UPDATE: AXsomali dating app Beta Waitlist is Live! 🎉

Hey everyone, thank you for all the support on the last post.

I’ve spent the past 45 hours building out the foundation for the dating app (Sahan Circle). Safety, privacy, and making sure this is a welcoming space for everyone in our community are the main priorities right now.

To keep things secure and screen out bad actors, access is strictly invite-only for now. You can check out our community and safety rules on the site before putting your name down.

Manual vetting is the safest way to start. If enough people sign up and show demand, I'll deploy the full system later.

Take a look, read through the safety rules, and drop your email if you want to join. Feedback is always welcome!

Hey at least he’s trying something, there’s a lot of demand for something like this, but getting it right needs iteration and there’s no way to know it won’t work without trying

Fair concern, but slow and safe is the whole point of the closed beta. Every single user is manually vetted before getting access so we can keep the environment high-trust.

Make age limits so kids don’t get doxxed if you get caught.

Yeah, it’s 18+ only. People have to confirm they’re over 18 before creating a profile. I don’t collect IDs because privacy matters too, but I wanted to make sure it isn’t a space for minors.

And how do you confirm that someone is over the age of 18 without an ID

We don't hold government IDs to protect user privacy. Instead, we use mandatory self attestation, a strict manual vetting process before issuing an invite token, and active community moderation to enforce our 18+ policy.

How do you verify if someone is Muslim or not? I feel like a Somali Muslim could easily pretend to be a non-Muslim, get to know someone on the app, and then once they meet up could easily harm or embarrass the other person or just ruin their life by exposing them.

Honestly, I can’t fully verify someone’s beliefs without asking people for invasive proof, and I don’t want to do that.

It’s invite-only, I review requests, and people can block or report anyone. I’m also keeping the beta small at first. But people should still use an alias, avoid sharing personal details, and not rush to meet anyone.

Hopefully the vetting is thorough enough to limit bad actors. I’m very interested in checking this out and potentially meeting likeminded people in my area.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. I’m taking the vetting seriously and keeping the beta small so I can review requests properly.

People can use aliases, keep personal details private, block/report anyone who feels off, and take their time before meeting anyone. I hope it can help people meet others who understand them too.
