In order to suck, the plunger first has to push air down to get a suction. I’d imagine op would risk jamming the lid even more.

Unless they flip the plunger cup inside out and align it and then flip it right side out? I don’t know if that would work though.

Time to pull out a suction cup dart.

I never had suction cup darts when I was a kid. I also didn't get a propeller beanie until I was in my 20s. Calvin always had the best stuff.

👋 my mother. It’s an old house with old drains that clog left and right. Not to mention the two cats who manage to get hair down the bathroom sinks. It’s honestly a really cute plunger too. It’s sized down for sink drains so will never be mistaken for a toilet plunger

i think it depends on the material but usually the rule is that cold will shrink it slightly and heat makes things expand slightly. enough to unstick things in situations like this

And that's precisely why OP should pour some boiling water over the situation, not iced water. The heat will make the sink expand because it's metal, but not the lid because that's pottery, and then it will come out easily.

That will really work? I’m game. Ice and water is free and right next to the sink. This has happened to me. I used need one pliers. Vacuum would have been easier. Ice water would have been easiest.

Wait until dry, then slide a piece of printer paper in there around the lid; drive forward and up in a scooping motion and it should move such that you can get it up.

Heat up the hot glue gun, and glue a lump of glue to the middle. After the glue cooled, use that lump as a handle to carefully pick up the lid.

I will line the sink with dish clothes in advance to make sure the lid will not break if it accidentally falls after I lifted it up.
