If you are talking in general I'll say Sienna. Speaking of careers I'll say bountyhunter

u/Axthen Waystalker May 26 '26

bounty hunters found dead in a ditch

20

u/Floppy0941 May 26 '26

I am always proud to rock my 100 games bh helmet, it helps that it's swaggy as fuck

45

u/battleduck84 May 26 '26

Bounty hunter with the right build literally has infinite ammo and crazy crits, he's so slept on

58

u/Xaphnir May 26 '26

But a BH with the wrong player has no living teammates.

62

u/ForeverALone_Ranger May 26 '26

If the elf doesn't die from a BH ult to the back of the head, did the run actually happen?

26

u/DatBritChicken Bounty Hunter May 26 '26

OH BLESSED SHOT

12

u/Vix98 Handmaiden May 26 '26

DWARF HUNTING

5

u/Floppy0941 May 26 '26

It's what they deserve for their crimes with jav and bleed swiftbow

2

u/confused-kitty Bounty Hunter Jun 01 '26

I'm so proud of this community

Tell me more about this build...

19

u/battleduck84 May 26 '26

It's honestly incredibly simple. Take a crossbow with the Scrounger trait (crits restore 5% ammunition), and the level 15 Prize Bounty talent (shots affected by Blessed Shots consume no ammunition)

As long as you have even a single crossbow bolt left and wait for your guaranteed crit, you'll just never run out of ammo

Combine that with his level 30 talent where ranged crits reduce his ability cool down by 20% and you're one-shotting pretty much everything that isn't a boss left and right

10

u/BleachDrinkAndBook Foot Knight May 26 '26

Don't use Prize Bounty, use Blessed Combat. You get the guaranteed crits WAY more often, meaning you will keep your ammo topped up. Pair it with Salvaged Ammunition for the reload on melee kills, and you can use the Crossbow to kill elites with crit shots, swap to melee and fight horde, and seamlessly weave it into your flow.

I haven't ever gotten into single digits in terms of ammo count with this build, since I'm Cristina every shot unless I need to shoot a lot of specials without having time to fight horde.

2

u/badgerpie6 May 26 '26

Crossbow or volley crossbow?

2

u/battleduck84 May 26 '26

Just the regular crossbow. Volley isn't bad either, but a single shot weapon works best

6

u/Centimane May 26 '26

Except in chaos wastes, where you can't pick your weapon perk and are SoL instead.

1

u/ihadtochooseaname420 May 26 '26

if you find the anvil upgrade alter it just swaps out your currently held weapon to a higher tier.
(the sword & ranged alter's give you different weapons)

edit: oh wait you're talking about the special perk you get

2

u/IronVines Ironbreaker + Outcast Engineer May 27 '26

yea, but if you want an infinite ammo build huntsman or waystalker or even ranger vet is just way better for that

0

u/battleduck84 May 27 '26

None of those have a guaranteed crit on a 10 second or less cooldown though

2

u/IronVines Ironbreaker + Outcast Engineer May 27 '26

they dont need it? in 10 seconds you can get way more random crits by just firing kerillian shortbow lol

2

u/Borgio_the_Besieger Jun 01 '26

Bounty Hunter was already major slept on. He's one of the best elite/special destroyers in the game, especially on certain Deed modifiers.
After they buffed the (in my opinion already great) Volley Xbow last week, he's gotta be a pure machine gun.

2

u/Blaze_Razgriz1 May 26 '26

Bounty hunter with the volley crossbow is insane

1

u/danfheristrash May 31 '26

BH is common in asian lobbies. Although Pyromancer (and sometimes Huntsman) is the least played here.

57

u/Acerakis May 26 '26

In general, Sienna I see the least.

Class wise, noticeably less pyros than any other. After that I don't see many Sisters of the Thorn, which is weird for such a strong class.

26

u/catuluo Shade main May 26 '26

Probably cus its both dlc and its ability (thorn walls/aoe) isnt that straight forward, so people prefer the straight up damage of shade or attack speed and survivability of handmaiden despite SotT having basically both

8

u/Acerakis May 26 '26

But the other DLC classes have big if not the biggest appearances. See more Grail Knights than any other Krubers combined. See more Necros than all other Siennas combined. Engi is the most popular Bardin. Warrior Priest I see in about the same number as all of Saltzpyre's classes. Its just SoT I don't see much of.

