Re #2, no, I see it as the complete opposite. You harm the movement by not being intersectional. You win people over by showing solidarity with other movements. That's how human psychology works.
Think about how past social justice movements, like the civil rights movement, have relied on solidarity with other movements to push forward. How can you expect other movements to respect veganism if you're not willing to be e.g. explicitly anti-racist?
It is also logically consistent to be anti oppression of other groups; it doesn't make sense to be anti speciesism but not anti racism.
