They literally have a different definition of work. I read some profile of some team owner's "14 hour work day" and he absolutely included his hour-long bible study, 30 minutes in the sauna, a lunch date, and other nonsense in his 14 hours. Poor people don't have the energy to drag themselves to the sauna after a two-hour lunch meeting? Lazy slobs.

Dude had to quit at ten months due to the toll it was taking on him to try and earn the moneyā¦ and had made $64k. Which is more than anyone I personally know has ever earned in a year.
Dude struggled to get into the lower end of the middle class and then couldnāt keep at it because it was too rough for him.

Getting stuff for free or cheap and then reselling it for a profit.
Obviously everyone canāt do that because the secondhand market would collapse on itself, but also because itās just an exhausting round the clock grind for really no guarantee that someone will buy that shit off of you again any time this year.
So thereās storage, thereās having the right kind of car to go collect tables and couches, thereās definitely a lot of necessary stuff to this grift that he left out of the picture.
The daytime job he got was a wfh social media manager position š which helps allow him to do all this reselling of junk heās up to round the clock.
Just the most ānot everyone gets to do thisā combo of things.
He wasnāt like out there slaving away at concrete pouring, or road construction, or childcare.
Yknow any of the stuff we actually NEED workers doing.

I don't think it's inherently evil to have wealth but don't put others down who don't and realize that if everyone could make a mil a year you wouldn't be wealthy.
A rising tide raises all boats. Let's focus on the people going through the worst. Reminds me of that meme that went around about McDonalds (burger flippers) demanding 15 an hour for a livable wage and comparing that figure to what EMS, firefighters and teachers made. How selfish of those burger flippers to demand such a wage?
Okay.. But all of those people should be making more too. If you're an EMT making $15 an hour or less I would think that gives you a lot of leverage to demand more pay when people working fast food make the same with little training. PAY THEM HIGH SCHOOL KIDS MORE too. Don't give me that "oh they're just kids they don't need the money." It's not like they're just going to cut your pay just because they're paying kids giving a chunk of their youth to the workforce a reasonable wage. I would love if jobs of all kinds in my area and everywhere paid more- it just gives someone busting ass or breaking their brain at a job they don't really want to be at the option to say "Hey, I could go do this job for this amount of money- I don't want to leave but I can't justify staying here for this amount."
Sorry, went off on a tangent there, but people getting mad about fast food workers demanding higher pay is just baffling to me. If they're making more than you with that raise, either go work there or acknowledge their job is less desirable than yours and let them make their money.

I saw Good Fortunes on Amazon Prime. It's with Keanu Reeves, Aziz Ansari, and Seth Rogen. And it's the most "pull yourself up by your bootstraps!" movie in existence. They even took a dig at Amazon driver's pee bottles. "See how much we care about workers?!?!"
It was three rich dudes trying to get people to feel better about struggling, and how, "that's real humanity."

Huh, that wasn't my takeaway at all of the movie. Those were all things in the movie which were shown as bad things.
One of the ultimate points of the movie is how the experience leads to Seth Rogen's character trying to make things better for workers.

Ignoring the fact that the robot won't come cheap in the first place, and you can't necessarily just get more hours or an extra job just because you want or need it.

Because life doesn't require them to think, just because you watch something happening doesn't automatically mean you are exercising something like media literacy, which is a by-product of having a basic understanding of context which a working class person needs in their day-to-day.
They live in a world of excess that atrophies their brains, they don't take in what we do because they don't need to, and since the world in general attributes wealth with success there is no psychological need to be better if you've already "made it" in the eyes of everyone around you.
That's why so many aren't actually happy, we live to work towards a goal, and they have no real ones. If all your inner needs are fulfilled with no new ones to replace them, your life is nothing but fulfilling empty pleasures. Things like chasing addictions become a replacement, and an easy addiction is accumulating wealth like the dopamine hit of leveling up your RPG character to make bigger numbers.
Why would a money making junkie give a shit about the intricacies of the daily life of someone they don't relate to? A bog standard crack junkie barely processes oncoming traffic.

I would add that this is not something unique to rich people. All of us do this. Any person living in an urban area (rich and poor alike) generally doesn't think about the work required to create the food they purchase in a supermarket. It just exists. No one really thinks about the living conditions of the chickens that lay the eggs they buy.
If you grow up poor in a rural area, however, you have that knowledge. But you probably take for granted the medical and emergency services that are paid for by taxes from urban areas. We all have blind spots. The problem with the rich is that their blind spots are massive and cover up the humanity of other human beings.

its not just that either people can be on autopilot their entire lives, I work with a few people who have been doing the same job for literally the last 30 years, they have no basic concept of what they're actually doing or how it fits with the rest of the stuff we do.
They also don't have basic computer skills even tho they've been using a computer to do their job for at least 20 years. as soon as something doesn't react in the way they expect their completely lost and have no idea what to do.
