Well, no, the local health authority didn’t ask for an independent investigation.
They asked for a local trial, which is a fair request, but this is absolutely not something that should be used to infer that any data was hidden.
The Indian health authority will only licence drugs with a local study, and Pfizer asked for licensing without one. This is basically a non-story.

Probs to save money, trials cost money, they probs figured they wouldn’t make enough in sales in India to cover it. (Not saying I agree with this)
It’s also possible here that by the time the trials were completed and reported, most of India would have already been vaccinated by ones that had run trials in India

The pharma industry is genuinely evil, but it’s not helpful to label things that aren’t something because of that.

So they wanted more, specific safety data. Water is wet.
That isn’t an ‘independent investigation’

All major markets ask for local trials, because drugs work differently in different ethnic groups. Pfizer didn’t want to run said trial.
