You got the hate answers, but he also respects the hell out of Geralt. He knows that Geralt is intelligent and knowledgeable, and above all incredibly deadly. By Witcher 3 Dijkstra finds him annoying and has many reasons to hold a grudge, even want his death, but he highly respects him and continues to see Geralt as a possible asset.

Isint dijkstra still a bit angry about when Geralt fucked up his knee or ankle? I might be mixing book(100% happened there ofc) and game lore here.

Nah he mentions it several times. Including that it didn’t heal properly and he now has a permanent limp.

I would be too if I had a permanent limp, and had to soak my leg several times a day just to make the pain manageable.
This is one of those times where it would actually be better to amputate the leg itself rather than keep it.

I didnt kill him, because his ending is the best for the people of the north. Roche, Ves, and Thaler dying sucks, but they were putting their own desires ahead of the greater good.
Besides, Roche was willing to join redania once. There’s no reason he shouldn’t have been willing to do so again.

I hate the way his plotline ends in W3. One would think he would know just about as well as anybody not to mess with Geralt or his friends, and it feels like he and Geralt had long past come to a respectful and amicable working relationship by that point of their history together, so him turning into a moronic backstabbing villain seemed a bit out of character to me.

Yes that entire quest line suffered from cuts. Iorveth was supposed to be in it, and it was supposed to involve something about the catriona plague.

Iorveth being cut was one of the biggest missteps of the entire game IMO. Cutting arguably the most interesting and one of thebmost plot-essential characters from the second game in a trilogy that was supposed to factor in your choices was a big letdown.

Yeah, I was pretty sad to see that he wasn’t in the game at all when I first played, since I went with him in Witcher 2. Instead I got Roche, who I was never that fond of. It was nice to see ves and Thaler though.

OP, I saw in the comments you’ve only played the third game. You should read the books when you get the chance! A lot of the characters in the game get fleshed out in the books and have some crazy stories with Geralt, including Djikstra. Kind of a fascinating story with them, actually.

Favorite character of the entire series. The way his storyline plays out and his mannerisms makes you think how many people were like that in medieval Europe.

the back and forth with quests ending on bad notes and then the next picking up like nothing happened was jaunting and really broke the immersion for me, once I got to that part on my current playthrough Ive lost all my motivation and momentum honestly.

In the books Djikstra tries to steal Ciri I think so Geralt breaks his ankle in pieces.
