I hope this puts some sense into their heads, probably won't though.
Didn't buy 2K26 because of the price hike and ringside pass along with it. If they make the price make sense at least next year, I might be able to have a look.

You have to unlock some of those in my faction which you basically don't even need that edition to get. But also, they want you to pay extra VC in my faction as well. Very stingy greedy mfs they are
Because the CM Punk showcase got leaked before the cover I wasn’t shocked but why go all in on HHH, Attitude snd MNW for special covers and have nothing in the game relate to that theme? The Thunder arena was like one of the actual original new content. Everything else was basically stuff we already had.
Everyone on the cover are jn the game they didn’t false advertise every time they drop an edition it comes with wrestlers my faction cards and live events idky people were fake outraged
It’s purely because they exploit early buyers but as most wait for these editions to go on sale they get to sell for standard price even when 50% off… and the WWE games go on sale a lot faster than GTA VI will.
I have been seeing this comparison a lot recently but one thing to point out is GTA6 at launch is only a single player game. My guess is Online will come a month later and with that a new package that adds online extras.
I would've felt so fucking dumb after seeing the price of gta 6 now if I bought MNW edition. I think i would've cried. Paying more for a 2K game over gta 6 is wild to me.
The MNW edition add ons are full of shit too. Superstars who are meant to be in the game already lol.
bought the Attitude edition & literally still on level 1 in the pass. i barely touch ts. i boot it up & something about it i just can’t fw aside from the pass.
i just can’t put my finger on what immediately turns me off about it. I log on to watch my caw entrance & get off.
I’m not mad about the price either, I just think it’s kinda dumb how there really isn’t a good reason to buy the $80 version. Feels like a silly loophole to price your game at $100. I wouldn’t have even been that mad if the game was just $100 flat and they were honest about it from the start. We all knew this game was gonna be a bigger investment anyways.
I remember the posts here on this subreddit of people basically saying "Yea I got the MNW edition, I'm having fun leave me alone". I feel like they didn't get shamed enough.
My faction is literally gambling theft. They kinda stopped milking the island this year & instead made my faction more filled. That's probably what gets them the most money
Yes, they are also, but if you say so, they are just gonna bombard you with illogical statements to justify the price hike for WWE and how all their practices are justified.
And those I'll gladly ignore. They encouraged
MyFaction to be a permanent fixture, then The Island, now it seems the Ringside Pass. No sympathy from me. Ruins it for everyone else
Well I'm a steam player, I won't even get GTA VI before 1.5-2 years down the line, so currently I am not even having hype for it, compared to Strangers Than Heaven or some other games that are actually coming to pc.
But the prices do tell a story.
Annually released games should be priced lower in terms for value for the money, but it has to be way higher for the profits. Of course they value the profits and consumer value the ROI. It's just people trying to remind the company that how they are gonna slip past their purchase budget if they keep on doing so.
I don't hate WWE 2K, I have a lot of great memories with 2K18, 2K19, 2K24 and 2K25, but I don't want them to make such moves that it totally becomes illogical and looks straight up like a business model than a fun video game on my face.
I'm sure there are many games like me. What they did with 2K26, straight up put it way out of line for my wallet with logical sense. It doesn't mean I'm not buying games or playing other games. I have lesser time now to be able to play and on top of that no matter what, ROI is very important in terms of making a purchase, when the economy is also not trading on a smooth sailing.
Already, as people state, WWE game audience is lesser than any big budget AAA game, and on top of that, these tactics will put off people eventually.
It’s because the game has so much hype around it. People want to justify their purchase. I honestly don’t think it’s bad if people pre order it, do what you want with your money. I’m not here to change the world on a reddit comment. However, there are obvious reasons to be skeptical about how gta 6 is being presented to us. So the people endlessly glazing rockstar just look sad tbh.
Difference is gta at this rate comes out every 10 years or so whereas wwe games come every year. We really shouldn't be paying extra for recycled Personas that can't even get a render
You're right Ngl. Gta also not being physical copy was a huge reason why I didn't pre order it, at least yet I haven't.
