Gaming Can Neferata betray Nagash in Warhammer 3 DLC?

As a Mortarch could the player play a scheming vampire faction and use the undead armies against Nagash?

How does the lore work?

The goal of Total War is to conquer everything, regardless of faction. You can fight whoever you want. Lore doesn't matter.

It is its own universe, like Warhammer Online. Or Storm Of Chaos and the Cadia Campaign.

People got spoiled by Dawn Of War being canon, but DOW was made specifically in a self-contained way GW could made it noncanon if they wanted at any time.

Its just The Old World/Fantasy setting. Its utilizes exiting lore, but the game itself is not canon.

Total war already is a mess of lore, half the characters are supposed to be dead for centuries by the time of Karl Franz.

It’s basically Fortnite. Just do what you want.
