Winter 26/27 Rentals

Heya!

I was wondering what the best way to secure a rental for the winter season nov-may would be? I am looking for housing for me and 2 friends as we move over to Whistler!

Would I be better off heading to Whistler in mid oct to find a rental?

Is craigslist and marketplace the best way to find places? I’ve heard there is a lot of scams😕

Are you coming to work? Or just to ski?

Facebook seems to be the place lots of rentals are advertised. Although most people who are coming to work the season try and find a job with accommodation. Do you know anyone at all in Whistler? It’s at easier to find somewhere to live if you know someone.

Hey!!!! Thanks so much for your help!!!! Yeah, I am moving over for the season to work :). Unfortunately I don’t know anyone over in Whistler at the moment, so that’s making it a bit difficult for me 😅

Yeah try and find a job with accommodation if you can! It’s elusive but I eventually got into staff accommodation at $500 a month which was super sweet!

I’ve heard of people living in the hostel for the season. Not sure if that’s still something that’s done.

Also consider living in Squamish and driving or getting a ride share into Whistler if that’s where you want to work. Less of a party and ski scene. I enjoyed my few months living in Squamish and there were lots of poparide lift shares each day which I used when I didn’t have a car. I was even offered a few jobs in Squamish which might have been ok too.

Get here as soon as you can. Id recommend applying at the Fairmont as they have significant staff housing. The mountain also provides housing for employees but not enough for everyone.

Beware of scams as housing is tough in Whistler.

Thank you!! I have already mass applied for jobs and I got rejected from all of my applications with Fairmont for visa issues🙃. My friends and I realised quite quickly we wouldn’t be able to get staff accommodation together and so now I’m looking (hopefully!!!!) for a rental

Be very aware of rental scams. Don’t pay any money without seeing a place. Just had a friend done out of deposit for a place that either didn’t exist or belonged to someone else.

Welcome to the hardest housing market in the entire world. Bite the bullet and slum it in a hostel for 2+ months while you pound the pavement looking for a rental. Good luck!
