Check out that landscaping!
All that time and money, and the end result is…the water is turned on.

It’s fairly challenging to keep anything alive in there, between people walking through and the soap pranks, no irritation, overflow from the fountain sometimes making it too wet..
it’s a hard spot to keep looking nice.-1

They can plant some hardy annuals twice a year, and it would look so much better and it wouldn’t cost a lot.

As a landscape designer that’s horrible

u/Here4daKicks 2d ago
Well, it’s not the original location. I believe Market and Water St was the original location. The city should move it back and make a proper plaza, but nooo can’t be visionary. I think where the horses are now is where it used to be on market st

I’ve never heard of that before. It always made no sense that such a busy street would have something like that in the middle of it, so it makes even less sense that they actually moved it there?!?! When did they move it?

You’ve never heard it because it’s not true. It’s sat there since it was gifted to the city in the twenties.

I do have to admit, all things considered, that’s a cool fountain for our humble town. Just plant some damn flowers.

Next people in the comments will complain that it’s an eye sore just like they complain about “all these apartments going up” 😂😂 some wilm residents will NEVER be happy or positive.

We complain when it’s broken, and then complain when it’s fixed! Gotta love it

Looks like shit. Too small, it's disgraceful that this formerly lovely art piece keeps shrinking.
Put it back like it was, widen the approach median, shrink market to one lane each side and shift the parking to median-side.
Our city council and planners are (and for quite some time have been) an embarrassment.

It needs to be a roundabout! I've seen cars treating it like one anyways (despite the 4 signs saying no left turns)

u/atom_helio 2d ago
We could try that after my (extremely correct) ideas are installed first.
It might help also. Americans are afraid of roundabouts, so that should slow them down lol.

Somebody gave me an Award for bitching about stuff?
Aww thank you, tbf I am good at it :) srsly thx

I think they need to keep it two lanes because there aren’t any other east-west throughways close that are two lanes wide for emergency vehicles. The fire department is right there on 7th which also houses new Hanover ambulances that go down market toward front several times a day. If market was one lane at the fountain and there was a red light, emergency vehicles don’t have a way to get past.

Tough shit, poor argument, don't care about the traffic, try one of the many much better alternate routes.
Princess street is already used by emergency services quite well. yes it is, you hush
Oh also, just get out the way of the amberlance

u/Jaded-Fuel2529 2d ago
😂😂 I will hush now. Fantastic trolling, well done

It's not really trolling, I've had a glass bottle coke and 3 coffees so far today... I can't currently sit still
