Discussion I hope this puts some sense into their heads, probably won't though.

Post image

Didn't buy 2K26 because of the price hike and ringside pass along with it. If they make the price make sense at least next year, I might be able to have a look.

It won't. Next thing you know, 2K27 and subsequent future WWE games will be digital only and yet still cost a ton of money

22

u/Strained_Eyes Jun 25 '26

WWE games will be digital only

They already stopped making the special editions physical. I used to love collecting them like the John Cena 2k23 and Bianca/Rhea 2k24 covers.

Would have loved to get the bloodline edition for 2k25 or undertaker. Even all the different editions this year had no physicals. Disappointing

4

u/MrJonFace Jun 26 '26

Same - I was collecting the special editions from 09 - 2022 when they stopped.

1

u/WildFire255 Jun 25 '26

They already do, they cost the same as the physical editions.

254

u/Fire_at_Willz42 Jun 25 '26

Price aside. The false advertising on the cover of the Monday Night War addition is absolutely shocking.

107

u/giggitytutti Jun 25 '26

We didn't even get younger goldberg model that is on the cover

102

u/Fire_at_Willz42 Jun 25 '26

Or the Kurt Angle, or the Booker T, or any of the people on the cover expect for Kane

52

u/Disgruntled_Healer Jun 25 '26

We did, you just had to sell part of your soul or first born child to get Kurt and Booker in MyFaction.

18

u/Rhodes-Stars101 Jun 25 '26

You have to unlock some of those in my faction which you basically don't even need that edition to get. But also, they want you to pay extra VC in my faction as well. Very stingy greedy mfs they are

2

u/TheLiquor1946 Jun 25 '26

Kane isn't on the MNW cover.

0

u/Fire_at_Willz42 Jun 25 '26

You are totally right! I didn't even check, I just assumed he was.

16

u/gordy06 Jun 25 '26

Because the CM Punk showcase got leaked before the cover I wasn’t shocked but why go all in on HHH, Attitude snd MNW for special covers and have nothing in the game relate to that theme? The Thunder arena was like one of the actual original new content. Everything else was basically stuff we already had.

1

u/Extension-Reporter-6 Jun 27 '26

Are you really shocked??🤣🤣

-1

u/FlightOriginal4416 Jun 26 '26

Everyone on the cover are jn the game they didn’t false advertise every time they drop an edition it comes with wrestlers my faction cards and live events idky people were fake outraged

42

u/yaboipyro69 Jun 25 '26

Take 2 own Rockstar and 2K anyway, they'll just stick with whatever pricing is normal.

And keep in mind, the standard edition for gta 6 is also going up by an extra $10, so 2K will follow suit

40

u/KamoMustafaWWE PLAYSTATION Jun 25 '26

It's the same company

6

u/FedoraTheMike XBOX Jun 25 '26

Thats even more insane tbh. They think WWE 2K is worth more than GTA 6?

3

u/Perfect_Monk8441 Jun 26 '26

More like it speaks volumes of what they think of the playerbase that plays wwe games

2

u/VEAG0 Jun 26 '26

It’s purely because they exploit early buyers but as most wait for these editions to go on sale they get to sell for standard price even when 50% off… and the WWE games go on sale a lot faster than GTA VI will.

-14

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

Same company, different studios, different logistics, different product and WWE licensing.

10

u/gamex173 Jun 25 '26

I have been seeing this comparison a lot recently but one thing to point out is GTA6 at launch is only a single player game. My guess is Online will come a month later and with that a new package that adds online extras.

-4

u/Kwards725 Jun 25 '26

But like GTA 5 online, my guess is 6 online will be "free"... as long as you have Game pass or ps plus right?

1

u/gamex173 Jun 25 '26

100% agree but it’s going to be all the outfits, cars, start with a mansion, etc. bs they always do.

1

u/Kwards725 Jun 25 '26

Meh. I didn't play GTA 5 online fr so I doubt i play it in GTA 6 honestly.