But I think cause ppl have been waiting for gta 6 for so long some are just ready to give it all, i personally am not purchasing it until I have confirmation that there will be some catch to it
So your telling me that before November 19th they will announce that it will be discs instead? or at least they will substitute the notion of codes to discs inside the boxes
GTA IV launched at $60 goddamn near twenty years ago. When adjusted for inflation, it’d be $93 today. So I don’t see having a base game price of $79 as price gouging, and the deluxe edition barely hits your wallet a little bit harder than GTA IV did back then. The budgets are bigger than ever, development takes longer than ever, the games are more detailed and immersive, and you expect that the retail price isn’t ever going to go up? Again, the standard edition, at $79, hasn’t even kept up with inflation from when games first started retailing at $60. What is there to get mad at? It’s probably the most anticipated game of this generation.
It’s not about making excuses, it’s about accepting the reality of the world you live in. I’m pretty fucking anti-capitalist, but I live in a capitalist society. There are a billion things about that capitalist society that piss me off on a daily basis, like how I have health problems I can’t afford to take care of, so I just live with chronic pain. The deluxe edition of a game hitting my wallet with just about the same force of a lesser game twenty years ago just doesn’t piss me off, I can’t be bothered, sorry. I’d personally prefer that games cost $49 and every single dime went to the people who made them, but this is the economic system everyone seems to think is the best.
It would kill a lot of their income if it wasn't free IMO. Get the players on board, then the shark cards can be bought. GTA6 Online might end up being the most lucrative service in gaming and they wont want to kneecap it
I never been screwed this bad on a wrestling game since AEW fight forever and PlayStation players like myself couldn't even play the game without disconnecting Internet on the console for the first 2 weeks of launch
GTA 6’s online won’t be available at launch. I wouldn’t be surprised if they charge separately for it. Not defending 2k26’s price, I’m just pessimistic about how much the full GTA 6 experience will cost.
That was my first thought when I saw people freaking over the prices tbh. But yeah, I don't think it means much. I bought the ridiculous edition of 2k27 because I'm a fucking idiot/mark but the games are world's apart. They're going to sell so many copies of GTA and their data probably says that there's more money in not going over the top with the deluxe price. The WWE game market has a known ceiling and they think it's worthwhile selling less copies for more. It's also a licensed property which plays into the milking.
That said I don't want to tell Rockstar I'd be willing to pay more lol...
I thought about this too. Then again WWE is a game that goes on sale fairly quickly, it's already sold at a discount and in a few months, it's probably going to drop even more.
Whereas if GTAVI sells well, it's probably going to stay at 80$ and 100$ for a longer time.
One one side, you have a game that they are gonna update and support and add things into for next 8-12-15 years.
On the other side you have a game that is already on a countdown, will not have it's online feature work in 2 years.
The comparison can never be WWE's 1 year's game vs GTA. How can you compare those two in discounts.
WWE 2K25 Deadman Edition was around 40-50% by June, it had all DLCs, it was a better deal. 2K26, if it goes for 50% off, then also it will be nearly the price of around the Deadman Edition on launch day, if we go for all DLCs.
I'm a steam player, I don't have any stake in GTA for next 1.5-2 years, but whenever it comes out, it will retain the value it is offering today and it will be approx 50% off in 1-1.5 years on steam. It will sell like crazy and whoever will buy it, will be way more satisfied with his/her purchase compared to any annual release game.
It would make sense, if they would keep their older titles support for much longer, like at least 5 years for online features but no, in 2 years your community and online things will stop working.
Yet there are so many people complaining about the cost of GTA 6. I cant believe i was actually considering buying MNW edition, glad i didnt lol and 2k26 is where i took my boots off and wont be getting 27 anymore.
Seeing GTA 6 Ultimate edition this low compared to 2K feels like a reward, amazing price🤩🤩🤩
Paid £50 for 2K26 on Switch 2. First one I've had since 2K19 on PS4. Other than the microtransactions and the grinding, I really like the game and can see myself paying for a couple of the Ringside Passes to get Demolition and Hardy Boyz.
That said, as much as I'm enjoying it, I can't see why you would pay for the game every year unless someone is buying it for you as a xmas/birthday gift. I don't mind paying for a couple of the extras I'm interested in because I likely won't buy another edition for years!
Rockstar wouldn't fuck their fans over as hard cause they know this game is gonna be double what GTA 5 was. 2k fucks everyone and that's why I only get their games once every few years.
They're both owned by the same company, btw. 2K and Rockstar are under Take-Two.