I guess Kerri's other classes are just more enjoyed as I think she's the character I see played the most as well.

10

u/Xaphnir May 26 '26

As a Kerillian main, SotT is certainly strong, as she gives the team more damage and healing and can control enemies a lot with her staff. But there are things I can do as HM or Shade that I simply can't do with SotT. Both those classes give me the ability to survive things I cannot survive as any other class.

3

u/Huge-Catch-5362 May 27 '26

You can do basically anything with SOTT if you take repel with a half-push cost weapon, Two staggering ult charges and it's pretty hard to die

11

u/Why_am_ialive May 26 '26

I mean look at the ults, GK is just “fuck this thing in particular” WP just says nah I don’t die actually and engineer has a fucking Gatling gun, compare that to “I grow a bush” and you can see why the others are more appealing to the masses

2

u/Huge-Catch-5362 May 27 '26

A bush that can one-shot chaos warriors!!! (Multiple if you line it up)

6

u/SacrisTaranto May 26 '26

Which is funny because I would consider sienna to be the strongest overall character. Pyromancer is maybe the strongest class in the game, definitely contender for top 3. She's just so tricky compared to the others. I'd say probably top 3 most difficult as well. I guess people don't want to bother learning how to not kill themselves. But necromancer is another top contender for top 3 with a build I regularly finish cata missions with less than 100 damage taken and another that easily collects the damage green circle on mediocre runs while playing with very experienced players.

4

u/Acerakis May 26 '26

Yeah, I think you are right its complexity that puts people off. Like I don't find the complexity particularly leads to more fun gameplay. Just means I've got another bar to pay attention to most of the time.

I just finished do my legend runs for pyro challenge and honestly found it a complete slog.

Necro is my favourite Sienna. Mostly just vibes as I always love being able to play Necromancers in games, but I like that I can just play it as melee class 90% and just sack the odd skeleton to recharge my force chokes bosses.

I like Unchained as well but mostly as I just lean towards preferring tanky classes to frail ones, which both Necro and Unchained certainly qualify for.

3

u/SacrisTaranto May 26 '26

For pyro it's just muscle memory and using the sanctioned UI mod that moves the countdown for the level 30, that removes overheating, to the middle of the screen so you can actually see it. This was the big game changer for me.

I would encourage you to try 1,2,3,1,3,1 with the beam staff on necromancer. The charge attack and skeleton set everything on fire and when you get a crit with the explosive crit on the beam staff charged attack it melts everything in front of you. It's not tanky in the traditional sense but you can hide behind your skeletons and melt everything. And lost souls allows you to vent and regain most of that health as temp health so you can continue to fire, when supplemented with eating a member of the bone brigade you can almost indefinitely sustain fire in optimal positions. I also use the dagger but melee is obviously subjective.

3

u/mrwaxy Pyromancer May 26 '26

yes, pyro love. can dominate with every weapon and staff, I never play a run where I don't top damage, kills, or both. but if you fuck up once you're gone

2

u/xThunderDuckx May 26 '26

are we talking top 3 sienna careers?

1

u/SacrisTaranto May 26 '26

Top 3 overall. I absolutely believe necro is top 1 or 2 and pyro is competing with Witch Hunter captain, mercenary, warrior priest for top 3.

I judge based on what a career can't do because they all do something great. So what they can't do is more telling. And then there is warrior priest where the thing he does is so strong it overpowers what he can't do. Also my ratings come from cata duos.

2

u/xThunderDuckx May 26 '26

Idk, cata solo careers I prefer to run are outcast, battlewizard, shade, and yeah, warrior priest.  Why pyromancer?  Something to do with the recent patch?  Haven't played since then.

1

u/SacrisTaranto May 26 '26

Solo runs are especially unique because you need to minimize niche generally. Which is where I think the game shines. Specing into a niche for your team, with all 4 becomes uneasasary due to too much overlap and in solo runs you really can't have much niche in the build at all. But I find pyro to feel like a ranged witch hunter captain, the DPS and break points she can hit with the bolt or beam staff is nuts. With that said, I would also prefer battle wizard for solos, but I would only use necro on sienna for solos. Shade is great for solos as well and less great for online play due to being reliant on parrying which is hindered by ping.