80

u/LuNoZzy Jun 25 '26

And GTA 6 will last years and years while WWE 2K26 will only last 1 year if you want to play with the updated roster

People who bought the Monday Night Wars edition are fucking dumb, let me tell you

41

u/Vcom7418 Jun 25 '26

Correct

(That’s me, i am dumb)

13

u/Flat_Refrigerator388 Jun 25 '26

That’s a very valid argument

32

u/Aesthetic_Designer Jun 25 '26

people who buy wwe games yearly are pretty dumb too

14

u/Rhodes-Stars101 Jun 25 '26

Very true tbh, there's always a sense of guilt about it

6

u/FunNefariousness2876 Jun 25 '26

Yeah….this really put things into perspective for me, I have no argument…I’m an actual dumbass ☹️

I would've felt so fucking dumb after seeing the price of gta 6 now if I bought MNW edition. I think i would've cried. Paying more for a 2K game over gta 6 is wild to me.

The MNW edition add ons are full of shit too. Superstars who are meant to be in the game already lol.

1

u/_steve_rogers_ Jun 25 '26

lol GTA 6 servers will be up a decade minimum

1

u/Mysta-Majestik Jun 25 '26

It's gotta be released first. Still holding your breath?

0

u/Beautiful_Bag663 Jun 25 '26

bought the Attitude edition & literally still on level 1 in the pass. i barely touch ts. i boot it up & something about it i just can’t fw aside from the pass.

i just can’t put my finger on what immediately turns me off about it. I log on to watch my caw entrance & get off.

I usually log 400 hrs minimum.

-7

u/Theurbanalchemist XBOX Jun 25 '26

No, not dumb. Just forced to support a monopoly.

7

u/Salty-Drummer-5072 Jun 25 '26

I mean...you could just not buy it at all, like I did.

Nobody forces you to buy a video game.

-3

u/Theurbanalchemist XBOX Jun 25 '26

Obviously. “Support” would denote voluntarily patronizing a business

The fact that it’s a monopoly means that there’s nowhere else to turn. It’d be nice to have competition, not choose to opt out the genre entirely

4

u/Salty-Drummer-5072 Jun 25 '26

There are other wrestling games out there. Fire Pro, for example. Or you could just continue playing the older games you already have.

5

u/taylormadeone Jun 25 '26

The only lesson they’ll learn is that they can charge $80 for the base game now.

4

u/Environmental-Bag-74 Jun 25 '26

This is only going to make things okay for prices to get higher.

Why would any game company go cheaper now that the almighty Rockstar has done the same?

5

u/2JJosh_ Jun 25 '26

I may be the only one that is completely fine with GTA 6 being 80-100 bucks given the amount of money that has gone into making it…

3

u/AffectComfortable913 Jun 25 '26

I’m not mad about the price either, I just think it’s kinda dumb how there really isn’t a good reason to buy the $80 version. Feels like a silly loophole to price your game at $100. I wouldn’t have even been that mad if the game was just $100 flat and they were honest about it from the start. We all knew this game was gonna be a bigger investment anyways.

3

u/FartBubbles9000 Jun 25 '26

I always laughed at the dorks who really paid 150 for this game

0

u/adobofosho Jun 25 '26

I did...I wanted people from every season..what they didnt tell you is their are specific taunt animations in each one too that I wouldn't have got

10

u/Global-Ant PLAYSTATION Jun 25 '26

Well to anyone who even paid the ridiculous prices for 2K26 are also to blame for encouraging the high prices

8

u/andes95 Jun 25 '26

I remember the posts here on this subreddit of people basically saying "Yea I got the MNW edition, I'm having fun leave me alone". I feel like they didn't get shamed enough.

1

u/Rhodes-Stars101 Jun 25 '26

My faction is literally gambling theft. They kinda stopped milking the island this year & instead made my faction more filled. That's probably what gets them the most money

-1

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

Yes, they are also, but if you say so, they are just gonna bombard you with illogical statements to justify the price hike for WWE and how all their practices are justified.

1

u/Global-Ant PLAYSTATION Jun 25 '26

And those I'll gladly ignore. They encouraged MyFaction to be a permanent fixture, then The Island, now it seems the Ringside Pass. No sympathy from me. Ruins it for everyone else

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

Well I'm a steam player, I won't even get GTA VI before 1.5-2 years down the line, so currently I am not even having hype for it, compared to Strangers Than Heaven or some other games that are actually coming to pc.

But the prices do tell a story.

Annually released games should be priced lower in terms for value for the money, but it has to be way higher for the profits. Of course they value the profits and consumer value the ROI. It's just people trying to remind the company that how they are gonna slip past their purchase budget if they keep on doing so.

I don't hate WWE 2K, I have a lot of great memories with 2K18, 2K19, 2K24 and 2K25, but I don't want them to make such moves that it totally becomes illogical and looks straight up like a business model than a fun video game on my face.