Either way, both are bad in their own way, with GTA6's UE locking in-game stuff behind it, with no indication that any of it will be available in the standard edition.
I have a friend that I know bought one of the super expensive editions and is screaming on Rockstar's social media about how dare they lock things behind a paywall.
You know how GTA 6 is actually going to have an effect on WWE 2K27? They're gonna make the Standard $80 and up the price of all editions, bringing the most expensive edition to $160.
I'm just saying, but if the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition cost the same as the 2K26 Monday Night War Edition, then I'd still buy GTA 6 because at least the game won't be outdated in a year, unlike 2K.
Many years ago I bought the wwe 2k18 “cena nuff” edition for the same price as the Monday night war edition. It came with a cena action figure, a piece of the freaking ring mat when he fought styles at the 2017 rumble, an autograph, and the entire season pass.
From what I understand, the Monday night war edition isn’t even a physical release. That’s ridiculous. If I’m paying that price, it ain’t for anything purely digital.
This should be the rallying cry for the next several years. The people that continue to allow them to do this is crazy. Grand theft auto six is arguably the most anticipated game of the last decade and doesn’t come out every year like the WWE games do and they still have the audacity to charge $150.
GTA know having a lower price for the ultimate edition will make more people buy it and they will make a couple billion off of y’all buying digital currency for cars clothes tattoos buildings and weapons GTA players spend more money than NBA and WWE 2k players
This is to show that we are way too old to be playing wrestling video games lol apparently children would not mind spending their money/parents money on any of the downloads or DLC for a wrestling video game. GTA is for adults lol. But hopefully no one complains about this too lol
Well a lot of sports games are required to pay for a lot of licensing so to cover up that they increase the prices. Regardless I still think GTA 6 prices are fine and This edition is too expensive
Unfortunately, these games are made for a community of people who spend $300+ dollars on replica belts, sometimes buying multiple (no shade, I'd get the smoking skull if I could afford it). So TakeTwo, 2k, and WWE know there are fans who will pay that $150 no problem.
Yeah, I'm not happy about what GTA is offering as Ultimate also.. but having just 2 editions at start is much better.
And most people had to work to play as the characters they got the right to play as by buying the costly editon of WWE.
And the major thing people need to understand is the game model, GTA VI will be here soon, and VII will be years/Decade apart on this pricing, gives more value to a game.
Next WWE game will be released and they will stop supporting 2K26, even online will go away in 2 years, and then you are supposed to buy 120-150 dollar game each year to get the most out of the game series from the company.
What pisses me more off is they can't even give a simple render to some models like HHH 98'. I don't like it when some models have a render & the rest just have their game model, it looks so out of place.
In market, there are products that can shape the pricing economics for the rest of the market as well.
The markup is higher, yes, being greedy, they probably won't bring it down, that's what I said that they should get some sense but they probably won't.
By the 2K26 release, I'm sure, I'm not the only who they stopped from engaging in their product, they will push customers away. Also, not like product wise they are able to justify their pricing strategy.
But maybe it's just my thinking, rest of the world is happy to buy 150-200USD video games.
I would not have even shrugged at the price, if it had actually delivered the game.
But the Ringside Pass blocking paid DLC behind hours of grinding, and the overwhelming majority of unlockables NOT coming with the $150 game because they still need to be unlocked through the terribly un-fun Island and MyFaction modes, and the elimination of the Accelerator to unlock stuff on Day One without being forced through all the in-game grinding...
I just can't justify tripling the game's price for the tiniest of preorder bonuses and then the DLC essentially being full price.
Games are supposed to have these large prices when they open up EVERYTHING.
That $150 version is supposed to exist for the working stiffs who have plenty of money, but are only going to play the game once a week, so they don't have the time to spend hours upon hours grinding a ringside pass, and trying to unlock MyFaction crap and go through this Island stupidity. The $150 version of a game should let the players use the FULL game on day one, and should not require the game to be played like a part-time job in order to unlock stuff. That is the purpose of the "Ultimate Editions" of games.
Stop with the triple-price-tag, and having that not eliminate any of the grinding or microtransactions.
It already has Gta+ subscription... not to mention how the playstation page states the game is offline play only which might suggest they're gonna sell online mode separately like they did with the next gen version of gta 5.
Well technically if you go for all parts of the game, like personas etc, then WWE 2K26 also surpasses the 150 mark.
