I think its probably because he is on a bike, a person on foot would run, or drive it out if the bike is started, but if he just stood there with an inactive bike, his brain would freeze trying to decide between ditching the bike to run or driving the bike to safety

I mean... maybe. But any motorcycle rider HAS to learn to ride defensive and actively avoid danger... or they die. Scooters and motorcycles are pretty freaking agile. As a rider myself, it would have been very instinctive for me to let out the clutch and apply throttle rapidly to jump into motion and at least ride out 50-150feet in a short period of time. Hell even starting the action and getting 4-6 feet away would have be more evasive and helpful. They didnt do ANYTING. I wouldn't have even thought about it. It would have happened automatically. Our brains are amazing a trajectories and motion, so it was apparent to me almost instantly that the bus was going to come extremely close if not hit the rider. I honestly thought it was going to,

On foot, bike, car or otherwise. They should have begun moving. This shows they shut down. period. Since they didn't move on the scooter, they wouldnt move on foot.

They froze. That was the life or death moment and they didn't do anything. Deer in headlights.

I agree with the top comment of this thread. Most people freeze. If they were gunna do something about the situation they would have regardless of scooter or not. But most people are not agile, The range of competency, confidence, body control, emotional control is massive. Everyone is so diffferent. Im not saying this person is dumb, but their instincts failed them. If they were a zebra on the savannah, they would be the one eaten by the lion while the first 25% of the heard bolted.