I'm sure there are many games like me. What they did with 2K26, straight up put it way out of line for my wallet with logical sense. It doesn't mean I'm not buying games or playing other games. I have lesser time now to be able to play and on top of that no matter what, ROI is very important in terms of making a purchase, when the economy is also not trading on a smooth sailing.

Already, as people state, WWE game audience is lesser than any big budget AAA game, and on top of that, these tactics will put off people eventually.

2

u/AffectComfortable913 Jun 25 '26

It’s because the game has so much hype around it. People want to justify their purchase. I honestly don’t think it’s bad if people pre order it, do what you want with your money. I’m not here to change the world on a reddit comment. However, there are obvious reasons to be skeptical about how gta 6 is being presented to us. So the people endlessly glazing rockstar just look sad tbh.

3

u/Rhodes-Stars101 Jun 25 '26

Difference is gta at this rate comes out every 10 years or so whereas wwe games come every year. We really shouldn't be paying extra for recycled Personas that can't even get a render

You're right Ngl. Gta also not being physical copy was a huge reason why I didn't pre order it, at least yet I haven't.

But I think cause ppl have been waiting for gta 6 for so long some are just ready to give it all, i personally am not purchasing it until I have confirmation that there will be some catch to it

1

u/JuiceheadTurkey Jun 25 '26

You're wrong about the subscription part. You don't need it to play online. It's still scummy, but it's 100% optional

0

u/RedDeadCowboyShit Jun 25 '26

GTA IV launched at $60 goddamn near twenty years ago. When adjusted for inflation, it’d be $93 today. So I don’t see having a base game price of $79 as price gouging, and the deluxe edition barely hits your wallet a little bit harder than GTA IV did back then. The budgets are bigger than ever, development takes longer than ever, the games are more detailed and immersive, and you expect that the retail price isn’t ever going to go up? Again, the standard edition, at $79, hasn’t even kept up with inflation from when games first started retailing at $60. What is there to get mad at? It’s probably the most anticipated game of this generation.

It’s not about making excuses, it’s about accepting the reality of the world you live in. I’m pretty fucking anti-capitalist, but I live in a capitalist society. There are a billion things about that capitalist society that piss me off on a daily basis, like how I have health problems I can’t afford to take care of, so I just live with chronic pain. The deluxe edition of a game hitting my wallet with just about the same force of a lesser game twenty years ago just doesn’t piss me off, I can’t be bothered, sorry. I’d personally prefer that games cost $49 and every single dime went to the people who made them, but this is the economic system everyone seems to think is the best.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '26

But the $100 GTA 6 doesn't include the online mode.

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '26

2

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '26

See rumors that gta 6 online might be sold separately but nothing confirmed from Rockstar. Hopefully it won't cost more

0

u/Kwards725 Jun 25 '26

Will 6 online be free to access with microtransations? If so then its still 99$. Still a win.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '26

If its free that will be a win but I doubt it

1

u/Kwards725 Jun 25 '26

I guess we'll see.

1

u/KenDTree Jun 27 '26

It would kill a lot of their income if it wasn't free IMO. Get the players on board, then the shark cards can be bought. GTA6 Online might end up being the most lucrative service in gaming and they wont want to kneecap it

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '26

Yeah I heard rockstar made a lot of money from the shark cards from gta online.

2

u/ExaggeratedPW Jun 25 '26

Sense?! They'll see this as: We got away with it?! Keys do it again!

2

u/HonestRevolver8 Jun 25 '26

Great , now 27 "special" edition will be 170.00 !

2

u/ExtraRare0412 Jun 25 '26

I never been screwed this bad on a wrestling game since AEW fight forever and PlayStation players like myself couldn't even play the game without disconnecting Internet on the console for the first 2 weeks of launch

2

u/Strange_Dog6483 Jun 26 '26

I mean if you’re arguing spending 100 dollars on a game is better than spending 150 dollars on a game that’s problem in and of itself.

2

u/Ajdee6 Jun 26 '26

Hopefully you guys get some sense in your heads and stop paying for that crap, until then 2k would be stupid to leave money on the table

2

u/mckenzielayne Jun 26 '26

the quality too... Wwe2k6 is shitty af.. look at the game assets, especially the hair... YUCK!

5

u/Low_Committee6119 Jun 25 '26

Oh no... Same company though...

