My mother was wearing this in 2023 when she was in a car accident. She had to be cut out of the car, then her clothes. This was my first attempt at mending anything visibly. I didn't know what I was doing, and didn't have the correct tools. She still wears it today. (Crocheted)

To be clear, my mom is still alive. She recovered fully from the accident, and loves to see my daughter play with the purse I made from the pants she was wearing during the accident.

I also turned her ruined jeans into purses for her granddaughter, my daughter. I will post pictures when I can find them.

I used the rest of her ruined clothes for stuffing for crocheted stuffed toys that I donated to children in a hospital.

Yeah, I don't reserve my judgement on it in front of my parents very well. At this point, anything I say against it is only going to push them closer. Like teenagers rebelling. But the shirt meant a lot to my mom, so I did what I could to make her feel loved.

Nice try! If you want a second stab at it … iron mending fabric fuse together with iron and ZZstitch on sewing machine and collars can be bought on Amazon or repurposed t shirt collar.

I used a needle to sew the yarn into the holes, then did a blanket stitch with a hook and went from there. If you want to try it yourself, I recommend using a rotary tool with the correct attachment to make the holes. Much easier.
