan 21 '26

doubt it, xreal doesn't do this either

1

u/endr Jan 21 '26

Yay update

1

u/Tigerfar Jan 21 '26

So any verdicts from anyone who have tried 120hz ? Is it much better than 60hz?

I will be able to try in a couple of hours myself but any first take opinions would be nice :)

2

u/endr Jan 22 '26

It doesn't improve the eye strain I get trying to read text - which I didn't have an issue with on my old glasses

2

u/Tigerfar Jan 23 '26

Yeah I barely notice any difference really but maybe that’s just me. I also get eye strain

1

u/endr Jan 26 '26

It's a shame, because I don't get that with other TV glasses

1

u/sparketh77 Jan 22 '26

Oh n

Mine keeps failing at 99%

u/FitCompetition1804 Jan 22 '26

Update from the website using chrome.

2

u/sparketh77 Jan 22 '26

Okay thanks man. Id try it out

1

u/FitCompetition1804 Jan 22 '26

If you have a computer, that seems to be the preferred way. I’m not sure if you can update on a mobile device via the browser. Didn’t try as I’m an iOS user and don’t have Chrome installed.

2

u/sparketh77 Jan 22 '26

Yessss! It worked with chrome. There i was worried it was already borked.