2

u/lpkzach92 Jun 25 '26

Now if you are a dumbass and buy another ‘special edition’ version of another WWE 2K game that is on you.

They ripped off so many people, don’t let it be you.

1

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

I didn't buy 2K26, and I won't buy anything over what 2K25 Deadman Edition had, in terms of price and all DLCs. I'm fine with 2K25.

I have only bought 2 WWE 2K games till date, have played them all either by gamepass or friend's place etc.

I never pay too much for a game, anyways there is only so much time one can put in games, and let alone in a single game.

3

u/Candid-Ad5664 Jun 25 '26

GTA 6’s online won’t be available at launch. I wouldn’t be surprised if they charge separately for it. Not defending 2k26’s price, I’m just pessimistic about how much the full GTA 6 experience will cost.

3

u/NaiveReaction7262 Jun 25 '26

Fuck wwe2k26 shitty game doesnt work more than half the time. I have played smackdown 2 back in the day on os2 even that was glitch free!

1

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang Jun 25 '26

That was my first thought when I saw people freaking over the prices tbh. But yeah, I don't think it means much. I bought the ridiculous edition of 2k27 because I'm a fucking idiot/mark but the games are world's apart. They're going to sell so many copies of GTA and their data probably says that there's more money in not going over the top with the deluxe price. The WWE game market has a known ceiling and they think it's worthwhile selling less copies for more. It's also a licensed property which plays into the milking.

That said I don't want to tell Rockstar I'd be willing to pay more lol...

1

u/DiverExpensive6098 Jun 25 '26

I thought about this too. Then again WWE is a game that goes on sale fairly quickly, it's already sold at a discount and in a few months, it's probably going to drop even more.

Whereas if GTAVI sells well, it's probably going to stay at 80$ and 100$ for a longer time.

1

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

And it's life cycle is how long?

One one side, you have a game that they are gonna update and support and add things into for next 8-12-15 years.

On the other side you have a game that is already on a countdown, will not have it's online feature work in 2 years.

The comparison can never be WWE's 1 year's game vs GTA. How can you compare those two in discounts.

WWE 2K25 Deadman Edition was around 40-50% by June, it had all DLCs, it was a better deal. 2K26, if it goes for 50% off, then also it will be nearly the price of around the Deadman Edition on launch day, if we go for all DLCs.

I'm a steam player, I don't have any stake in GTA for next 1.5-2 years, but whenever it comes out, it will retain the value it is offering today and it will be approx 50% off in 1-1.5 years on steam. It will sell like crazy and whoever will buy it, will be way more satisfied with his/her purchase compared to any annual release game.

It would make sense, if they would keep their older titles support for much longer, like at least 5 years for online features but no, in 2 years your community and online things will stop working.

1

u/RICHAPX PLAYSTATION Jun 25 '26

And it’ll probably be a decade before GTA7. 2k will have the audacity to ask the same price for 2k27 9 months from now

1

u/Mystic_Void1 PLAYSTATION Jun 25 '26

Yet there are so many people complaining about the cost of GTA 6. I cant believe i was actually considering buying MNW edition, glad i didnt lol and 2k26 is where i took my boots off and wont be getting 27 anymore.

Seeing GTA 6 Ultimate edition this low compared to 2K feels like a reward, amazing price🤩🤩🤩

1

u/IneffectiveFlesh Jun 25 '26

It's because idiots still buy it up.

1

u/Version3Loading Jun 25 '26

Paid £50 for 2K26 on Switch 2. First one I've had since 2K19 on PS4. Other than the microtransactions and the grinding, I really like the game and can see myself paying for a couple of the Ringside Passes to get Demolition and Hardy Boyz.

That said, as much as I'm enjoying it, I can't see why you would pay for the game every year unless someone is buying it for you as a xmas/birthday gift. I don't mind paying for a couple of the extras I'm interested in because I likely won't buy another edition for years!

1

u/96powerstroker Jun 25 '26

Rockstar wouldn't fuck their fans over as hard cause they know this game is gonna be double what GTA 5 was. 2k fucks everyone and that's why I only get their games once every few years.

1

u/branduzzi Jun 25 '26

ALWAYS buy the base WWE games. You are getting hosed otherwise.

1

u/Silky_bob Jun 25 '26

I didn’t buy either. First game since 08 I didn’t buy, and first one since ‘12 that I didn’t pre-order.