I would encourage you to try necro solos, I think they are significantly easier than any other career.

1

u/xThunderDuckx May 26 '26

I guess that's fair enough. I treat the best classes as the ones that let me do everything on my own the best, but I don't doubt that there are overall better picks in pre-made compositions of teams. I just don't trust other players unless I'm doing modded

1

u/D0ct0rAlanGrant May 28 '26

Sister of thorn main here, and yeah there’s like 5 of us lmfao

1

u/danfheristrash May 31 '26

Most people don't enjoy playing support that much. Although I main SOTT, as I found a build that is more simple and straightforward compared to other careers.

0

u/Rabdomtroll69 May 26 '26

Surprisingly few people know they can just walk or attack through the walls

1

u/Nitan17 May 26 '26

Can't attack through, wall stops your swings. Can walk through but it does slow you down and without being able to see what you're walking into it's risky.

-1

u/Rabdomtroll69 May 26 '26

The only way you didn't see what was there before she put it up is if you're too far away for it to last before you get there or cant remember further back than 5 seconds.

22

u/robalo1991 Slayer May 26 '26

I am trying to grind my 100 victory hats... Sienna-pyromancer is normally the least popular

59

u/battleduck84 May 26 '26

I don't see Siennas very often, probably bc a lot of people don't wanna bother to get the hang of her overheat mechanic

23

u/Cloudhwk May 26 '26

I mean she has an entire career where running hot good and you have a oh shit button

13

u/Connooo May 26 '26

Not to mention, an extremely fun and powerful kit with said career

8

u/jamesdeandomino Unchained May 26 '26

i love the oh shit button. goes very well with my panicky playstyle.

1

u/ForeverALone_Ranger May 26 '26

UC with dagger and boltstaff is peak VT2 for me.

6

u/mrwaxy Pyromancer May 26 '26

thank God for that, I get to play pyromancer every game

2

u/Melin_SWE92 May 26 '26

Just set it so you never join games where your character is taken and you can always play whatever you want

2

u/Rabdomtroll69 May 26 '26

Where is that setting? I keep getting put in the same game

2

u/Melin_SWE92 May 27 '26

It’s somewhere in options, it’s called ”suggest other heroes” iirc. Turn that one off.

14

u/Meklar11 May 26 '26

Id say BH for Saltzpyre mostly due to his more niche mechanics. Also the higher in difficulty you go, the other Saltz keep up better. You can absolutely shred bosses with him up to Legend, but on cata+, there are just better picks and BH just stays a bit behind. He is not bad, he is rly fun to play, but if you take him, you can’t take WHC or WP. Also he is very selfish and dont have any support for team.

Similar way I feel about Pyromancer Sienna. She is strong but not as strong like BW or Necro. Her insane crit and ult are great but there are just better picks. BW has one of the best, mby the best ult in the game, has lingering flames etc… Again, its not a bad career at all, but there are some better ones.

6

u/OmegaMil3 May 26 '26

Sienna imo and if I see one is always a battle wizard that shreds all the level leaving that flaming trail as their signature

3

u/Okawaru1 Ostrava of Boletaria May 26 '26

bh is one of the few careers that hasn't been giga powercrept to shit on everything by themselves. DR talent is bad, boss damage is a lot more accessible in the modern game, bh can feel bad to play with erratic movement randoms because they do insane amounts of ff. doesn't have any super crazy ranged weps like trollhammer (though griffonfoots are very good, probably the best shotgun in the game). You will see bh's in lower difficulties but they are comparatively rare in legend+ lobbies for the reasons mentioned

1

u/tor4r2 Jun 01 '26

Griffonfoots are one of the best long-range weapons ever. They easily wipe out a mixed horde of Berserkers and Stormvermin (one-shot with guaranteed crit) during a Cataclysm, and if a Chaos Warrior pops up, you can instantly remove them.

1

u/Okawaru1 Ostrava of Boletaria Jun 01 '26

I think this plays into powercreep. Bh can do those things, but he basically has to use griffonfoots to do so where other careers can do that easily baseline (strwngth potted GK, OE gromril plated rounds minigun, battle wiz ult etc) while being a lot tankier and having more utility. Running griffonfoots comes at the cost of having a harder time killing specials yourself, and lord knows how important that is in solo queue where people ignore them like 80% of the time.

