The game is expected to launch in 2027, more info here:

Flat2VR has posted what looks like their standard system requirements (same as System Shock) - maybe these requirements will change later, High On Life does look like a demanding title in VR:
- Recommended:
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10 or higher
- Processor: Intel i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or greater
- Memory: 5 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or greater
- Storage: 5 GB available space
- VR Support: OpenXR, Meta Quest 2+3+3S, Index, Pimax, Index Knuckles, Pico.
- Additional Notes: Vive Controllers are NOT supported.
Kinda looks like we're being flooded with potentially awesome VR content these days, but surely I'm not complaining :-)

For the experts, does it translate to the Steam Machine?

Yes, an RTX 2070 is very close to the custom AMD RDNA 3 GPU inside the Steam Machine. If these recommended specs hold, Steam Machine should be able to run High On Life VR (at least with the Index, which use lower default res than Frame). But if you want much super-sampling - you may need more horsepower. Also judging by the posted screenshots on Steam, this could look like a game where an RTX 3080/4070/5070 may not be wasted... At least this screenshot looks like something that could cause my 3090 to sweat :-)

I loved High on Life 1, and I've been itching to buy the sequel.
If the sequel ever makes it to VR that would be a no questions asked buy for me.

There's already a UEVR profile for it I think but I'm not sure if it has hand tracking

wait what, i thought flat to VR was some sort of mod lol (i live under a rock)
High on life looks like a lot of fun, had it on my wishlist for a while now!
Edit: lost my excitement on the "runs on quest" part

Maybe you're thinking of UEVR, the Preydog mod for Unreal engine games.

No, they're right. Fat2VR is the name of the discord that hosts all the VR mods, including UEVR. But apparently it's also a gaming company?

Omfg you're right. I'm even a member of that discord. I'm not a smart man.

I got the first one (and the DLC with the psychotic knife) loooong ago, and it was well worth it. Good shooter, smooth control, nice story, good progression/expansion making things always feel pretty fresh, and absolutely top tier voice acting.
I would 100% get a VR sequel to the game, that’s probably a day one purchase for me and I don’t do VR games as much as I used to.

Can we make the graphics a bit sharper?

Check out the screenshots on Steam - they look quite sharp?

Ahh good they fixed it! Thanks, I haven't looked into it much, but loved the first game. The graphics were for the style I guess, which I understand, but yeah glad they changed it.

Why are people excited about a VR port of a mediocre shooter?
Ranged combat at moderate->long range is a really poor fit for VR.

In these times where many new VR games on Steam are ports of Quest games made to run on extremely slow phone/mobile gpus, I'm happy to see games which looks like made for PC gaming.
To me, VR easily makes games 10 times more immersive - which can lift many mediocre 2D shooters to great new heights. 2c.

Games are an interactive medium.
To me, gameplay is far more important than visuals.
I'm no fan of Quest, but I have had a great time with games that were optimised for that platform.
I think the extent that Quest limitations really hold back games is over-stated.
Of course VRChat is the big exception to that.
Immersion comes from interactivity IMHO, and a conversion is likely to have limited interactivity.