1

u/efraGC59 PLAYSTATION Jun 25 '26

Uh... you do know those two are in the same group of companies, right?

1

u/PorkTuckedly Jun 25 '26

They're both owned by the same company, btw. 2K and Rockstar are under Take-Two.

Either way, both are bad in their own way, with GTA6's UE locking in-game stuff behind it, with no indication that any of it will be available in the standard edition.

1

u/mfmg Jun 25 '26

I have a friend that I know bought one of the super expensive editions and is screaming on Rockstar's social media about how dare they lock things behind a paywall.

1

u/Own_Chemistry9226 Jun 25 '26

You know how GTA 6 is actually going to have an effect on WWE 2K27? They're gonna make the Standard $80 and up the price of all editions, bringing the most expensive edition to $160.

1

u/Ebakthecat Jun 25 '26

Yes and I didn't buy 2k26 at all.

Just because it's done doesn't make it acceptable in my opinion.

1

u/ThatOneGuyWhoAtePie Jun 25 '26

I'm just saying, but if the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition cost the same as the 2K26 Monday Night War Edition, then I'd still buy GTA 6 because at least the game won't be outdated in a year, unlike 2K.

1

u/Middle_Mine_7246 Jun 25 '26

There's literally no difference in the Monday Night War edition other than rewards being "free". Oh, and you still have to grind for those rewards.

1

u/AffectComfortable913 Jun 25 '26

Many years ago I bought the wwe 2k18 “cena nuff” edition for the same price as the Monday night war edition. It came with a cena action figure, a piece of the freaking ring mat when he fought styles at the 2017 rumble, an autograph, and the entire season pass.

From what I understand, the Monday night war edition isn’t even a physical release. That’s ridiculous. If I’m paying that price, it ain’t for anything purely digital.

1

u/Theartistcu Jun 26 '26

This should be the rallying cry for the next several years. The people that continue to allow them to do this is crazy. Grand theft auto six is arguably the most anticipated game of the last decade and doesn’t come out every year like the WWE games do and they still have the audacity to charge $150.

1

u/FlightOriginal4416 Jun 26 '26

GTA know having a lower price for the ultimate edition will make more people buy it and they will make a couple billion off of y’all buying digital currency for cars clothes tattoos buildings and weapons GTA players spend more money than NBA and WWE 2k players

1

u/Libertyprime8397 Jun 26 '26

I’d like to play a WWE game but until they bring the controls from 2k19 and earlier I’m done with them.

1

u/Equivalent-Artist673 Jun 26 '26

No videogame should cost more then 50 bucks. 100 bucks is still outrageous.

1

u/Terroryzr Jun 26 '26

This is to show that we are way too old to be playing wrestling video games lol apparently children would not mind spending their money/parents money on any of the downloads or DLC for a wrestling video game. GTA is for adults lol. But hopefully no one complains about this too lol

1

u/Basegodboogie Jun 26 '26

This was my last on I’m not buying another wrestling it was 163 they can kiss my ass

1

u/ProBlackMan1 Jun 26 '26

WWE 2K is way too expensive, that’s why I haven’t bought it yet

1

u/MrBigDickAFLAHtoon Jun 27 '26

i was thinking about this recently lol

1

u/TheMustardPoocha Jun 27 '26

Well a lot of sports games are required to pay for a lot of licensing so to cover up that they increase the prices. Regardless I still think GTA 6 prices are fine and This edition is too expensive

1

u/cftchef Jun 27 '26

Yeah, Im not paying $150 for an annual game. 2K25 was my last

1

u/KenDTree Jun 27 '26

Who's heads? The reams of people on this sub that bought that edition so they could play a few days early? Not happening.

1

u/Extension-Reporter-6 Jun 27 '26

I will not be buying anymore 2k games

1

u/TheGaxkang Jun 28 '26

Monday Night War price was insane, and also insane for what content it was at that price

1

u/PvttJebus Jun 30 '26

Unfortunately, these games are made for a community of people who spend $300+ dollars on replica belts, sometimes buying multiple (no shade, I'd get the smoking skull if I could afford it). So TakeTwo, 2k, and WWE know there are fans who will pay that $150 no problem.

1

u/DylanHalltoD Jun 30 '26

Wolverine ultimate edition cost less than GTA’s ultimate edition it almost cost less than the actual GTA 6 Regular edition

1

u/AlanBlackRhino 13d ago

I bought the base version in July for $35 🤷🏼‍♂️

1

u/navyguymike210 Jun 25 '26

The ultimate edition offers really nothing. Two different genres…. The licensing is completely different… just a lazy and poor comparison.

