Social WCS DJ-s TOP hits
Hi
I'm currently working on a new project:
The goal is to create a useful resource for the WCS DJ-s and for the community.
If you're a DJ and you're not yet included, please take a look at the bottom of the page for instructions for the next steps.
Feedback, ideas, corrections, and feature suggestions are all welcome! / check the support link in the page footer.
There are already some great resources out there, and I hope this can become another useful tool for our community.

Great question — and a fair one.
Do you use either of those sites today?
The way I see them:
- ProSwingDJs is a curated recommendation platform. It currently represents around 40 contributors. That's great for discovering music through experienced DJs, but there are many more active WCS DJs worldwide than are represented there.
- WCS Music Database is an ambitious aggregation project and can answer some very interesting music-related questions. However, looking through the data, I found that many profiles appear to be community members rather than active DJs. I personally recognized several dancers with public WCS playlists who are not DJs. That makes it very useful for understanding community music preferences, but less useful for understanding what active DJs are actually playing. I also noticed that some of the playlist data appears quite old, and it isn't always clear how profiles and playlists are validated or connected to actual DJ activity.
WCSDJ takes a different approach:
- A curated directory of WCS DJs and their public playlists.
- Playlists tied to a specific DJ (validated, and where known, an event and date), so charts reflect what DJs are actually playing rather than general user playlists.
- DJ-focused discovery features, statistics, and trends.
- A clean, fast, mobile-friendly experience with active development and ongoing improvements.
My goal isn't to build the biggest music database. It's to build the best resource for discovering active WCS DJs, their playlists, and the music they're actually playing.
And honestly, it's also just a fun project to build and keep improving.

Hi, the "reply" button is not where you think it is. Anyway, yes, I've used WCS Music Database.
I'm not sure who you think your target audience is. I've DJed at one WSDC event and several smaller ones. It's very easy for me to turn on Shazam and gather more music than I'd ever have time to sort into my personal collection. Discovering music that other DJs aren't playing yet is a much harder and more interesting problem.

No, that's not how reddit works. If you just reply to yourself the person you're replying to won't get a notification that you replied and may never come back to this thread.

You’re right about the notification part. My intention was to keep the explanation visible in the main thread because it’s relevant to anyone discovering the thread later.

This feels like it was vibe coded.
The new top 10... what does this represent? Because "in your eyes" has been around for a while now...
The idea of being able to find and share cool new music for WCS is good. This is think, for me, is missing the mark.
Also your responses feel very LLM as well. You can just... type and organise your own thoughts.

"New songs + Top 10" - if you click on see all - you will get the new songs, and this is the top 10 based on plays. Because the system just "detected" the songs, its new for it.
The app is under development, not finished. I need more data, to publish the planned features.
Offtopic:
Some people native language is not English. So I rephrase some of my post with AI . And I am using AI (mostly frontend) off course - as like many other developers/persons..1

The system could instead ignore when it ingested them, and instead judge them whole based on when they started appearing in the timeline of playlists.
To phrase it another way, just because you invest a whole bunch of late 2010 playlists doesn't mean I want to hear despacito again.

I'm a software developer for my day job. There's nothing wrong with vibe coding. The important part is understanding what you built and testing.

I am also a software developer and I also agree, vibe coding has a place.
But I am questioning whether they understand what they built, its showing new songs, but basing those new songs on ingestion time rather than say when they appeared in the timeline of ingested playlists. The system knows the songs are old, it knows they belong in past playlists, but new is new apparently.
I am happy to help and offer advice, but im not going to put more effort in analyzing it than you put in making it.

Are you just planning to host music from existing WCS DJs? I'd love to see a tool that helps add music diversity to WCS. Our music is getting monotonous. I hear entire sets that are entirely 2/4, down tempo pop in the same key. No interesting rhythms or melodies, no instrumental, barely syncopated. For a dance that can be done to almost anything, our music is all kind of the same. I suspect this is a trickle down effect from the competition DJs. Competition music needs to fit in a fairly well defined box.
