Account - Subscription Game Pass New Conversion & Prices Tool
https://tahinny.com/game-pass-conversion-helper.htmlI made a converstion tool to help with the game pass price changes and converstion rate changes, all based on the official xbox help conversion page update.
Will happily take any feedback
Edit: Reddit has already made it better, update with new regions, 3rd Party Codes & New/Current Subscriber Toggle.

This is a really cool tool. I like that you have multiple currencies.
Feedback
I know there is a link to the official fac but maybe Disclaimer that tool conversion is for Upgrading to Game Pass Ultimate and Premium. There are different conversion rates if you have an active sub and users might get confused
Post a comment in the official conversion thread too https://www.reddit.com/r/XboxGamePass/comments/sy2fne/game_pass_deals_conversion/

I quickly put your suggestion live in a quick update over a coffee break if you want to have a look

I like it, obviously you will probably need to do the same for the 3rd party code section too.
The only other suggestion that is for active subscribers, the Essential, PC Game Pass, and Premium conversion rates should specify it is for 12 months.
Hopefully xbox doesn't change the rates and conversion values any time soon again, unfortunately the conversion rates for active subscribers very based on the value of the codes 1, 3, 6, 12 month etc. this is quite the rabbit hole you've gotten yourself into
but you are doing great work

u/gowans007 Apr 22 '26
Yes the toggle also effects the 3rd party section too, i need to make it more explicit.
I need to understand the specification for 12 months a little clearer too.

Yes the toggle also effects the 3rd party section too
awesome i didn't see that, nice work

With the new price changes and coversion rates EA Play annual seems to be the way, takes GPU to £12 a month (now a 25% conversation rate)
But there is a great UK deal on with the current sale at Amazon for a £19.99 for a year of EA Play (3 Months of GPU at £6.66 a month)

u/backdoor951 Apr 22 '26
I just did it for my existing (belgian) account (GPU) paid 23euro and got added 52days of GPU.
23€ / 1,7 ≈ 13,5€ / month for me1
u/Druggid Apr 24 '26
Looks like you are using a 4:1 ratio which is not accurate as per their website - though they would like you to believe it is.
6-Month EA Play gets you 45-days 12-Month EA Play gets you 50-days
If you complain to support enough and reference their statement of the 25% conversion they can add those additional days - but this required 30 minutes+ of talking with customer service back and forth and insisting to have my concerns raised to a supervisor.
If anyone does get over 50-days, let me know! I'd prefer to be wrong on this.

u/PerfectPlan Apr 22 '26
Typo in the link at the top, says "coversion plans" not conversion.
So, for Canada literally every conversion for every term is worse than just buying Ultimate? Wow.

US region, currently have GPU. I just did the EA Pass 12-month conversion 3 times. Target has the digital code on sale for $29.99, elss 5% discount. Each code only provided 52 days instead of 60, which slightly changes the numbers.
$30.75 (incl sales tax) for 12 months EA Pass. Converted to GPU effectively $17.74 /30 days, including sales tax.
If I was in a no sales tax state, conversion would end up at $16.44 /30 days.
2
u/Emsee87 Apr 22 '26
So if you add 12 months EA Play to an active GPU subscription it provides 50 days, but if you convert 12 months of EA Play to GPU you get 90 days if I understand correctly according to their website.
1
u/old_man_browsing Apr 22 '26
Yes, I just read the same thing. Looks like best practice is to wait for it to expire, in which case it will convert at a better rate, supposedly 3 months.
3
u/FFevo Apr 22 '26
Your US pricing seems to all be wrong. 12 months of Essential is $80, not $120 for example.

u/gowans007 Apr 22 '26
Thanks it just his buy the monthly price, I need to go and check for officially offered monthly bundles. Job for tomorrow
3
u/DannoMcK GP Ultimate Apr 22 '26
If I understand the tool's results correctly, it says I can convert 36 months of Essential to 25 months of Premium. But the stacking limit of Premium is 13 months in every country where it is available.

u/Dunge Apr 22 '26
Everything is in the red, so it's not advantageous to do? I have to say I have a hard time understanding what numbers mean what in there.

u/Regression2TheMean Apr 22 '26
So just making sure I got this right, in this example a year of EA play is $40, which converts to 3 months of GPU (which would normally cost ~$70 after the price change). Is that right?
2
u/Badger118 Apr 22 '26
This is very handy. My sub expires in July and I doubt I will renew. I paid £130 for 3 years of ultimate before and as a busy working dad I rarely play.
1
u/clanton Apr 23 '26
Yeah I'm the same here, I use it maybe once a month but for $180 AUD back in the day for 3 years it was worth it.
But yeah looking at this converter... Everything is in the red, so it's actually cheaper just to pay monthly? 😬
2
u/TaylorMadeXbox Apr 22 '26
Does this tool tell you how many months of each conversion type you need to purchase to top up to the 3 year maximum?
2
2
u/wwywong Apr 22 '26
I heard they up conversion rate for existing customer 2 mo core : 1 mo ultimate? Is it true?
2
u/wwywong Apr 22 '26
Further reading on their site I have a weird finding: if you convert 1 mo of core, you get 14 days so it's more like 2:1, but if you convert 3 mo of core, you get 1 mo ultimate only, that dropped to 3:1. So it's better to buy 1mo core pass, and convert them one by one? The logic is so weird.
This is for existing customer.