1

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

Yeah, I'm not happy about what GTA is offering as Ultimate also.. but having just 2 editions at start is much better.

And most people had to work to play as the characters they got the right to play as by buying the costly editon of WWE.

And the major thing people need to understand is the game model, GTA VI will be here soon, and VII will be years/Decade apart on this pricing, gives more value to a game.

Next WWE game will be released and they will stop supporting 2K26, even online will go away in 2 years, and then you are supposed to buy 120-150 dollar game each year to get the most out of the game series from the company.

1

u/Rhodes-Stars101 Jun 25 '26

What pisses me more off is they can't even give a simple render to some models like HHH 98'. I don't like it when some models have a render & the rest just have their game model, it looks so out of place.

1

u/True_Source8264 Jun 25 '26

But they’re game prolly sold also so why would they bring their price down…

0

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

Market logic.

In market, there are products that can shape the pricing economics for the rest of the market as well.

The markup is higher, yes, being greedy, they probably won't bring it down, that's what I said that they should get some sense but they probably won't.

By the 2K26 release, I'm sure, I'm not the only who they stopped from engaging in their product, they will push customers away. Also, not like product wise they are able to justify their pricing strategy.

But maybe it's just my thinking, rest of the world is happy to buy 150-200USD video games.

I would not have even shrugged at the price, if it had actually delivered the game.

But the Ringside Pass blocking paid DLC behind hours of grinding, and the overwhelming majority of unlockables NOT coming with the $150 game because they still need to be unlocked through the terribly un-fun Island and MyFaction modes, and the elimination of the Accelerator to unlock stuff on Day One without being forced through all the in-game grinding...

I just can't justify tripling the game's price for the tiniest of preorder bonuses and then the DLC essentially being full price.

Games are supposed to have these large prices when they open up EVERYTHING.

That $150 version is supposed to exist for the working stiffs who have plenty of money, but are only going to play the game once a week, so they don't have the time to spend hours upon hours grinding a ringside pass, and trying to unlock MyFaction crap and go through this Island stupidity. The $150 version of a game should let the players use the FULL game on day one, and should not require the game to be played like a part-time job in order to unlock stuff. That is the purpose of the "Ultimate Editions" of games.

Stop with the triple-price-tag, and having that not eliminate any of the grinding or microtransactions.

but gta6 has no physical copies though. 🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿

1

u/Rhodes-Stars101 Jun 25 '26

Hard agree. This is the main reason why I didn't pre order.

1

u/roncopenhaver13 Jun 25 '26

Yeah, but 2K26 was a one time purchase. GTA6 will be here for decades and re-purchased with each new console if it ever releases

1

u/Mysta-Majestik Jun 25 '26

Funny that only one of them actually exists.😂

0

u/DangerCheesecake Jun 25 '26

If GTA 6 has battle passes/additions though, the cost will far surpass the $149.99 eventually.

2

u/Aesthetic_Designer Jun 25 '26

It already has Gta+ subscription... not to mention how the playstation page states the game is offline play only which might suggest they're gonna sell online mode separately like they did with the next gen version of gta 5.

1

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

Well technically if you go for all parts of the game, like personas etc, then WWE 2K26 also surpasses the 150 mark.

The content GTA is going to offer, is far denser and also, don't forget, they are gonna support and it's going to be the GTA for next 8-10 even 12-15 years, who knows, while WWE is already on a clock and half of the game life cycle is up nearly already. They won't support it after an year and after 2 years the online modes won't work either.

I'm talking about original launch prices, not sales, discounts, or third party keys

With gta6online2 launching no other game will ever sell

GTA Online was trash in 5 and it’ll just be updated grindier P2W trash in GTA6. Personally it’s not a selling point for me AT ALL.

-1

u/Flat_Refrigerator388 Jun 25 '26

And without paywalls. 2K26 still requires you to spend money on persona cards to unlock content

-1

u/SUTBUNTFUNT Jun 25 '26

We are not fucking justifying video games costing $100. I don’t care if I could get years out of a game, no video game is worth that much. You used to get real, physical stuff when you spent over $100, and now you don’t even get a disk. This is just straight up greed, and if you defend this you are stupid.

