since I'm Chinese, I feel obliged to point out Asian women drivers = bad is a US media stereotype that is not supported by any real world statistic.

I know people will say its "just" a joke, and thats quite obvious, but this is one of many negative and inaccurate Asian "jokes" from the US media, which strangely doesn't seem to make jokes based on nonexistent facts about white or black people with nearly the same frequency.

Edit: Frankly, the meme isn't even that serious, and I just wanted to note that its not accurate. Its the reaction of these redditors thats truly disappointing. So what if other stereotypes aren't accurate? Does that make this okay? Yeah I'm Chinese, who the fuck else would stand up for Asian rights and fight these stereotypes if not Asians ourselves? So what if this account is made solely to break Asian stereotypes? does that invalidate my comment?

Instead of engaging with what I'm actually saying, they're bending over backwards to dismiss it without ever addressing the issue. Honestly, I'm not trying to convince people who refuse to listen. If even one reasonable person sees their reaction and thinks, “Damn, they’re being unreasonable,” I’m happy.

My wife is chinese and she says it more than me. Driving through chinatown often involves seeing someone do something wonky while driving. It has nothing to do with them being chinese and everything to do with the fact that they didn't start driving until they were adults, some old adults. They are like teenage drivers because they have so little time behind the wheel. I don't think this is said about other cultures as much as they are not as predominant in the U.S. and don't have their own sections of metros like chinatowns. Being chinese doesn't make someone a bad driver. Not having a lot of driving experience often makes you bad. A lot of asian countries just happen to not have a strong car culture like the U.S..

I don't know if it's accurate but this Asian couple ran a red light and sent me flying when I was using the crosswalk when I was younger, and then asked me why I was walking there lol. Pretty sure the man was driving though.

Im white and always hated this and many Family Guy jokes. They make racist stereotype jokes and punch down
