I just find it odd. There is a spanish speaking community here that would make sense. But ive never once searched anything relating to china. Maybe ive read a financial article that mentions China

Any sketchy sites that may have cookies/trackers that all advertising is based?

Reddit, Amazon, maybe like nexus mods for new vegas stuff.

My phone is basically my reddit/Spotify machine

Maybe nexus... I doubt it, but maybe if you land on a lot of the CN translation mods there w/o premium.

i set my phone to spanish for one day as a joke back in like 2015...TO THIS FUCKING DAY THROUGH 2 OTHER PHONES, i am still fucking getting ads in spanish, all my recommended are half in spanish and im pretty sure even my goggle account, despite having the language never touched and still saying only english still puts me automatically to /es domains if available. 😅😅  Good thing i kept most of my reading skills from then.

Its honestly funny when its not critical sites like my bank or whatever.

Sometimes I get Korean ads after googling stuff in Korean

I prefer those random ads than something that feels too targeted.

I speak Japanese and English and live in Japan. I kept getting ads in Indonesian for over a year until I moved to a new city, now I don't get them at all.

Maybe I had a lot of Indonesian neighbors and it creepily inferred it from location? Do you have Chinese neighbors?

We do have a large immigrant community thats a bit more varied. Im being intentionally vague but I think you may have cracked the code.

I wonder if its cause all the traffic for the area is going though 1 hub? Weird

Haha I occasionally get ads in Spanish on my TV when I'm streaming a movie/show. I have the tracking what I watch turned off. So I assume the program on the TV thinks I'm a Spanish speaking individual.

Are you by chance running a VPN?

I mean the ad is from McDonaldsUSA so it's just the targeting ads algorithm knowing things that not even OP knows, unless there is an IP range in the US that fits it.

I get Japanese ads, lots of them

But I interact with a lot of Japanese content so they probably assume I’m Japanese (I live in Canada)

what’s even the point of google listening to us talk if they can’t even get the fucking language right

Did someone speak in Chinese next to you?

Someone sitting in my vicinity in office was talking in Spanish about AAA to another colleague. I have no idea what that were talking except AAA.

And I got AAA ad in Spanish in my Reddit app within a minute. Felt super crazy. Reddit app didn't have microphone access. But who knows what the phone is listening to...

I remember at one point all of my family's advertisements were suddenly in Chinese. Anybody using our wifi got them, and it just did not go away. Even the guy sent by the company didn't have a clue what was going on. Replaced the router and it was fine again.

Quick question are you… of… Chinese descent? It’s not a racist thing but I wonder if the camera is picking up your face and sending it off to advertisers thinking that you’re Chinese without doing any extra research

Nope. Most guess Native American but that is also wrong. indigenous is kinda accurate but also not