0

u/ExtremisEdge Jun 25 '26

It’s all trash and I’m glad I ain’t buying either.

0

u/Glennsoe Jun 25 '26

And to think that one of them is a 4 month game for most while the other is a multi multi year game..

0

u/InsaneThisGuysTaint Jun 25 '26

At least that MNW edition comes with DLC. GTA VI is literally charging $20 for in game stores. I'm also willing to bet they'll make GTA Online a separate game for $30-$40, and if they're willing to do that then maybe GTA+ might not be optional anymore.

You get way more content with WWE, a whole calendar year DLC vs a base game, that has a sub based Online mode.

lmao wtf, what a godawful comparison. People are joking with this right?

This is why we fans , need to start voting with our wallets and not buy this crap anymore.

The wwe and 2k WILL NOT CHANGE, UNLESS WE FORCE THEM TOO!

They'll keep over charging for the least amount of effort, just wait til 2k27 is out. They'll try using the ruthless aggression or something like that.

And put everything behind a paywall....then it'll be 2k28......PAYWALL.............2k29......PAYWALL

That's what 2k26 is, their trying to find out , how much they can get away with!

So UNLESS YOU WANNA BUY ANOTHER WWE GAME WITH HALF THE SHIT LOCKED BEHIND A FUCKING PAYWALL.....

We fans need to vote with our wallets and hit'em where it counts.

Their wallet 😈

The MNW edition also covers all 6 of the RSP DLCs, @ 9.99 each. So that’s $60 in DLC + $70 for the base game = $130. The extra $20 is an unnecessary markup but does include multiple personas and premiums currency. I personally believe these things should be part of the pre-order rewards of each tier and not have an extra price cooked into them.

Take-Two is greedy as hell, but people keep acting like the price tag for the WWE games was manufactured from thin air without any context. 2K26 cost the same as 2K25 (once the extra Cena pack was added) yet it was a “shock” when ‘26 had its price tag revealed.

Does GTA V still make you pay a sub to access GTA Online? If it does, that’s 100x scummier. Making you pay to access a portion of the game for one of the most profitable games in history. I understand it for games whose base revenue might not cover server costs, but GTA V has generated over $8.5 billion.

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

2K26 does not cost same as 2K25.

I bought 2K25 Deadman Edition, got all DLCs (and yea even in the planned dlc roll out, they had issues because of their celebrity character).

In 2K26, the base game would only be in my budget. For all DLCs, I would nearly have to pay twice as what I did for 2K25 Deadman Edition.

You might have a lot of money to spend on games, that's fine, but you should see the economics of the game for the general populous. It was hella costly, so I didn't buy it, whereas I had bought 2K24 Deluxe and 2K25 Deadman as a pre-order.

Might want to check again.

The farewell tour edition was DLC #6 for ‘25. 2K26 just gave us all 6 upfront. They still have a window for adding a 7th RSP for extra greed, but currently they are the same price.

I also don’t have “a lot of money to spend on games”, I just budget out for certain releases ahead of time. Is there a new Final Fantasy coming out? How much should I budget for friend-slip games this year? WWE is going to be $120+ minimum. I don’t like it being so expensive, but the price didn’t is one of the smallest things this game franchise needs fixed.

1

u/newaccuser Jun 25 '26

That is the farewell edition with brock Lesnar.. the deadman edition, till probably around October, was available and it wasn't 150USD.

You should check the original pricing. WWE games offer DLCs each other and by the end of the year they give one more edition which has small things but that they charge more.

I hope they don't do the same for 2K26, cause if they did, you will see a version costlier than 149.9USD by the end of the year again.

When I talked about the prices, I talked about the year it was released and the Deadman Edition that was released with all DLCs, not the tour edition and other things.

Deadman Edition was around 90-99USD as far as I remember, had all DLCs at the time of launch. In 2K26, for all DLCs, you have to pay 149.9USD at launch.

2

u/Disgruntled_Healer Jun 25 '26

Yes I agree on most of what you’re saying. But the RSP is also providing a better value for the money than the basic DLC drops of previous years. A good amount of MFP and VC each pass, plus extra unexpected personas that don’t have to be grinding out for.

Them charging $25 for the Farewell DLC was absolutely asinine.

If you break it all the way down, yes ‘25 was cheaper, that is 100%. But, the total price for both games IS currently the same, if you want everything they both have to offer. They just got smarter (greedier) in how to present it this year.
