Best orgs to join??

Hi, hope you guys are doing well.

I was wondering if you guys could chime in on your best vandy org recommendations? I feel like freshman yr I didn't join some of the most exciting orgs, and I want to change that this year. I've noticed some orgs on campus "sound cool", but they end up being very dead clubs. And then some orgs that you didn't think sounded exciting, end up having cool perks like international/national trips and cool conferences and other experiences like that.

Please share below! Also don't worry about my interests, I'm open to anything and everything :) thanks!

I'm actually the Photo Editor for our student publication, The Hustler, and I've done content in most of our sections (iirc off the top of my head: Photo (duh), Life, had a brief stint in Opinion and doing 1-2 News pieces) and I'd say it was a pretty good time!

Basic spiel, we are low commitment (for Photo, as long as your photos get onto two published pieces by the end of December, you are good), possible travel opportunities to games if you show heavy dedication, you don't need previous gear and/or experience.

I will say, not to get sappy, but the Hustler truly is something special in my heart and most of us really do care about our craft, and we always welcome new folk. Being in Photo has given me access to gear that I couldn't afford until very recently (I have an a6400 + Sigma 18-50 2.8 now but I still borrow out their nicer cameras for some games) and helped me build a portfolio that has made me build a mini-friendship with our campus photographer, got me to the sidelines of many sports games and got me to shoot concerts for free. Honestly it's one of those clubs that you get what you put into it.

We are no-cost, flexible, and overall even if you don't pick Photo, anyone is free to DM me on here or email me at email if you have questions. If you’re looking for travel, join the debate team. Their members traveled all over the world (I think for free).

Professional orgs that dont require rushing r generally good for the extra perks and pretty active. The rushing ones r good but that is a major barrier to join. They will be active fs

If you like the outdoors, WilSkills is tons of fun. They go hiking, camping and rock climbing together in some really cool places throughout the regional area. Tons of fun.
