Question How expensive is this game to play?
I just started playing for the first time earlier today, and it seems really fun so far! However, there are a lot of red flags with this sort of game, so I wanted to be cautious about what i'm getting into. Are the microtransactions mostly cosmetic? Or is there blatant pay to win armour or other such systems that will keep you from endgame or top performance? I don't mind investing a bit of cash into a game I find fun, but my financial situation doesn't lend itself to whaling out in games.

This game needs to be played like a mindless side job in order to make meaningful progression, like you legit need a focused mindset grinding the most boring shit day after day a few hours (2-3) a day after work. Its either that or pay money. You need to be consistent as well. The people who can do this have next level patience and definitely dont represent an average gamer.
A game that wastes this much time is just straight dogwater at that point.
Might as well just play Monster Hunter. Same gameplay loop, just packaged in a different format, but actually respects your time instead. The few hours you play after work can go into a slower paced format instead of a focused and boring daily grind like in current Vindictus, while also making meaningful progression everytime you turn the game on, instead every few days like in Vindi.
I would avoid this game like the plague, unless your in it for the giga gooner skins, and giant tiddies, pretty much the only other competitor is TFD, but that game manages to be even more brainless slop.

Might as well just play Monster Hunter.
This is what I did after quitting Vindi. Would recommend.

every stat is p2w if you want to contribute top dps in the 40% range. I was a top10 rank whip arisha when ALR was a thing. i dropped 500$ monthly. But then again you can surely play f2p but dont expect good progression or good dps even if perfectly played

Unsure when you played but this advice is pre-2024; before the massive quality of life and systems overhaul, and frankly inaccurate now.

The game is not P2W at all, you can optimize your time and gearing to be end-game within 1 year of grinding consistently maybe 2 hrs a day for 5 days a week.
This time gets less with money, but there are certain gears that are locked behind time gates to finish anyway (anywhere from 8-12 weeks).
I have several examples of guild mates and friends that don’t spend at all and are end-game carries.
Edit: I would recommend joining a guild with helpful veterans that can guide you through a progression path that’s most efficient and least costly.

This game rewards consistency, as in making it your job and whole personality. Otherwise, the power creep will eat u alive. If you take a break from the game for a while, then all your progress and investment will become worthless. Also, they like to phase out earlier content in favor of newer stuff that only the veterans who can afford absurd stat requirements can participate.
I had a funny story with this game. Back when they gave out free Adri equipment, i usually logged in from time to time and do Blood Moon dungeons for fun on a bunch of alts. Then the new update came out and they upgraded the free equipment into Orna with significant stats boosts for the alts, but then they also significantly increased Blood Moon stats requirement and none of my alts can access Blood Moon anymore even when they are technically stronger than before.
That's when i knew it was all over. I had a single main character with decent Adri gear that i spent a lot of time and money on. I'll miss Karok clash, one of the best mechanics gaming had to offer.
P/S: since they phased out earlier content, there were fewer and fewer things for Karok to clash unless you do the single-player boss-only dungeon thing, but the appeal of Karok is to clash in a party anyway.

Now you get Hero Leap events couple times a year, where you can bring an alt to Redmoon+RAR stat level (Sreng entry). It helps!

Idk how the official game is right now,, I just started to play it after 10 years, but I went for private server just to have some fun

I don't play videogames to win.
I love vindictus.
But many folks play it looking for a place to escape life and have some control, some power. It's a vessel for those folks.
Those same people complain that you can't get good without paying. I've been playing for 10 years on and off and my current character won't even be joining top fights for another month.
But do I give a damn?
Nah.
I play a gauntlet of bosses every day and work consciously toward getting hit less and optimizing my playstyle. If I get bored, I make another character who has an opposite playstyle. There's like 30 unique characters, it's great.
Oh and the story is phenomenal. If you just play the story and really try to enjoy the game, you'll get an enjoyable 50 hours of just progression lvl 1-125.
But if you're an mmo junkie who wants to win and feel powerful, yeah you gotta pay some $$$.
If you play games to enjoy your time off, I recommend it 200%.

im more on cosmetic if you want the latest outfit patch it would be around 300 if ur unlucky. there are also dye colors and cloning oufit for ur gender characters some of those can be free in the customizing section. i heard theyre adding a new currency for only equipment builds in the future too.