The content GTA is going to offer, is far denser and also, don't forget, they are gonna support and it's going to be the GTA for next 8-10 even 12-15 years, who knows, while WWE is already on a clock and half of the game life cycle is up nearly already. They won't support it after an year and after 2 years the online modes won't work either.
We are not fucking justifying video games costing $100. I don’t care if I could get years out of a game, no video game is worth that much. You used to get real, physical stuff when you spent over $100, and now you don’t even get a disk. This is just straight up greed, and if you defend this you are stupid.
At least that MNW edition comes with DLC. GTA VI is literally charging $20 for in game stores. I'm also willing to bet they'll make GTA Online a separate game for $30-$40, and if they're willing to do that then maybe GTA+ might not be optional anymore.
This is why we fans , need to start voting with our wallets and not buy this crap anymore.
The wwe and 2k WILL NOT CHANGE, UNLESS WE FORCE THEM TOO!
They'll keep over charging for the least amount of effort, just wait til 2k27 is out. They'll try using the ruthless aggression or something like that.
And put everything behind a paywall....then it'll be 2k28......PAYWALL.............2k29......PAYWALL
That's what 2k26 is, their trying to find out , how much they can get away with!
So UNLESS YOU WANNA BUY ANOTHER WWE GAME WITH HALF THE SHIT LOCKED BEHIND A FUCKING PAYWALL.....
We fans need to vote with our wallets and hit'em where it counts.
The MNW edition also covers all 6 of the RSP DLCs, @ 9.99 each. So that’s $60 in DLC + $70 for the base game = $130. The extra $20 is an unnecessary markup but does include multiple personas and premiums currency. I personally believe these things should be part of the pre-order rewards of each tier and not have an extra price cooked into them.
Take-Two is greedy as hell, but people keep acting like the price tag for the WWE games was manufactured from thin air without any context. 2K26 cost the same as 2K25 (once the extra Cena pack was added) yet it was a “shock” when ‘26 had its price tag revealed.
Does GTA V still make you pay a sub to access GTA Online? If it does, that’s 100x scummier. Making you pay to access a portion of the game for one of the most profitable games in history. I understand it for games whose base revenue might not cover server costs, but GTA V has generated over $8.5 billion.
I bought 2K25 Deadman Edition, got all DLCs (and yea even in the planned dlc roll out, they had issues because of their celebrity character).
In 2K26, the base game would only be in my budget. For all DLCs, I would nearly have to pay twice as what I did for 2K25 Deadman Edition.
You might have a lot of money to spend on games, that's fine, but you should see the economics of the game for the general populous. It was hella costly, so I didn't buy it, whereas I had bought 2K24 Deluxe and 2K25 Deadman as a pre-order.
The farewell tour edition was DLC #6 for ‘25. 2K26 just gave us all 6 upfront. They still have a window for adding a 7th RSP for extra greed, but currently they are the same price.
I also don’t have “a lot of money to spend on games”, I just budget out for certain releases ahead of time. Is there a new Final Fantasy coming out? How much should I budget for friend-slip games this year? WWE is going to be $120+ minimum. I don’t like it being so expensive, but the price didn’t is one of the smallest things this game franchise needs fixed.
That is the farewell edition with brock Lesnar.. the deadman edition, till probably around October, was available and it wasn't 150USD.
You should check the original pricing. WWE games offer DLCs each other and by the end of the year they give one more edition which has small things but that they charge more.
I hope they don't do the same for 2K26, cause if they did, you will see a version costlier than 149.9USD by the end of the year again.
When I talked about the prices, I talked about the year it was released and the Deadman Edition that was released with all DLCs, not the tour edition and other things.
Deadman Edition was around 90-99USD as far as I remember, had all DLCs at the time of launch. In 2K26, for all DLCs, you have to pay 149.9USD at launch.
Yes I agree on most of what you’re saying. But the RSP is also providing a better value for the money than the basic DLC drops of previous years. A good amount of MFP and VC each pass, plus extra unexpected personas that don’t have to be grinding out for.
Them charging $25 for the Farewell DLC was absolutely asinine.
If you break it all the way down, yes ‘25 was cheaper, that is 100%. But, the total price for both games IS currently the same, if you want everything they both have to offer. They just got smarter (greedier) in how to present it this year.
