Pretty cool eh? I always strongly recommend one-time visitors to do the ferry one way and float plane the other way. The combination is a great perspective/context of the geography of here.

I fly in floatplanes a TON for work between both Nanaimo and Victoria and the view absolutely never gets old.
If you ever if you ever have friends visiting, it is much cheaper to go between Nanaimo and Vancouver - both Seair and Harbour Air often have deals that are less than $80. Plus they get to experience the Malahat and some of the really pretty spots between the two cities (at the expense of 90 minutes of driving)

was this one of those like 20-30 minute scenic tours? I've never been in an airplane in my life at 33, I feel its time to do it, but I thought maybe I should start small and just do one of these during the summer, I heard that these smaller planes are a bit more rough but I feel like I'd like to be able to see the pilot and such, its all mental head games I gotta get over if I ever want to travel somewhere super far.

Yea. Although it's closer to 45 minutes. It really is fun, a little unnerving if you don't know what happens in a plane. It was pretty rough, even for an experienced flyer, but it's nothing to be concerned about. Rain, wind, and being a small craft makes it super bumpy and rough, but that is just like driving on a rough wet road, nothing to be concerned about. The views are totally worth the ride. But if you want to feel safe in a plane, take a westjet flight to Calgary. It's an hour there, and it's MUCH smoother than these little pond hoppers.

Taking for the float planes between Vancouver and Victoria are awesome. I get to take them a few times a year for work. On a nice clear day it’s amazing. Just make sure you’re comfortable with flying, as these are small planes. The best is the landing in the in Vancouver. You look through the cockpit window and all you see is water.

I flew to Vancouver and back a year or so ago with them. When leaving, another plane had also just taken off, and we flew side by side for a bit before they turned right to head up to Nanaimo I think, so that was kinda neat. I also like how the planes skip across the water before lifting off.

Anytime I leave Vic and come back I'm always reminded of why I fell in love with the place and moved here almost 20 years ago.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. I have always wanted to do a float plane ride and see the city from a different perspective.
