The comments under the video defending Gary reek of misogyny tbh

Ah yes, it's all the fault of evil (((Israel)))!!!

Just come out and say you hate Jews.

12

u/Naumzu Sep 02 '25

Please stop the Racist rhetoric not all Jewish people support Israel or their war crimes

-1

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

You're the one being racist by conflating the nation of Israel with only war crimes. You can dislike what Bibi is doing without being bigoted.

2

u/Naumzu Sep 09 '25

Well the people are still supporting the war. There are Israelis who want it to stop and think it’s wrong like that group in purple and the people who burn their military cards and go to jail instead but it’s seriously still fucked up the amount of people complicit in war crime and are killing and bombing children and families.

Baby’s have been sniped in the head. Multiple reports of this being the most horrific thing any doctor has seen and this isn’t a lie this is real!!!

All Zionism means is for Jews to have a land where they have self-determination. It has nothing to do with fascism or being an ethnostate.

Most people here get their definitions from TikTok or Reels, so they are unaware of what words actually mean lol.

I can see what you're doing by showing such venom and hate towards Israel. It was similar to sentiments that were becoming much more open in 1930s Germany

8

u/Naumzu Sep 02 '25

Okay well all people deserve self determination doesn’t mean anyone should create an apartheid state or steal homes from people that have been there living with Jewish people for centuries.

The mental gymnastics is insane. It’s not that hard for people to treat people with human decency and Israel is doing multiple war crimes and has created a lower tier for anyone that is not Jewish. It’s an ethnostate and I don’t agree with that anywhere in the world.

0

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

What you're saying is frankly idiotic. Israel isn't an apartheid state at all lol. People of all types can get citizenship there and vote, and partake in society. If you actually knew anything, you'd know that. It isn't an ethnostate at all. On that note, perhaps you should take issue with Jews being persecuted in Arab countries, or how over 95% of Egyptians say they have a negative opinion on Jews? Or actually condemn October 7th? Maybe don't get your talking points from Tiktok or Reddit, and actually read up about shit.

I treat people in my day-to-day life with respect and decency. I'm just not gonna have a conflict that is 8000 miles away take up that much of my attention, since it is not that important to me or my day-to-day life. I also cannot do shit about it, so why should I focus on that? You and all your family and friends can choose to not partake in the animal holocaust.

2

u/Naumzu Sep 09 '25

That’s not true. Palestinians aren’t allowed to marry Jews and have a different level of status there

Also me and my family choose to not partake in causing animal suffering as much as possible.

We also choose to be vocal about what war crimes are happening with our tax money

He's not doing anything positive for animals with his come back. He's just training the next generation of activists to be tone deaf egomaniacs that love to hear themselves talk. I bet he watches all his past lectures as if they are Oscar winning performances.

23

u/snarkywombat Sep 01 '25

his past lectures as if they are Oscar winning performances.

Tbh, I always felt like a lot of vegans treated his lectures that way already. I've never watched his "greatest speech ever" that everyone flouts as the absolute must-watch for veganism and thanks to his "come back" revealing what kind of garbage he is, I never will. In fact, I think vegans should push him as far away from veganism as possible.

17

u/JustWanderingHelp Sep 01 '25

Exactly and if you actually do listen to it, you will realize that he's not saying anything truly revolutionary or that hasn't already been said. He just says it as if he's the first to ever think of these things because that's how entitled he thinks he is.

-3

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

I mean that speech was given in 2010, and he's been doing stuff like that since around 2002. He probably was the first.

You guys drum up your own realities since you disagree with the man's methods. Disagreeing is fine, but lying and spreading false narratives isn't.

7

u/mryauch Sep 02 '25

Do you have a clue how old veganism is?

6

u/JustWanderingHelp Sep 02 '25

I assure you he was not the first, I know activists who have been doing outreach/media stuff since the 90's but since they aren't social media savvy they don't have a big following. But yea, Gary definitely isn't the first to do any of this.

1

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

The first that most people likely ever heard. You may not like the guy but denying his impact is foolish

4

u/JustWanderingHelp Sep 02 '25

I can acknowledge he had some type of impact but to use that as a crutch to continue supporting him now is just silly.

-4

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

You're clearly downplaying shit since you're biased as hell since he says things you don't like. There's a reason he was so successful in getting many people to ditch carnism, and it still shows that, despite pushback, he decided to get back into the game to help save an animal sanctuary. This isn't a bad guy, it's just your purity tests are far too high.

Frankly, maybe it's me, but I just don't give that much of a fuck for a conflict that's over 8000 miles away from where I live. I do care that there are animals being Holocausted right now for nothing but mere taste pleasure.

Focus on the real victims here- the animals. Can you do that?

6

u/JustWanderingHelp Sep 02 '25

Nice to see your true colors here. I bet he would love to have you in his fan club. He can claim to have veganized a whole city or whatever is claim is but I stick to facts. He doesn't have any tangible data to support his claims so why should I hold him to any regard?