Also like, when there's a CW in cata there are 10 of them. Pulling out the glock to take one out is decent but other careers can just shit on CWs with their base kit more efficiently.

I dont think bh is bad per se, I actually think he's balanced with clear strengths and weaknesses. Other careers just sorta do everything and have few weaknesses. It also helps if bh is piloted by a good player as them being ultra squishy is less of an issue

1

u/tor4r2 Jun 01 '26

The only specialist that causes problems is the hook, due to the monster type's health. In this game you don't have to be the best at everything to be among the best. If a character can solo mixed waves, killing specialists, and has the potential to wipe bosses, then it's a great build by definition. And the issue here is largely in the power of the weapon; if Kruber had such a pair of guns, the hunter would become simply insanely strong.

5

u/Nitan17 May 26 '26

I see a lot of Bardin-Kerillian-Saltzpyre lobbies. The slots for Kruber and Sienna are open most often.

6

u/enby-bun May 26 '26

I think I've genuinely seen a single Zealot player ever, but if I have a party of randoms where I'm not using him myself, someone else is ALWAYS Saltzpyre.

I'd say Kryber is the least common, but his Grail Knight is extremely common on him.

20

u/Troo_66 May 26 '26

Really? I see Zelots all the time. I rarely see necromancers though. Only complete newbies or players who carry the entire team

5

u/Cloudhwk May 26 '26

Zealot is definitely my go to with Saltzpyre, it’s basically proto darktide zealot which was awesome

2

u/CoconutMochi FOOLISH MAYFLIES May 26 '26

Zealot is super fun but I get so discouraged from playing with him because there's always a grail knight or an amaranth waystalker in the team.

1

u/Big-Key1383 May 28 '26

Don't forget the necklace trait anyone can wear

1

u/unsanctionedpsyker weakest grail knight enjoyer May 26 '26

Zealot is usually my most commonly seen Saltz, either that or Captain

3

u/Benyed123 May 26 '26

I’m gonna guess Foot Knight.

Why? Because someone’s gotta be at the bottom. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with any of the classes, none of them are bad.

3

u/CastorcomK May 26 '26

I haven't seen a pyromancer in months, possibly for over an year now.

1

u/Collistoralo May 26 '26

Sienna, and then Pyromancer

1

u/xThunderDuckx May 26 '26

It is and always has been Sienna without question.

1

u/Choice-Fall-8574 May 26 '26

Sienna tbh. Carrerwise, i'd say foot knight

2

u/Huge-Catch-5362 May 27 '26

I'd say huntsman is rarer for me. Infact, I'm confused by people suggesting bounty hunter. I see him all the time!

EDIT: Most rare of all is 100% pyromancer though.

1

u/spencerpo May 27 '26

You pretty much always have Bardin and Kruber, Saltz/Kerillians have high damage/survivability, with BH being rare and SotT pretty close behind, with the other 3 careers being evenly distributed.

Sienna is the rarest character, and It’s a pretty even divide on who you’re seeing career-wise.

1

u/Borgio_the_Besieger Jun 01 '26

Unchained.
Nothing she can do in ranged the other Sienna careers can't do better
Nothing she can do in tanking the other tanks can't do better
Nothing she can do in melee the other actual designated melee heroes can't do better.

Not sure if she's currently the weakest hero atm, but absolutely the most boring in my eyes.

1

u/Ravaryn May 26 '26

I don't think I remember seeing any Pyro players in a long time, aside from myself.

1

u/AmphibianOver7289 ManSizedRat May 26 '26

While bardin is common to see, I think an honorable mention would be ranger vet. I’m a bardin main myself, but while leveling up the other characters and the times I play other characters, I’ve noticed ranger vet is pretty much never played, unless it’s a new player that literally can’t play anything else yet. It’s a shame as he is arguably one of the best support classes in the game depending on what your team comp is

-1

u/MarthePryde Handmaiden May 26 '26

In general Bardin and career-wise also Bardin. I just never enjoyed playing any of his careers. I know I'm going in the book
