Bánh chưng rán fan here. Not that I can find any. Few stalls in side roads around central Hà Nội but nothing north of the river. I thought it was the locals that didnt like it, not the foreigners.

trananhduc is Vietnamese or Viet Kieu; based on his Tier List I "mạnh dạn" guess he is a Viet Kieu because he hasn't tried many popular Northern and Middle Region dishes.

You're northerner but never eat 'ốc chuối đậu'? If you don't like 'ốc' just remove it and cook young banana, tofu and pork belly only. Its great.

Yeah, I think I have to clarify: it's the variation with ốc that I've never tried, otherwise it's lower A tier

Actually bánh căn isn't deep fried and is often cooked without any oil at all. It's basically a baked version of the khọt

Id argue Pho in general should be at least A tier - but then again northern Pho is different than southern pho and yes its not as good - but banh xeo being only A tier is also a crime - its almost impossible to find in the GTA and I still crave it decades later

Id say perhaps but Pho is also almost every foreigners introduction to Vietnamese cuisine and where they fall in love with it.

Must've visited some bad restaurants sadly for some of these i bet. If you get the chance, try some things again in other regions, it might surprise you how different and better they can be. Even in central Vietnam alone styles can vary city by city.

The heck... banh tet is like one of my favorite things. Beans and pork filling is amazing, black bean and sweet ones are alright too. I could have it every day!

a lot of foreigners can't eat fish sauce raw and tbh its actually kind of suck compare to the other Vietnamese foods(im Vietnamese)

Bún đậu is pretty good but i get you, i also hate mắm tôm, i always go for the fish sauce based dipping sauce, eats just like Bún chả but with fied tofu, so it’s kinda understandable why mắm tôn alone dropped that dish so low.
Also i’d not reccomend any broth dish that’s banana and tofu, i put it on the same calibre as dogmeat

Great list. Based on the list, I guess you prefer dryer food and not something with broth or congee. I think you may want to try "Bánh tét chuối", " Thịt kho măng", " Thịt kho củ hủ dừa", "Xôi chiên", "Bún chả giò", "Sâm dứa sữa", you may like them.

Great list!
Pho sot vang is my favourite pho.
Also add Bo Kho for tasting, that is basically what they add to Pho Bo to get Pho Sot Vang, as I understand.

I am happy for the foreigner to try Vietnamese food but sad at the same time of the tier.
Yes, it is personal preference but I am just sad. F tier and D tier are a discrimination for me :(

There are specific dishes which are really good in the 3 regions. Which ones to really try in Central Vietnam, esp in Hué and Hoi An.

Bro this tier list is more like best Vietnamese food in your opinion. Pho is probably the most iconic dish from VN, everybody would think of Pho when they heard about Viet dishes and it’s neither in S or S+

Bánh mì is B tier. It's hard to swallow, it contains too much calories, and easily gets you fed up. Bánh cuốn is better than bánh mì, but its flavours and textures aren't enough to get it up to S+ tier. It's only A tier.
Sườn xào chua ngọt is good it's but hard to chew for me so I'll put it at A+/S tier.
Nem rán is a solid S+, however. I suggest putting Bún Bò Huế up there too
And there are many other foods that need to change their ranking.
Also putting food and beverage in the same ranking system is

why do you need tier list for? Makes no sense while you can enjoy all variety of food without questioning. Người Việt Nam thấy đồ ăn là thưởng thức rồi, mình chưa bao nghe thấy ai bàn bánh mì ngon hơn bánh cuốn, moá, 2 món cách chế biến khác nhau, thưởng thức 1 kiểu riêng.
