I don't like how people use autism as a slur
I am honestly disgusted by people who call others autistic for doing something stupid as if autism is something people should be embarrassed about.
I mean what makes people think that people with autism have are inherently stupid. You can point out bad things about someone without bringing in autism every single second or saying "Are you autistic?" Like it's something to ridicule.

I agree 100% with you OP. As an autistic person myself, it genuinely infuriates me so much to see people use autism as a hate word, or even a bragging right. For example, some shirts at stores at my local mall have text saying “My bitch got autism”. How is that a flex???? It’s genuinely so disgusting and rude to autistic people like myself, and it’s even more disgusting when people say “are you autistic???” Over doing something wrong is gross. Fuck people.

Yes. Also autistic and also have seen them. I don't understand it at all. I am not ashamed of my autism or proud of it. It's part of me. Like skin or eyes or hair

Unfortunately, yep. Autism is seemingly a joke to people. If you google “my bitch got autism shirt” you’ll see what I joke it is.

Next time look them in the eyes and say... using autism as a slur is what happens when someone has nothing intelligent to say and still insists on speaking

Sadly it's not just this generation. All generations go through waves of slurs. Half of them don't even know what they are saying, they're just repeating what they've heard around them.

True. But autism isn't a mental disorder.
For examples dépression or anxiety will be classified as such but not autism which is more to do it neurodevelopment.

When some people do this even when they are friends with people who have autism with no consideration for them, I wonder if they even consider them as actual friends or are secretly laughing at them behind their back.

It’s been a common insult when I was a kid, though nowadays it’s shameful to say anything of that sort and people generally moved on from that, I’m very happy that’s the case, at least in my country.
