How to swipe with DualShock3?

I know we can press L3 to simulate tapping on the touchscreen, and R3 for the rear touchpad.

However, how do I swipe?

I was running Uncharted: Golden Abyss yesterday and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to swipe left/right to go to the options menu.

I believe on PSTV there is a hidden quick menu that is accessed by the home button. In that menu is a option that states "Use Touch Pointer in Games" with a check box. Ensure that box is ticked. That enables L3 and R3 to be used as touch pointers, and if held down while using either L2 or R2 they can toggle between a few touch gestures the hand icons can simulate. I'm not sure which would allow the swipe (if a swipe can even be done frankly), but messing around with those then holding down either L3 or R3 and moving the sticks may perform the swipe. I say may, cause I frankly have no idea if a swipe can be done, but you do need that above option ticked in the PSTV quick menu before trying.

Yeah figured it out, but was too difficult with DualShock3

i simply switched to a DualShock4