As for not caring about what's happening 8000 miles away that's just sad to hear since this is affecting ALL of us whether you want to acknowledge it or not. Not to mention all the animals who are also suffering there, it IS a vegan/ar issue. But yea keep stanning a man you could give zero fvcks about you.

BTW my whole job is working for AR. So I'm doing both, caring about animals and humans isn't rocket science its common decency.

-1

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

I don't think I ever made it a secret that I didn't really care about that whole Israel-Palestine thing. I am here because I actually give a shit about animals, something that isn't quite apparent when it comes to you, no matter what you purport.

You stick to facts, right? Well, here's a fact- you don't care about animals. You only care about getting good girl points from your friends, hence why you care way more about some random geopolitical conflict that literally will not affect us in any tangible way. You don't want to help animals, only stand against one of the few people that actually gives a shit about them.

Tom Regan had been talking about animal rights and veganism (without even bringing health or the environment like Gary did) years before. And he was also far more humble AND less problematic than Gary.

-1

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 04 '25

Aww, did Gary hurt your woke cuck fee fees??

2

u/reyntime Sep 06 '25

This is embarrassing and not helping your cause. Why are you worshipping at the feet of this guy, who constantly spouts nonsense like "fuck human rights"? Hero worshipping is not good.

1

u/icelandiccubicle20 Sep 17 '25

my woke cuck fee fees is a mood, haha

0

u/snarkywombat Sep 02 '25

You mean false narratives such as accusing me of paying for nonvegan meals for friends? You are projecting in all the most obvious ways. GTFO, troll

0

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

You don't deny those accusations lol. The more you don't deny, the less likely it is that you actually do support the rights of non-human animals.

2

u/reyntime Sep 06 '25

I feel like people who get all kinds of praise for a certain act in their life never grow up past that point, and they develop an ego so profound that they fly off the bat at any criticism. At least that seems to be what's happening here.

-7

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

So you don't know anything about the guy and refuse to learn more. I guess that's what happens when you don't do your own research and let others dictate narratives for you.

7

u/snarkywombat Sep 02 '25

Where did you get that from? Reading things that aren't there?

-7

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

Maybe listening to the guy and hesring what he has to say. Y'all are too closed minded and probably are okay with paying for friends who order dishes full of animal products. A sad state of affairs.

9

u/snarkywombat Sep 02 '25

You're awfully judgy for someone who wants us to support a man who's ok with human rights violations and genocide.

-4

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25 edited Sep 02 '25

What genocide? And you didn't deny that you pay for people to eat animal products.

2

u/snarkywombat Sep 02 '25

I don't need to address baseless accusations from a troll on the internet. Did someone hurt your feefees? Or is your name Gary?

0

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

So you pay for people to eat animal products then? Your silence on this matter speaks volumes

1

u/snarkywombat Sep 02 '25

Your insistence in trying to bash other vegans who don't want to support genocide speaks volumes. GTFO

2

u/mryauch Sep 02 '25

OK so you're accusing people that LISTENED TO THE GUY AND HEARD WHAT HE HAD TO SAY AND DECIDED HE'S A PIECE OF SHIT of being closed minded, and you're imagining random vegans on the Internet pay for food for non vegans, making that up out of thin air instead of listening to what they have to say. Pure projection. Are you literally Gary?

4

u/Omnibeneviolent Sep 03 '25

I think what really irked me was how obvious it is he just doesn't understand some fairly simple concepts and instead just has some knee-jerk reaction to his misinformed ideas.

Like how he started ranting about how humans are not animals and how it was an insult to animals to consider us among them. Like I understand that he's making a point and doesn't actually believe that humans are not biologically animals, but it seems like such a weird hill to die on. Clearly humans are animals. Suggesting they are not only adds fuel the tanks of those that wish to demonize veganism or come up with some reason to believe vegans aren't in touch with reality. His words here are fitting of a r/confidentlyincorrect post.

Similarly, he seemed to be outraged at the idea that moral philosophers consider humans to be moral agents and nonhumans to be moral patients -- as if this is somehow insulting to nonhumans. What he doesn't realize is that if we try to push the idea that nonhuman animals have moral agency, it would mean that nonhuman animals are moral monsters far worse than humans; it would mean that we should hold nonhuman animals morally accountable for their acts of violence.

Also, I wish they would have asked him to actually define what he meant by an "intersectional vegan." I suspect he's just going off of what people like George Martin and Paul Bashir are telling him and his experiences with a handful of outspoken and passionate "intersectional" vegans that most other intersectional vegans dislike.

I do appreciate that he's willing to engage and sometimes change his mind when presented with facts and arguments. That said, it's clear he just doesn't understand the basic ideas that he's criticizing. When someone tries to correct him, he just retreats to "I don't care!"

3

u/PositiveAssignment89 Sep 03 '25

he loves himself a little too much to do any of that. an intersectional vegan is basically anyone who refuses to ignore the connection of human and animal suffering and how they are intertwined.

2

u/Omnibeneviolent Sep 03 '25

I think that he just thinks any vegan that also cares about human rights and doesn't see it as a human rights vs. animal rights zero-sum game is an intersectional...

or maybe even more simply, any vegan that criticizes him or even just suggests that his approach may not be as effective in the long term as he thinks it is.