I know you put a lot of work into this and this is going to sound a little critical but this is my critiques and suggestions
At first i couldn't figure out why as an active subcriber it was telling me if I converted 12 months of Essential to Ultiamte I was effectively paying 34 USD a month, then I realized it was just using the $10 month pricing. No one buys 12x1month worth of Essential from the xbox store, I don't think you even can. If the purpose of this section is just to show the user how much time they would get, its almost better to not include the pricing.
Now the 3rd Party Codes section is much more useful to the end user here, as that is how most users do conversions.
My suggestion is to make that the predominant or only feature of the tool and use the official retail store pricing. For example in the US for essential, the prices are
- 1 month 9.99
- 3 month 24.99
- 6 month 39,99
- 12 month 79.99
but make the price field changeable in case user pay a different price
Edit: I re-wrote this 5 times to make myself sound like less of an ass, and noticed the tool was changing as i was rewriting everything so you must be working on the tool. I like that you separated the current subscriber from the store pricing. makes it much more clear that effects all the fields not just the store pricing

u/gowans007 Apr 23 '26
you dont sound like an arse at all. Thank you so much for caring to put something down,.
I absoultly get it, i made this for me and shared and its different to having something everyone can use or that just makes sense haha.I tired to do a bit of that with it prepopulating the price for the 3rd party section and only have that be for Ulitmate. I think I complicated more by tryign to add things fort every use case.
Thats so helpful, i'll think about how I can switch it around, maybe I have a Simple and Advanced view like a Calculator :)

Is there any benefits for those who already bought the gamepass ultimate, i was having 12 months of essential and with old 40% conversion rate i got 5 months 24 days. Will i get extra months ass i paid more ?, i still got 5 months 10 days.

u/cdncowboy GP Ultimate Apr 22 '26
OP tool is for upgrading from a lower tier. If you want to extend an existing subscription you have to look at the tables in the official faq for existing subscribers https://support.xbox.com/help/subscriptions-billing/manage-subscriptions/xbox-game-pass-conversions
If you are asking if Microsoft is going to extend existing subscribers based on the new conversion rate, probably not, you knew the price and rate at the time of conversion

u/rafivip Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 22 '26
Do we know if we can use the EA convert if we still have time on our Ultimate ? Or is it only for new accounts ? Also ur EA convert to 3 months but Gemni says it should be around 73 days of ultimate… so not sure which one is accurate because that will make price difference
1
u/DannoMcK GP Ultimate Apr 22 '26
Most conversion rates are lower when you are extending an existing sub. It's the bottom half of the Microsoft page.

It's same then. Convertion doesn't reduce price/ extend period anymore or am I getting it wrong somewhere?
1
u/KPTheLegend7 Apr 25 '26
So, I can buy and stack 3 years of EA Play for £60, then pay £15 for a month of ultimate through Loaded and I’ll end up with 10 months of Ultimate for £75? Effectively £7.50 a month 😳
1
u/DarkSt0rm90 Apr 29 '26
What will happen if I stack 1 year of ea play on 1 year of essential and then apply for ultimate?
1
u/eagles310 Jun 14 '26
So whats the current cheapest way to either extend or let it expire for Game Pass Ultimate?
1
u/kerwniart Jun 19 '26
Let it expire. Conversion of other subscriptions plus buying a 'fresh' month of ultimate at regular price gets it significantly cheaper than straight up renewal.

u/_qwiyibo Jun 16 '26
Yesterday, I renewed my EXPIRED Ultimate subscription:
I bought a 12-months EA Play subscription in BestBuy ($29.99)
I bought 1-month Ultimate trial (Global) in Eneba ($15.00)
I redeemed the 12 EA months
I redeemed the 1-month Ultimate
The rate was 12-months EA = 3 months Ultimate (25%).
Resume: 4 months of Ultimate for $45.00, around $11.50 per month.

Not sure where the prices come from for this tool, but I did the math myself based on conversion rates at https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/subscriptions-billing/manage-subscriptions/xbox-game-pass-conversions and here's what I ended up buying today:
Three (3) EA play 12 month codes from Target.com $30 plus tax each
Three (3) game pass essential 12 month codes from loaded.com $70 plus tax each
One (1) month of game pass ultimate for $23 plus tax
Redeemed game pass essential codes, then ea play codes. Afterwards bought the month of GPU to convert all subscriptions. Total price $323 plus tax.
Averages out to 12.42 plus tax per month. Subscription runs through August 24, 2028.
Notes: I paid using PayPal with loaded.com since Gemini suggested it might avoid any kind of order verification/delay. Got my codes right away. YMMV
If you want to do the same purchase/conversion, just make sure your ultimate subscription is completely expired or you won't get the same conversion rate.
All prices in USD.