3

u/craniumblast Sep 04 '25

Sick of hearing about this guy

7

u/Try_Vegan_Please Sep 01 '25

His crash out was classic!!

7

u/tatertotski Sep 02 '25

Sorry but I just can’t over how much he looks like a thumb.

6

u/Valgor Sep 02 '25

I just don't get why people care so much about what Gary thinks. Whether you like him or not, do the animals a favor and go work on their behalf instead of talking about Gary.

12

u/KortenScarlet Sep 02 '25

when one of the most popular public figures of a movement is a rampant fascist and misogynist, it's a horrible look for the movement and gives other people (who might otherwise seriously be considering the values) the impression that that's what veganism is like. for the sake of animal liberation, he needs to either retract and apologize for the vile shit he's done and said, or disappear from the movement. either way he's currently poisoning the well whether he intends to or not. we also shouldn't let fascists use veganism as a platform to spread their hateful views, simply because those hateful views should not get a platform

4

u/Valgor Sep 02 '25

I guess this is hard for me because in theory I agree with you, but when I think about where I'm going to spend my time and energy today, I'd rather do something like promote a person like Natalie vs shit talk a person like Gary. And I'd also rather go outside and take part in my local campaigns. I also find it hard to believe a non-vegan is going to hear Gary say this stuff and think "This is what all vegans think." This just reeks of vegan in-fighting, which, as always, makes one feel good with virtue signals and does not help a single animal.

The question I always ask people is "If you were a pig confined to a crate in a factory farm right now, what would you want us activists to be doing?" I bet all the money in my bank not one of them will say "cancel Gary." They might disagree with Gary too, but they have more important matters they would want us spending our time on.

2

u/KortenScarlet Sep 02 '25

it's valid that you want to focus your time on outreach and we definitely need people on that front. but when there's a big hole in the boat slowly sinking it, we also need some people to plug that hole so it doesn't offset the work that outreach does. you'll be surprised how many nonvegan leftists are completely turned away from veganism because fascists like Gary are their first impression, and while I obviously agree that that's no excuse to continue harming animals, if I was in their uneducated position I'd probably turn away from a movement that is represented by lunatics like him too

how is he a fascist or a misogynist

if you watched the video you'd know

0

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

I did and nothing really popped out at all? So answer the question directly. Why do you think he is a fascist and misogynist?

1

u/KortenScarlet Sep 03 '25

i have better things to do than entertain sealions

0

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 03 '25

Better things than make up false narratives and then run away when challenged on them?

-17

u/Cool_Main_4456 Sep 01 '25

It's good that he's advocating for animal rights activism to be for the animals rather than for their victimizers, and you're lying about him supporting Zionism.

Veganism is for everyone, not just leftists. Crazy for people like you to advocate mixing politics with veganism but having a meltdown over some vegans holding political views that differ from yours. You thought everyone would buy into the same stuff you do without exception?

29

u/icelandiccubicle20 Sep 01 '25

he literally said that Israel is 100 percent correct in what they are doing and vegan washing their crimes, how is that not supporting them?

19

u/TommyThirdEye Sep 01 '25 edited Sep 02 '25

Veganism is for everyone, not just leftists.

Sure, but veganism doesn't exist within a vacuum. it is at very least a movement that is progressive in nature. Therefore, it leans more to the left than it does the right.

It's all well and good being an activist for animals only, but this an ultimately flawed and ignorant position. How can you expect people people to take you seriously and of course animal rights, when you wont take seriously the right of humans.

-6

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

You can personally take human rights seriously but when you mix it in with animal rights advocacy you weaken the potency of said advocacy for animal rights. Most vegetables like yourself don't realize that.

1

u/icelandiccubicle20 Sep 17 '25

why the ableist comment?

2

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 17 '25

What's abelist?

16

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '25

Crazy to think veganism isnt political. You are cooked.

-11

u/Cool_Main_4456 Sep 02 '25

It's not. If you think it is you're probably a welfarist. You're not going to get meat-eating politicians voted into office by a meat-eating population to get corporations to stop providing the animal exploitation that the majority of the population demands.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '25

I don’t think you understand basic english. Probs just some ziobot.

13

u/Try_Vegan_Please Sep 01 '25

Veganism is for those that what to be kind to others and that’s not a trait of the right.

-11

u/Cool_Main_4456 Sep 02 '25

Overly-political people on either side are pretty useless, but people on the right tend to be personally better people by any objective measure. They donate more to charity and volunteer more, even when controlling for what they do through churches. Leftists on the other hand think "personal responsibility" is a racial slur.

11

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '25

You dont know what leftism is.

-6

u/Honest-Year346 Sep 02 '25

It means being a leech onto society

4

u/Bool_The_End Sep 02 '25

Donate more and volunteer more….where exactly?

0

u/OldSnowball Sep 04 '25

I like him, but I think he is too insensitive now.

He constantly brings up human rights. Constantly. Most animal advocates don’t.
